T5 Data Centers, Hillwood and IPI Partners Form Partnership to Develop T5@Alliance, a Hyperscale Data Center Campus at AllianceTexas

T5 Data Centers and Hillwood, are partnering to co-develop a data center campus within AllianceTexas, the 18,000-acre master-planned, mixed-use development in north Fort Worth. Development of the T5@Alliance data center campus is backed by IPI Data Center Partners Management, LLC (IPI Partners).

Atlanta, GA, USA — T5 Data Centers (T5), innovators in providing state-of-the-art, customizable, hyperscale computing environments, and Hillwood, one of the nation’s leading real estate companies, are partnering to co-develop a data center campus within AllianceTexas, the 18,000-acre master-planned, mixed-use development in north Fort Worth. Development of the T5@Alliance data center campus is backed by IPI Data Center Partners Management, LLC (IPI Partners), which invests in data centers and other technology and connectivity-related real assets and is sponsored by ICONIQ Capital, LLC and an affiliate of Iron Point Partners, LLC.

The T5@Alliance campus is a unique scaled opportunity for the data center market. AllianceTexas has initially dedicated 350-400 acres of its infrastructure rich master plan specifically for data centers. The massive pad sites with the infrastructure necessary to ensure uninterrupted power, telecommunications, and operations, provide the foundation for T5 to construct enterprise-scale, customized data centers that meet customers’ specific requirements. At full build-out, the development is capable of delivering 400+ megawatts of dedicated critical power, which replicates the current capacity of the entire Dallas-Fort Worth marketplace.

“Cloud and hyperscale data center users are looking for locations that can offer a growth pathway, incentives, resiliency and speed to operation, all with low costs. T5@Alliance offers a perfect combination of these critical requirements,” said Pete Marin, President and CEO of T5. “This partnership with Hillwood and IPI Partners brings together a highly experienced team ready to deliver hyperscale campuses for discerning data center customers.”

“Rapid growth in Fort Worth is catching the attention of large technology companies, like Facebook, and is reinforcing AllianceTexas’ position as a premier destination for data centers,” said Mike Berry, president of Hillwood, developer of AllianceTexas. “With highly acclaimed data centers already developed in eight major markets across the United States, T5 and IPI Partners are ideal partners for expediting the evolution of AllianceTexas as a large-scale data center destination. This partnership will allow us to quickly deliver even more data center campuses to the growing number of customers who want to more efficiently serve North Texas and the broader market.”

Redundancy is one of the core reasons that data centers find AllianceTexas attractive. The development is served by two separate transmission sources, Brazos Electric Power Cooperative and Oncor, which come together at the same location to provide power independently with transmission-level redundancy. Four substations currently exist at AllianceTexas, with locations identified for multiple additional substations, which enhance redundancy opportunities for development sites. This component, combined with the fact that Texas operates on its own electrical grid, mitigates the risk that data center operations will be disrupted by power outages. The state’s deregulated electricity marketplace also makes power extremely affordable.

Multiple long-haul and domestic fiber providers are also in place throughout AllianceTexas. In addition, the development is served by water supplied by the City of Fort Worth. The water system within AllianceTexas has been constructed and was purposefully designed to provide critical redundancy, with interconnections between three transmission water mains.

“The partners share the same vision for providing customers with customized data center solutions, making this a great opportunity to leverage our capabilities and resources to support the growing demands of colocation, enterprise and hyper-scale users across the region,” said Reid Goetz, vice president of Hillwood. “The massive pad sites at T5@Alliance, which are already served with critical infrastructure, make the development a great platform on which the partners can create one of the world’s top data center destinations. Facebook and other FORTUNE 500 users have already recognized the substantial advantages of this location for massive installations. Redundancy, the presence of multiple fiber providers, access to an ample volume of water and the region’s moderate weather all help ensure reliable, uninterrupted service of data centers at AllianceTexas.”

T5 Data Centers Receives Uptime Institute® M&O Stamp of Approval Across Data Center Portfolio

T5@Charlotte, T5@Dallas, T5@LA, and T5@Portland Join T5@Atlanta in Being Certified for Best-in-Class Infrastructure Management and Operations.

Atlanta, GA, USA — T5 Data Centers™ (http://www.t5datacenters.com), innovators in providing state-of-the-art, customizable and highly reliable computing support environments, today announced that the company’s entire portfolio of eligible data centers has received Uptime Institute’s Management & Operations (M&O) Stamp of Approval. T5 Data Centers’ T5@Atlanta facility was issued an M&O Stamp of Approval by the Uptime Institute in 2016, and this month T5@Charlotte, T5@Dallas, T5@LA, and T5@Portland also received the industry award.

The Management and Operations Stamp of Approval was created by Uptime Institute to provide an unbiased, independent assessment confirming a data center meets a set of benchmarks that promote effective data center best practices and minimize human error, which is the leading cause of data center failure. The M&O assessment evaluates all aspects of operations, including planning, coordination, and management; staffing and organization; training; operating conditions; and maintenance. Only a select number of data centers qualify for the M&O Stamp of Approval, and with additional awards issued this month, T5 Data Centers’ entire portfolio of five eligible data centers have now achieved the M&O Stamp of Approval awards from Uptime Institute for outstanding management and operations.

“We know that having a world-class staff and adhering to proven management protocols is the key to success. We are proud of our track record of continuous availability across the T5 portfolio and our partner sites (i.e. sites that T5 Facilities Management operates as a third-party service). We are delighted to have the Uptime Institute M&O Stamp of Approval to validate our team’s performance and our procedural excellence,” said Mike Casey, President of T5 Facilities Management. “Minimizing risks while reducing operating costs is a commitment T5 makes to all of its customers. The fact that we had nearly perfect scores on the M&O audits demonstrates that we have the right people and procedures in place and are operating using best practices every day.”

A 2016 study by the Ponemon Institute estimates that the cost of data center downtime now averages about $7,900 per minute. The report also determined that the average data center incident lasts 86 minutes at a cost of $690,200, and a total data center outage averages 119 minutes at a cost of $901,500. The Disaster Recovery Preparedness Council also reports that only 23 percent of organizations are adequately prepared for a data center outage. Uptime Institute’s M&O Stamp of Approval provides independent assessment of data center excellence and standardization with optimal staffing, which means a reduced risk of downtime and lower operating costs.

“Achieving the M&O Stamp of Approval across the T5 Data Center portfolio illustrates the company’s commitment to operational excellence,” said Keith Klesner, Senior Vice President, North America for Uptime Institute. “Uptime Institute’s M&O Stamp of Approval provides insights to help organizations manage risk and reduce operator errors to improve performance and productivity. This commitment serves to differentiate T5 Data Center in the industry as one of the leaders in operational excellence and best practices. We congratulate T5 Data Centers for receiving the M&O Stamp of Approval for all its eligible facilities.”

T5 Data Centers Adds Fortune 100 Company as Latest Tenant for T5@Atlanta Data Center Facility

T5’s Flagship Data Center Chosen for Reliability and Operational Excellence for Business-Critical Enterprise Systems in the Atlanta Market.

Atlanta, GA, USA — T5 Data Centers™ (http://www.t5datacenters.com), innovators in providing state-of-the-art, customizable and highly reliable computing support environments, today announced the addition of the newest tenant for its T5@Atlanta facility. The unnamed Fortune 100 company selected T5@Atlanta because it was one of the only data centers to meet their exacting requirements, and because of T5’s enterprise expertise, operational excellence, and speed to operation. A deciding factor was that T5@Atlanta was one of the only data centers in the Southeast to receive the Uptime Institute’s Management & Operations (M&O) Stamp of Approval, which evaluates data center staffing, organization, training practices, preventive maintenance, operating conditions, and planning and management.

The new tenant was seeking an enterprise data center facility in the Atlanta market that would be able to reliably support its business-critical applications. Last year, the company experienced a costly failure that affected customers and operations nationwide. To prevent recurrence of such a failure, the company decided to migrate to a data center provider that could support its mission-critical computing requirements. T5@Atlanta proved to be the only enterprise data center in the region with the capabilities, operational procedures, and personnel to meet their specifications.

The multi-megawatt deal includes a dedicated suite in the T5@Atlanta data center as well as dedicated infrastructure and a customized build-out. The new lease includes the option to extend the lease to include use of T5’s Smart Hands and Remote Hands services, if needed.

“This latest deal validates the leadership role that T5 plays in the Atlanta market,” said Pete Marin, President and CEO of T5 Data Centers. “In all of our facilities, we custom build infrastructure that meets the unique needs of discerning enterprise customers. Our T5@Atlanta data center already hosts mission-critical enterprise facilities for financial service companies, insurance companies, manufacturers, banks, and transportation companies. The one thing all our tenants have in common is the need for a world-class enterprise data center with qualified staff and reliable operations.”

T5 Data Centers Signs County of Los Angeles as Newest Tenant for T5@LA Data Center Facility

County of Los Angeles Migrates from Its Own Data Center to T5@LA to take Advantage of Turnkey Infrastructure Support, Cost Savings, and Expandability.

Los Angeles, CA, USA — T5 Data Centers™ (http://www.t5datacenters.com), innovators in providing state-of-the-art, customizable and highly reliable computing support environments, has signed the County of Los Angeles as the newest tenant for the company’s T5@LA customizable data center. The County will be migrating its data center operations from its own facility to T5@LA to take advantage of the infrastructure support and cost savings offered by T5’s wholesale data center, as well as the potential for future expansion.

The LA County Board of Supervisors directed an assessment of options to replace the existing outdated data center with either a build, buy, or lease solution. After performing a cost analysis, the County determined that leasing a wholesale data center facility would offer greater flexibility and prove more cost effective than upgrading its current data center operation. After an extensive search, Los Angeles County selected T5@LA because of its secure environment, redundant power systems, and seismic reinforcement, as well as its strategic location. The T5@LA facility also fulfilled the County’s immediate operational needs, providing a ready-to-occupy location customizable to their needs with energy and water efficient environment control systems.

“Winning the County of Los Angeles as a customer validates T5’s market advantage – our wholesale data centers are more robust and cost-effective than maintaining your own data center facilities,” said Aaron Wangenheim, Chief Operating Officer for T5 Data Centers. “This latest contract also demonstrates that our T5@LA facility is in the right location with the right capabilities for customers throughout the Los Angeles market who need mission-critical computing support.”

Like all T5 wholesale data centers, T5@LA offers a fully customizable facility that gives customers total control over MEP technology and design. Each data suite is completely autonomous, separated by slab-to-deck, fire-rated walls for secure operations. The T5@LA data center also meets HIPAA, HITECH, and PCI regulations and provides a highly secure operating environment.

T5 Data Centers’ T5@Atlanta Receives Uptime Institute® M&O Stamp of Approval

T5@Atlanta, One of the Select Data Centers Independently Certified for Best-in-Class Infrastructure Management and Operations.

Atlanta, GA, USA — T5 Data Centers™ (http://www.t5datacenters.com), innovators in providing state-of-the-art, customizable and highly reliable computing support environments, today announced that the company’s T5@Atlanta data center has received the Uptime Institute’s Management & Operations (M&O) Stamp of Approval. The Stamp of Approval provides an unbiased, independent assessment that data center Management and Operations meet Uptime Institute standards.

Only a select number of colocation data centers have qualified for the Uptime Institute’s M&O Stamp of Approval. The M&O assessment process evaluates data center staffing, organization, training practices; preventive maintenance, operating conditions, as well as planning, management, and coordination practices for data center resources.

“The Uptime Institute M&O Stamp of Approval provides a proven methodology of assessing operations practices, pinpointing and analyzing operational gaps, and showing an organization’s intention to differentiate themselves as a clear industry leader with a consistent path forward to excellence,” said Lee Kirby, President, Uptime Institute. “We are pleased to congratulate T5 Data Centers on their M&O Stamp of Approval in their Atlanta facility.”

A recent 2016 study by Emerson Network Power estimates that unplanned data center outages can cost organizations up to $9,000 per minute, and human error is one of the most common causes of data center downtime. The M&O Stamp of Approval reduces risk by ensuring that the best collaborative and procedural protocols are in place, and that the data center staff is highly trained. Uptime Institute’s M&O Stamp of Approval provides independent assurance of data center excellence and standardization with optimal staffing, reduced risk of downtime, and efficient operations which reduces operating costs.

“The M&O Stamp of Approval provides independent validation that our T5@Atlanta data center has world-class staffing and management protocols,” said Mike Casey, President of T5 Facilities Management. “We agree with the Uptime Institute’s notion that operational and management issues are fundamental to data center operations, and that with the right people and procedures, you can minimize risk and reduce operating costs. In fact, we formed T5 Facilities Management as an independent operation because we recognize the critical value of M&O.”

Although the M&O Stamp of Approval has been specifically granted for T5@Atlanta, T5 Data Centers is planning to request Uptime Institute certification for other data centers in its portfolio.

T5 Data Centers’ T5@Atlanta and T5@LA Wholesale Data Centers PCI Certified and HIPAA Compliant

T5 Receives Attestations for Healthcare Security and Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards for Both Wholesale Data Center and Colocation Operations.

Atlanta, GA, USA — T5 Data Centers™ (http://www.t5datacenters.com), innovators in providing state-of-the-art, customizable and highly reliable computing support environments, today announced that its T5@Atlanta and T5@LA data centers have been certified compliant with the latest credit card data security standards and determined to be compliant with healthcare regulatory standards. T5 has received third-party attestations for compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act, and the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard.

Compliance extends to T5’s colocation services as well as its wholesale data center services and gives T5 a competitive advantage when bidding for healthcare and transaction-driven contracts, especially for data center customers since certification for wholesale data centers is less common. To qualify, T5 worked with independent auditors to verify that all the necessary physical and network security components were in place.

“We are seeing more RFPs from healthcare service providers, insurance companies, e-commerce companies, and financial institutions that need assurance that our facilities comply with the latest security standards,” said Frank Lyles, Chief Business Officer for T5 Data Centers. “We elected to use a third-party auditor so our customers could be confident in our standards compliance, and so we could expand security testing beyond the scope of the standards. I am pleased to say that our physical and network security procedures were tested and found to meet or exceed the rigor of the applicable standards.”

The HIPAA Security Rule is a national standard to protect patient medical records and personal health information. It requires appropriate safeguards to protect personal health information, including standards for the safe handling of patient data. The HITECH standard promotes the adoption of health information technology, including the secure electronic transmission of health information. PCI-DSS is a set of industry security standards that ensures that all companies that accept, process, store, and/or transmit credit card information, maintain a secure environment.
