Mumbai, India, July 22, 2015 — With Indian consumption of Sri Lankan tea rising rapidly, the Sri Lanka Tea Board has reserved a special pavilion at the 3rd edition of World Tea & Coffee Expo (WTCE) 2015 being held at Mumbai, India’s commercial capital, from 1st Oct 2015 to 3rd Oct 2015. Under the aegis of the Sri Lanka Tea Board, a number of companies shall be showcasing various kinds of bulk and packet Tea with a view to increase bilateral trade with India. During the current year itself (i.e. 2015), Sri Lanka has exported more than 300 tonnes of Tea to India. Sri Lankan companies shall be displaying Ceylon Super Pekoe black tea, Ceylon green tea, White Tea, Ceylon Silver tip tea, Instant Tea and special types of tea for which Sri Lanka is famous.

According to Mr. Y.G.Wijeratne, Chairman, Sri Lanka Tea Board, “India has a large and growing consumer base with varied levels of income,making it a great market for all kinds of Tea. Our participation in WTCE 2015 will enable us to promote Sri Lankan companies in India at a dedicated trade fair which provides an opportunity to directly interact with Indian buyers, potential partners and government officials”

Although India is the second largest producer of tea in the world – because of its population size – it is also the 2ndlargest consumer of Tea. With changing lifestyles, large-scale urbanization and mushrooming of upscale cafes for both Tea & Coffee, demand for non traditional tea like Premium tea, green tea, white tea etc is growing at a whopping 20% annually. Due to shortage of high quality premium tea supply in India, Indian branded tea companies buy premium tea from Kenya and Sri Lanka.

2nd World Tea & Coffee Expo Ends With a Positive Note; Attracts 4100 Business Visitors from India & Abroad

Mumbai, India, October 28th, 2014 — The 2nd edition of World Tea & Coffee Expo (http://www.worldteacoffeeexpo.com), India’s only International trade show dedicated to the Tea & Coffee Sectors ended successfully on 13th September 2014 with positive reviews from exhibitors and visitors alike. The Expo, held at Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai, INDIA from 11th Sept till 13th Sept 2014, offers the only trade platform in India for the Hot Beverage industry for networking, business expansion and ideas exchange.

INMEX and SMM India on the Crest of a Wave

Global exhibition organizers join forces to launch Indian subcontinent’s largest maritime event – INMEX SMM India.

Mumbai, India, September 06, 2014 — Taking advantage of the expected growth the Indian maritime industry is set to witness over the next six years, Informa Exhibitions, organizers of INMEX India, has entered in to a strategic collaboration with Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH, organisers of SMM India, to form South Asia’s largest maritime exhibition and conference.

New age products like Herbal tea, Green tea, White tea, Java tea and Lemon grass tea alongwith a variety of Cappuccino products could be seen for the first time in India at this trade exhibition. Hi tech machinery for mass-producing Tea Bags and Plastic based but food grade raw material for tea and coffee disposable cups were also on display. Trade Buyers and business visitors were able to acquaint themselves with the trends in the Indian & Global markets and could decide on the future course of business expansion. A number of alliances were struck and large business deals took place.

Contiguous Conferences & Seminars by Industry leaders charted out the course for the modernization, expansion and upgradation of the Global Hot beverage sector as also predicted the future growth and impact of the Independent Café Culture.

According to Mr Suresh Kotak, Chairman, Kotak Commodities Ltd, who inaugurated the trade event, “Thriving Independent Upscale Café Culture will ensure huge growth in domestic Ready to Drink (RTD) Tea & Coffee sectors aided by the health benefits of Tea & Coffee. The event being first of its kind, where interaction was so intense, that it is bound to address some real serious issues impacting the industry.”

According to an Assocham study the domestic tea industry is growing annually at 15%. The study further states that India accounts for nearly 30% of global Tea output and nearly 25% of tea produced worldwide is consumed in India. Cafe chains (both Tea & Coffee) are expected to generate a turnover of $410 million in India by 2017. Internationally, the market for RTD tea and coffee in terms of revenue is expected to reach US $125 billion by 2017 as against US $69 billion in 2011 (estimated) signaling an anticipated annual growth of 10.9 % 2012 to 2017.

From our participation in WTCE, we are sure that there is lot of potential for these teas here in India as everybody seems to be interested in these high end teas. We have lot of footfalls to our stall and our participation really went off well.”
