Hola Publishing Expands in the Mexican Market, Calling for New Voices to Share their Stories

Hola Publishing International offers authors publishing and printing services with global distribution.

San Antonio, TX, USA, July 2, 2018 — New publishing and print options for authors are now available in the Mexican market. Hola Publishing International offers authors publishing and printing services with global distribution. The growth of this affordable publishing option has been limited in the Mexico market because printers only offer their services directly to traditional publishers.

With already established digital printing facilities in the United States, United Kingdom, China, India, and Germany, to name a few, Halo Publishing International has recently expanded their Spanish Language Imprint, Hola Publishing, in the Mexican market.

By offering POD (Print on Demand) services, which are a rarity in Mexico, Hola’s goal is to encourage more writers to publish their stories. Authors and organizations no longer face the barrier of having to order 2,000 books. They can place smaller orders ranging from 25 to 1,000 books and receive global distribution to sell their books around the world.

Publisher and CEO, Lisa M. Umina comments, “Our company is set up to work with small self-published authors as well as corporations, embassies, government, non-profits, and universities. Our Mexican authors have been successful;for example, we published the story of Luchandopor mi vida, mi historiaby Clarita Sierra who has been recognized and become a national speaker in schools around Mexico with her best-selling memoir about her son struggling with addiction.”

Cecilia Sotres, Hola’s publishing consultant, adds, “We saw a gap in the Mexican digital print market, and we are so excited to bring new opportunities to Mexico to publish previously unheard voices from throughout the country.”

According to Sotres, “We are at the cutting edge of this industry. We provide global digital distribution for all our books in paperback, hardcover, and e-book. Our authors retain 100% rights to their books.”

Hola Publishing has found a way to reduce barriers to the high costs associated with shipping to Mexico from the United States, and they are proud to offer a product that is produced entirely in Mexico. By streamlining this process, they have been able to reduce turnaround time to 60 days in print while maintaining an extremely high quality finished product.

“The direction we are taking is to collaborate with the corporate world and working with large educational institutes. Printers here in Mexico have open arms about partnering with us to give our customer’s the best pricing and product,” says Umina.

Positivity Can Save Your Life, Woman Proves by Overcoming Battle against Rare Cancer

A cancer diagnosis is difficult for anyone to receive, and Donna Moore’s prognosis was not optimistic.

San Antonio, TX, USA, June 15, 2018 — “I was told from the beginning that most people’s bodies can’t handle the treatment, let alone withstand the cancer,” Moore recounts.

In 2010, she was diagnosed with Adenosarcoma, a rare type of uterine cancer. When the cancer was discovered to be metastatic, her oncologist prepared for the worst. “The treatment for metastatic cancer focuses on extending and maintaining one’s quality of life—not finding a cure. At least this was the situation when I first met Donna Moore,” medical oncologist Michael S. Gordon writes.

“In that moment, I realized we had an uphill battle and we were going to have to start treatment right away,” explains Moore.

In addition to starting treatment, Moore began to read about other cancer patients who had survived the disease. “I wanted to know what they did to survive. The common thread was if you don’t keep the energy in your body flowing positively it will impede treatment. I focused a lot on keeping my energy flow positive, and a lot of that was humor. A lot of it was God.”

Her “adventure with cancer,” as Moore has dubbed it, meant trying everything and anything that promised to help her heal. From essential oils to energy work and traditional treatments, Moore was open to everything. She began writing regular e-mail updates, and she realized that she was not only keeping her friends and family apprised of her status but also entertained by her upbeat stories about this trying chapter of her life.

It was this e-mail correspondence that prompted Moore to write a book so that her story could be a resource to others who were facing an especially challenging life situation or disease.

Of the book, Moore comments, “I hope it will help people to approach these difficult situations positively and to add humor to it. To be able to laugh at a difficulty and not to take it so seriously. People need to know that there are so many different ways of healing yourself, and everybody has a unique approach.”

Defeating this rare cancer, Moore overcame odds that were undeniably stacked against her.

“It wouldn’t be a stretch to say that Donna’s recovery was nothing short of miraculous,” adds Publisher Lisa M. Umina. “This author illustrates so clearly that, in a world where many take a poor prognosis as a death sentence, there is room for positivity, faith, and incredible healing.”

For more information about Donna Moore, visit www.handlewithlovebydonna.com and www.halopublishing.com. “Handle With Love: One Woman’s Approach to Kicking a Nasty-Ass Cancer” is now available at Halo Publishing International and Amazon in Paperback for $14.95, and as an e-Book for $4.98.

Jerome N. Okoye Advocates Invigorating Faith to Fulfill Our Human Potential

Having overcome numerous adversities as a boy growing up in Nigeria, Jerome N. Okoye is creating a platform to share this powerful message.

San Antonio, TX, USA, June 14, 2018 — “You have been created for much more.”

Having overcome numerous adversities as a boy growing up in Nigeria, Jerome N. Okoye is creating a platform to share this powerful message.

Although Nigeria is Africa’s biggest economy, about 67% of the population still lives below the poverty line, a reality with which Jerome is intimately familiar.

From growing up as a child in Ajengule—one of Nigeria’s most notorious slums—to never being sure if there would be enough to eat, Jerome went on to get a degree in electrical engineering and a post-graduate degree in electric power systems engineering. He now has a successful career working for General Electric as a salesman, as well as a budding private consulting business.

“Electricity has always been fascinating to me, how something so simple can illuminate so much. The same is true with knowledge. If you can make things a bit clearer, if you can expose people to true knowledge, they can find out the rest for themselves. I’ve always looked to illuminate this path.”

This is Jerome’s goal with his new book, “Calling on the Deep: The Believer’s Quest for Revival,” where he aims to challenge the status quo, and encourage people to re-evaluate their relationship with their faith.

Although he himself once knew the very depths of lack and uncertainty, Jerome emphasizes that material wealth is not the ultimate goal: “We are more than just wealth itself. Wealth for the sake of being wealthy is meaningless. What is important to me is speaking to people about the truth of human potential. I know without a shadow of a doubt, that we have unlimited potential, and can do whatever we set our hearts to.”

Publisher Lisa M. Umina adds, “This author has a powerful perspective to share. His message is relevant not only for the Nigerian audience but for the world.”

For more information about Jerome N. Okoye visit www.halopublishing.com. “Calling on the Deep” is now available at Halo Publishing International, Amazon, and Barnes and Noble, Goodreads, and Books a Million in Paperback for $14.95, and as an e-Book for $9.99.

Social-Emotional Learning an Indispensable Component of Childhood Development, Education Professionals Affirm

Special Education professionals, Jessica Tukaj and Amanda Derrick, are working to facilitate positive change within an education system that works on a “one size fits all” model.

San Antonio, TX, USA, June 9, 2018 —Special Education professionals, Jessica Tukaj and Amanda Derrick, are working to facilitate positive change within an education system that works on a “one size fits all” model.

Standardized testing has been on the rise since 2002 when the No Child Left Behind act was passed. But these kinds of standardized tests have been shown to cause extreme stress in younger students, and it has not increased student achievement, with US ranking dropping in math and science according to the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA).

“With the continued raising of standards, children are facing more pressure in the school system than arguably ever before. Many children feel they do not fit into this mold and expected time frame. It’s important for students and parents to recognize that all students will develop in their own way and in their own time,” Derrick affirms.

For both Derrick and Tukaj, these conversations about school systems and different educational models date back to when they studied Special Education together at Florida Gulf Coast University.

Now, as professionals working in the field, these concerns are apparent in the workplace and beyond. “We need to look at the whole child including their social-emotional development, which is a big part of what we think is lacking in the school system. There’s so much more to a child than if they can read by the age of five or write cursive by the time they’re in third grade.”

On a personal note, Derrick adds, “We both have unique kids. They are great and amazing children, however we have learned as parents they do things in their own time and in their own way just like so many other children do, and that’s okay.”

To tackle these issues, the two women decided to team-up to create a children’s book that presents a new perspective, teaching children the value of being a unique individual. “There is a lack of knowledge and resources addressing social-emotional development, which is why we decided to create this book,” says Tukaj. “Our goal is to provide tools for parents and teachers to start developing these skills with their children.”

Teaching social-emotional skills as well as science lessons, “These books are not only fun and engaging for children, but they present an essential message to educators and parents alike about the type of messages they need to be instilling in children,” comments publisher Lisa M. Umina.

Ilene Sims Encourages Others to Break Free and Become Empowered

Working as a pastor, Ilene Sims has been trained to listen and watch others carefully.

San Antonio, TX, USA, May 30, 2018 — “Working with young people and adults alike, I know firsthand that there can be, at certain times, many areas in our lives that are hurting.”

This is a reality that she faces every day in her work as a hospice chaplain, giving spiritual guidance to those in need during the last stages of their lives, as well as providing support to families and loved ones.

However, at a difficult time in her own life, after having gone through a divorce, a friend gave Sims a gift that would forever change her outlook on her life, as well as those around her. Her friend gave her a red-factor canary, named Frankie. Red-factor canaries are unique from other birds because their owner can actually influence their color.

Sims had had birds before, but never one quite like Frankie.

The relationship between animals and humans is something that modern science is just beginning to understand. For instance, innovative medicine programs are beginning to accept that there is much to learn from a cross-disciplinary approach between human and animal medicine, for example.

But even beyond the field of medicine, the parallels between humans and animals have much to teach us about who we are.

“You can overcome difficulty. That’s what I learned from Frankie. There comes a time to trust somebody. Frankie would perk up in the morning: he recognized my voice. As humans, we share that same ability to go to the Lord. There is help and there is hope, but you will never meet your full potential if you are hiding.”

The series of events that Sims shared with Frankie were so profound that she decided to write a book about it, using her experience with Frankie as a metaphor for her own life and challenges, one that she knows can speak to a diversity of readers who are going through their own challenges.

“This is a time on the earth when people need hope more than perhaps ever before,” Sims says. “My intention is for my book to give them that hope.”

“This is a unique account of the bond between a bird and a woman that can offer readers of any age insight into their own lives,” adds publisher Lisa M. Umina.

Shields Takes Readers on an Unforgettable Journey Into Loss and Love

What happens when you surrender and trust? This is the question central to Tim Shields’ first novel, “A Curious Year in the Great Vivarium Experiment.”

San Antonio, TX, USA – May 9, 2018 — On the morning of his thirty-sixth birthday, Thomas Furey finds himself alone and jobless. Devastated by the recent loss of his mother, he feels untethered, like he is falling into the depths of something he can’t describe. On a whim, he buys a one-way ticket to India. Possessed by fear, armed with hope, protected by naïveté, and guided by intention, when Thomas learns to operate in alignment with his true self, serendipity intervenes.

Taking inspiration from his own life and travels, Shields says, “After a decade bookended by sick and dying parents, I decided to set out to try and uncover what I’ve always called my ‘soul ache.” He adds, “I think each of us has our own soul ache, and whether we are conscious of it or not, it’s one of the central drivers of our life.”

As Thomas journeys all over Southeast Asia for a year, he learns about becoming a man in the shadow of his parent’s death, surrendering his past and trusting the future that is pulling him forward, and the power of gratitude and intention to shape his reality.

“This book is about overcoming the self, that voice in our head that’s not loving or kind to us. Beyond that, there’s a much deeper philosophy at play about the nature of reality and the role of consciousness to shape it.” Shields adds with laughter, “It’s kind of like a ‘Portrait of the Artist’ as a middle-aged, spiritual man. Thomas is an artist searching for his voice and a writer searching for his story.”

“Sitting on the mountain, it occurred to me that traveling was a lot like writing,” says the protagonist. “When you sit down to write, you have no idea where you’ll be when you get to the end. Sometimes the journey is joyful, sometimes it’s terrifying, and sometimes it reduces you to tears of gratitude or despair. And sometimes the most fantastic, serendipitous events get you to the next chapter when you simply do the work, stay open to ideas, and follow where they lead you.”

As publisher Lisa Michelle Umina observes, “We are releasing this book at a time when, more than ever before, people are inquiring about the nature of our existence. This book challenges readers to find their own answers and seek their own stories.”

Shields’ nephew and godson, Jack Shields, created an original musical score for the book’s theatrical trailer. This collaboration led to the creation of an original soundtrack for the book, which is currently being shopped around to record labels. To view the book trailer and for more information, visit the book’s website: www.acuriousyear.com.

The book is now available globally at Halo Publishing International, Amazon, and Barnes and Noble, Goodreads and Books a Million in Hardcover for $26.95, in Paperback for $19.95, and as an e-Book for $9.99.

New Children’s Book “Forever Evergreen” Takes Readers on an Adventure to Learn About Forgiveness

In her debut children’s book, “Forever Evergreen,” Kay Roberts tells the compelling story of Red, an adventurous sparrow who dares to leave his home in search of adventure.

San Antonio, TX (USA), March 29th, 2018 — In her debut children’s book, “Forever Evergreen,” Kay Roberts tells the compelling story of Red, an adventurous sparrow who dares to leave his home in search of adventure. Red finds unexpected allies along the way, as he navigates the Enchanted Forest. However, when trouble befalls him, Red must rely on the help of his new friends if he ever wants to make it back home. When Mother Nature intervenes, the entire forest is affected by her decision.

Roberts takes readers on an unforgettable journey, imparting valuable life lessons about forgiveness, hope, and compassion. The book is brought to life with vivid illustrations by KimSponaugle.

While developing the six main characters, Roberts was inspired by her own grandchildren, using their traits to craft her characters. “Each character evolved. The main character, Red, takes after my grandson who is an adventurous type and a free-thinking individual.”

The storyline began as an oral tale that Roberts first heard from her husband who grew up in an orphanage. “One evening we were talking about childhood memories, and he said he remembered somebody telling him a little story about a bird getting hurt and a fir tree picking him up and caring for him.” After she heard the story, Roberts waited for a while but eventually, she knew she had to put her versiondown on paper.

“I am so glad to have this story as a part of our spring collection,” says publisher, Lisa Umina. “This is a fun and engaging way for children to learn about how their actions can have unexpected consequences.”

The author’s hope is for children to use this book to spark their imagination. “I would love to get this story in the hands of children and have them go on a journey with the book, too. I love when children use their imagination. If they can think beyond, if they can let their mind wander, that’s what I would love.”

Roberts says that writing and publishing a book is a dream that she had since she was in the fifth grade. She has inspirational advice for readers: “I want everybody to know, no matter how old you are, if you have a dream, go for it! You’re never too old to do what you really want to do.”

“Forever Evergreen” is now available at Halo Publishing International, Amazon, and Barnes and Noble, Goodreads and Books a Million in Hardcover for $19.98 and as an e-Book for $7.98.

Powerful Children’s Book Supports Children of Incarcerated Parents

Dr. Dakota King-White is passionate about children succeeding and believes that all children can succeed if given the right tools and opportunities.

Cleveland, OH (USA), January 25, 2018 — Dr. Dakota King-White is passionate about children succeeding and believes that all children can succeed if given the right tools and opportunities. According to the Pew Report published in 2013, there are more than 2.7 million children in the United States who have one parent currently serving time in prison. While conducting research in K-12 schools, Dr. King-White encountered a number of children who were suffering from parental incarceration and discovered the importance of providing them with an opportunity to communicate how that experience made them feel. It was from this research that she wrote her first children’s book “Oh No! When a Parent Goes Away.”

“This is a difficult subject to talk about and therefore unless we purposefully set out to help youth share their feelings, their reactions get bottled up and begin to emerge in unhealthy ways,” said Dr. King-White. “Oh No! When a Parent Goes Away” is an interactive book schools, parents, caregivers, counselors, agencies, and court systems can use to help guide children through the experience of sharing their emotions, either through pictures or words.

“My hope is that this book will provide a tool for families and schools to work with children while giving them a safe place to process their emotions,” said Dr. King-White. By using this book with children who have a parent in jail, they have an opportunity to recognize that the emotions they feel are in fact, quite normal. It is normal to be sad or anxious, fearful or angry and through the journal prompts within the book, children are encouraged to express their feelings. “When children who have a parent incarcerated don’t have a vehicle for verbalizing their feelings, they can become sullen or angry,” said Dr. King-White.

“Oh No! When a Parent Goes Away” is designed for elementary school-age students, six to 12 years old. Dr. King-White is also the co-founder of Making A Difference Consulting and is currently working on her follow-up book designed for teens in middle school and high school who are also struggling to come to terms with parental incarceration.

“Oh No! When a Parent Goes Away” is now available at Halo Publishing, Amazon and Barnes and Noble, in paperback for $19.95 and as an e-book for $9.99.

About Dr. Dakota King-White:
Dr. Dakota King-White has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, a Master of Arts in Counseling, and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Counselor Education and Supervision. She has done extensive research on the impact of parental incarceration on children and the psychological, emotional, and behavioral effects of incarceration. Through her research, she has designed a group counseling curriculum for the children of incarcerated parents, which has been implemented in K-12 education. She has also designed a mental health model that is used in K-12 education to help address the mental health needs of students within the academic setting. The model utilizes an interdisciplinary approach to address mental health needs within schools. Dr. King-White is passionate about children succeeding and believes that ALL children can succeed if given the right tools and opportunities.

“The Boy Who Couldn’t Be Seen” Provides Hope for Marginalized Children

Being a child no one wants is a horrible position for any youngest, especially the young boy in first time author, Michael Joffoy’s book “The Boy Who Couldn’t Be Seen.”

Denver, CO (USA), January 20, 2018 — Being a child no one wants is a horrible position for any youngest, especially the young boy in first time author, Michael Joffoy’s book “The Boy Who Couldn’t Be Seen.” Abandoned by his parents and mistreated by his relatives, the young boy of Joffoy’s book is lonely, angry and desperate for the family life he sees his friends living. As a result of his upbringing, he makes questionable life choices, suffering the consequences until, through the help of a church recovery program, God enters his life and brings him hope for a new tomorrow.

“This story is one that I lived,” admits author Michael Joffoy. “I wish I had spoken up and asked for help but I didn’t understand that there were people willing to offer hope to me and so I suffered alone, my only companion my cat Pepper who followed me everywhere.”

The story and illustrations depict a harsh reality for young Michael until he encounters members of a local church through a recovery program. Through their kindness and generosity, he learns about the value in serving others and created this book as a way of reaching other marginalized children who can so easily be lost in the fray.

“My hope is that children who are experiencing similar situations will read my book and find hope,” said Joffoy. “And hopefully teachers, parents and caregivers who read this story will understand the important role they play in the nurturing of young children.”

The Boy Who Couldn’t Be Seen” is written and illustrated by Joffoy and is a testimony to his faith in God and in the ability for those who struggle to have second chances at a loving and fulfilled life. Joffoy’s book Is already making a difference in reader’s lives.

Lee D Preston, an Amazon reader and reviewer has this to say:
“This book is an excellent book for those working through emotional abuse and history of neglect. Although it is written through the eyes of a child, it is intuitively helpful for adults as they get in touch with their own wounding and hurt. I recommend this book as a healing source for anyone who’s going through the trauma of childhood abuse and neglect and wants healing.”

“I admire Michael for his willingness to share his past and to offer hope and healing to readers, young and old,” said Lisa Umina, founder and president of Halo Publishing International. “I believe this is an important book for children who are suffering but also for all children so that parents can begin the discussions of speaking up and asking for help when necessary.”

“The Boy Who Couldn’t Be Seen”is now available at Halo Publishing, Amazon and Barnes and Noble, inhard cover for $21.95, in paperback for $11.95 and as an e-book for $9.99.

About Michael Joffoy:

“Hair Loss: Options for Restoration & Reversal” Wins the Best Book Awards for 2017

Award-winning author Gustavo J. Gomez has once again received recognition for one of his thoroughly researched and well-received books.

Miami, FL (USA), January 04, 2018 — Award-winning author Gustavo J. Gomez has once again received recognition for one of his thoroughly researched and well-received books. This time the award goes to his newest book “HAIR LOSS: Options for Restoration & Reversal” which was selected as an American Book Fest 2017 Best Book of the Year Finalist in the General Health category.

“The Best Book Awards launched in 2003 by Jeffrey Keen, President and CEO of American Book Fest. Now in its 15th year, the Best Book Awards is considered one of the largest mainstream and independent book award competition in the United States.”

“I am honored to have received this award,” said Gustavo Gomez. “It is a validation of the hard work and dedication that I put into everything I write. I have spent years researching the subject of hair loss, treatment options, the emotional impact and the solutions that are available, and this award is a wonderful recognition of that hard work.”

“HAIR LOSS” is essential reading for those already afflicted or beginning to experience a certain degree of hair loss. Fortunately for the stricken, hair-loss research is making significant discoveries that could potentially lead to a permanent cure for androgenetic or common hair loss.

Although the book was just published five months ago, readers are already responding in an overwhelmingly positive manner with such comments as this one from Readers’ Favorite Reviewer Ray Simmons:

“I am a methodical person and I like to approach problems like hair loss in a systematic and scientific manner. I would rather read a book by an expert than react to a sixty-second infomercial. The only drawback to this way of doing things is finding the right book. If you are in a similar situation as to what you can do about hair loss, let me assure you. This is the book for you.

“HAIR LOSS: Options for Restoration & Reversal” by Gustavo J. Gomez does exactly what the title and subtitle implies. It lists your options to combat and restore the loss of hair in a clear and very organized manner, one that is not intent on selling you something but just giving you information you can use.” The writing is clear and concise. The explanations reasonable and scientific. In fact, it is rare to find the book that tells you everything you need to know on a subject. When it comes to hair loss, Gustavo J. Gomez has written that book.

Gomez’s book isn’t just for men, in fact reviewer Gisela Dixon had this to say:
“HAIR LOSS: Options for Restoration & Reversal” is so well written that anybody with no prior understanding of the field can easily pick up and learn all of the information they need. I was impressed with Gustavo’s obvious and in-depth knowledge of the field, and also his ability to make the subject easy to understand as well as interesting to read! Hair loss is such a common occurrence among people all over the world, regardless of race or ethnicity that I am sure many people will truly benefit from learning more about the underlying science of hair and also be able to choose wisely from all of the treatment options available. This is a very useful book that I would recommend!”

“HAIR LOSS: Options for Restoration & Reversal” is now available at Halo Publishing, Amazon and Barnes and Noble, in Hardcover for $34.95, Paperback for $25.95, and eBook for $9.99.

About Gustavo J. Gomez, Ph.D.:
Gustavo has been a successful entrepreneur, educator, healthcare consultant, and businessman for the past thirty-five years. His educational background and business experience have made him exceptionally versatile, achieving numerous successes in both the healthcare and business fields. As a multiple-award-winning author possessing this academic versatility allows Gustavo the ability to research and write about healthcare, entrepreneurial and business-related issues.

His interest in the causes of hair-loss related issues surfaced 35 years ago when he began to experience some hair thinning. To prevent the problem from advancing beyond control, he began to educate himself about the causes and conditions that can lead to hair loss. In his search for a possible solution to correct and/or ameliorate his hair-loss condition, he experimented with a myriad of balding prevention recommendations.

This empirical journey of discovery is the reason behind the creation of this useful and informative book about alopecia (hair loss), its causes, treatments and promising future trends. In essence, it is still a journey that continues in an attempt to uncover the options for restoration and reversal of hair loss.

The objective of this new book, entitled “HAIR LOSS: Options for Restoration & Reversal” is to educate the consuming public about the effectiveness of the many available hair-loss treatment modalities the consumer will be subjected to. This is an important and valuable book for both men and women who are afflicted with hair loss problems. The book provides the reader with a historical perspective regarding hair loss, as well as the present and future trends of alopecia research.
