Las Vegas, NV (USA), August 05, 2014 — The SmartTOP Convertible Top Add-On kit offered by aftermarket automotive electronics specialist Mods4cars is now available for the just recently introduced BMW 4 Series Convertible. The product makes daily life with the convertible top a much more enjoyable experience. On one hand the top can be operated while driving at slow speeds and with one-touch convenience. It is no longer necessary to hold down the top switch. The SmartTOP customer gets to put both hands back on the steering wheel quickly.

On the other hand it is possible to control the top from the original key fob remote. “Our customers get the convenience to be able to operate the top fully automatically from a distance by just giving a command on the existing remote, even if they did not order the Comfort Access feature and also in countries where remote operation is not available at all.” explains PR-Manager Sven Tornow. This makes it possible to open the top while still approaching the car in order to air it out on hot days or to start the drive top-down. The top can also be closed from a distance, should dark clouds signal an imminent rainfall. No changes need to be made to the key fobs or the receiver system.

“We are delighted to be able to bring the SmartTOP for the new BMW 4 Series to market just weeks after the car itself became available. After having gotten many requests beforehand, we did everything possible so most of our customer will be able to enjoy the full SmartTOP convenience right after taking delivery of their 4 Series.” Sven Tornow continues. In addition to the main functions the module also offers a few bonus features such as separate control over windows and top from the remote and a setting to reverse the console top switch direction. An extended mode can be activated which allows starting or stopping of the engine while the top is in motion. The entire module can be deactivated temporarily when needed, while all user configurable settings are retained for when it is turned back on later.

Installation of the kit could not be easier. The SmartTOP module itself comes in the new, custom designed and very slim product enclosure which houses two LEDs for status information. A special OEM connector wiring adapter is also part of the kit. It connects the module to the car electronics by simply plugging in two connectors. The SmartTOP module comes with a built-in USB port for easy configuration via PC or Mac. Support software and also firmware updates for the SmartTOP products are available free of charge online.

The add-on kit for the new BMW 4 Series Convertible is available for 299 Euros + tax. SmartTOP is available for other BMWs like 1 Series, 3 Series, 6 Series, Z4 and also Mini.
