Art Gallery Named Cortez Austin as Featured Artist
Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is pleased to announce that wildlife photographer Cortez Austin is the gallery’s newest featured artist.
Jupiter, FL, USA — Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is pleased to announce that wildlife photographer Cortez Austin is the gallery’s newest featured artist. Cortez Austin bought a 35mm camera from a friend in 1976 and started on a long photographic journey which has taken him around the world recording the wonders of nature. Cortez graduated from Howard University in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology. He continued his education there taking graduate courses in microbiology. It was the great outdoors, however, rather than the laboratory that captured his passion.
Cortez has written articles for and has had his photographs published by some of the most prestigious magazines and book publishing companies such as National Geographic, WildBird, Birder’s World, National Audubon and the Nature Conservancy. He also taught nature photography part-time as a part of the upper school two dimensional art program at St. Albans School in Washington, D.C. for 23 years.
During his 39 year career Cortez has won many awards and recognition in domestic and international competitions such as the Professional Photographers of America International Print Competition with whom he has photos in the coveted Loan Collection. In January he will receive the Master of Photography Degree from them along with a Silver Medal for having all of his images accepted into their most recent competition.
Cortez believes that, as much knowledge as you may accumulate in photography, the best photographers will always be students of the craft. Regarding his quest for photographs he states… “I make many sacrifices of money, comfort and safety to get to where I want to photograph. Once I get there I struggle to see things a new way, to get beyond the standard photograph. 5th Annual “Nature” Exhibition Results Announced by Art Gallery
Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is pleased to announce that its August 2015 art exhibition, the 5th Annual “Nature” Online Art Exhibition is now posted on their website and can now be viewed online.
Jupiter, FL, USA — Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is pleased to announce that its August 2015 art exhibition, the 5th Annual “Nature” Online Art Exhibition is now posted on their website and can now be viewed online. The theme for this art exhibition is Nature. Subjects that would encompass the “Nature” theme would include geographical subjects, landscapes, natural objects, wildlife and natural environments.
An international art competition was held in July 2015 which determined the art for this exhibition. The gallery received submissions from 22 different countries and also received entries from 36 different states. Overall, 660 entries were judged for this art competition.
Congratulations to the artists who have been designated as this month’s category winners, along with the winning Special Merit and Special Recognition artists. The gallery commends all of the winning artists for their artistic skill and their creativity, as this online art exhibition is indicative of their creativity.

Jupiter, FL, USA (July 22, 2015) — Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery announces a call for entries for the gallery’s 5th Annual “Open” Online Art Competition for the month of August 2015. The gallery encourages entries from artists, regardless of where they reside to apply to this competition by submitting their best representational and non-representational art. There is no theme for this art competition.
A group exhibition of the top ten finalists will be held online at the Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery during the month of September 2015. Awards will be for 1st through 5th places. Also, 5 Honorable Mention places will be awarded. In addition, depending on the amount and the quality of the entries, Special Merit and Special Recognition awards will also be given as well. The submission process and the deadline will end on August 27, 2015.
The Guest Judge for this competition is Jeffrey Shonkwiler. He is the Founder of Florida Artists Registry, a member supported arts organization, created in 2000. He is past director of Gallery at Avalon Island where he curated over 60 exhibits. Jupiter, FL, USA — Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is very pleased to announce that Arturo Gonzalez is the gallery’s newest featured artist. He will now be promoted in the gallery’s artist showcase for the next 30 days.
Arturo Gonzalez was born in Chicago, IL and he still resides in the area today. It wasn’t until 2010 that Arturo discovered a passion for photography.
The positive feedback from his friends helped fuel his growing love of photography. Arturo then upgraded his camera gear to a Nikon DSLR and he started to visit places he had only dreamed of including Hawaii, London, Rome, Paris, and Barcelona.
For Arturo, traveling and photography made the perfect combination. He explains, “You are exposed to many things you don’t see at home and photography allows you to capture those memories. In essence, you become a storyteller and photography becomes the medium you tell the story in. The internet allows the story to reach millions if you desire.”
Cityscapes and landscapes are Arturo’s favorite themes to capture in photography. Chicago is one of the best cities for people to capture beautiful cityscape photos. The national parks in the USA are second to none for landscape photography. An area that Arturo would like to delve into in the future is astrophotography. The theme for this art exhibition is figurative and this is considered to be figures, forms and faces. Artists were asked to submit their best nonobjective or representational art for this competition.
An international art competition was held in June 2015 which determined the art for this exhibition. The gallery received submissions from 21 different countries and also received entries from 37 different states. Overall, 643 entries were judged for this art competition. The Guest Judge for this competition was Mary Kee, Principal and Creative Director of TheArtGuide.com.
