About ‘Art Bengaluru’:
Launched in March 2010, ‘Art Bengaluru’ was started with the aim of celebrating art in its various forms. The idea behind the 10-day festival was to bring a multitude of artists and art forms from across India and the world under one roof, thus promoting art awareness as well as a deeper understanding of the arts. With advances in technology, as the world of Art grew to include newer and more exciting forms, ‘Art Bengaluru’ grew with it. After five successful editions, this annual art soiree has grown to become one of the most reputed art festivals in India today.

The venue for Art Bengaluru is the highly-acclaimed, The Collection, UB City, which is conveniently located in the heart of cosmopolitan Bangalore. About the Bentley Mulsanne:
The Mulsanne is much more than a simple pairing of luxury with power. Its fearsome acceleration, for example, is felt not as a sudden blast forward, but as a smooth surge of seemingly limitless power. The character of the V8 engine note, barely perceptible from inside the cabin while the car is cruising, builds to a rich, powerful roar on acceleration when the throttle is opened wide. For those with the drive to change the world, the Mulsanne is much more than a supremely comfortable car. It is both a place to make plans and a catalyst that can make them happen. The Mulsanne benefits from a re-engineered V8 engine, providing extra range and improvements in efficiency of 13%. Yet with an 8-speed automatic transmission boasting an electronic shift interface, there is no compromise on performance: The Mulsanne is capable of 184 mph (296 km/h). While a Sport mode exists for the serious driver – complete with a steering wheel-mounted paddleshift system – it is important to note that the Mulsanne was built for more than dynamic driving. Because life is about more than the speed one can get from A to B. It’s about the quality of the driving experience and the style in which the story is written.

International Artist Liu Bolin Exhibits a Special Creation at “Art Bengaluru 2014”

“The Invisible Man” performs live in India for the first time.

Bangalore, India, 27th August, 2014 — In a mesmerising display of performance art, renowned camouflage artist, Liu Bolin, vanished into his painting to craft yet another indelible memory at Art Bengaluru 2014. Showcasing his work in India for the first time, the artist created an installation titled “Charger Series – Peony No. 2” and also put up a live performance for the inauguration of the Art Festival, where he emerged from a Magazine Rack. South India’s biggest Art Festival, Art Bengaluru’s 5th Edition is being held at The Collection at UB City, Bangalore from 21st to 30th August, 2014.

Beijing-based artist, Liu Bolin, uses art as a medium to comment on society and repressive social norms. His best known photo series, “Hiding in the City”, took form in November 2005 when the Beijing city management demolished Suo Jia Cun – Asia’s largest international artist village and Liu Bolin’s home. As a silent protest to this event, Liu Bolin started his now legendary series Hiding in the City, which has spread beyond China countries like France, Italy & U.S.A.

Art Bengaluru began in 2009 as a quest to encourage & develop a thriving community of artists & art connoisseurs in Bangalore. Each year, the festival puts forth new art concepts for its audience; this year the event has scaled new heights with Bolin’s engaging performance at the inauguration. The Opening Night saw this talented artist blend into rows of shelves lined with magazines.

Uzma Irfan – Executive Director, Corporate Communications – Prestige Group, Founder – Sublime Galleria and Conceptualizer & Organizer – Art Bengaluru said, “We are honoured to have an artist of the caliber of Liu Bolin at Art Bengaluru who will unveil an exclusive creation for the event. Each year Art Bengaluru aims to get bigger & better and this time we have reached a new level with the artworks & artists, which will place the festival on the global art map. I urge all of you to join us in celebrating these unique creations of art which are displayed at the festival.”

Speaking about Art Bengaluru, Artist Liu Bolin said, “Art Bengaluru is an incredible platform for artists to display their works. Over the years, the organisers of this festival have done their best to promote & support artists from diverse backgrounds and it is a pleasure to perform & showcase my work in India for the first time at Art Bengaluru.”

Another work of art by Bolin, which has held the audience captive, is his installation the Charger Series which has originated from the artist’s dissatisfaction towards material possessions. This work of art shows cell phone chargers plugged into steel forms of the human body. The cell phone charger serves as an indicator of the boundless desires of human beings.

Artist Bolin explains the concept, “As we carry more and more burdens on our shoulders, we are gradually pulled away from the essence of life. In my work, the variety of brands, styles & sizes of the chargers demonstrates the diversity of life while also exhibiting the traces of human desire. As functional objects become unusable, they perfectly represent the unappeasable nature of human desire.”

A form of social commentary, Bolin’s artworks warn audiences of impending disasters caused by human overindulgence.

The Sublime Galleria – A Plethora of Artists and Creative Ventures

India’s first Sky Gallery, Sublime Galleria is a dynamic meeting ground for upcoming artists, art connoisseurs and buyers. Founded in 2009, Sublime is a renowned platform for the promotion of diversity and innovation in art.

Bangalore, India, September 20, 2013 — The Sublime Galleria is a dynamic meeting ground for upcoming artists, art connoisseurs, and buyers. It is India’s first Sky Gallery, and was founded in 2009 by Ms. Uzma Irfan, Executive Director of Corporate Communications at the Prestige Group. Having hosted several successful exhibitions in the past, it is recognized as a launch-pad for upcoming artists who represent a cross section of styles, media, techniques and forms that define today’s artistic sensibilities. Sublime Galleria is on a mission to further the cause of the arts and also sees itself as a dynamic crucible for the next generation to develop and showcase their talent. It reaches out to upcoming artists and offers them a platform to showcase and make their body of work accessible to the art lovers of Bengaluru. Sublime also organises regular workshops for children in various creative and artistic fields like music, painting, drama, dance and more. These workshops are conducted by international experts and offer the kids an opportunity to develop their skills and augment their knowledge in their chosen area of creative expression.

One such workshop is ‘Berserk’, an art conference for children between the age of 8 and 12 years. Through a series of rigorous auditions in the chosen city schools, a set of 60 students were shortlisted to take part in the 3-day residential conclave aimed at promoting and encouraging creativity and talent. At the grassroots level, this is a 3-day residential art conference with expert mentors from Jagriti, Lourd Vijay Dance Studio, Taaqademy and 3 Peel. Selected children of different verticals received endorsements ranging from intensive training programs to working on productions under expert guidance. The endorsements are custom-designed by each of the vertical heads. The event is conceptualised to be a stepping-stone for the children to nurture and pursue their creative talent.

Another event that stood out for its generosity and spirit was Melange, a group art exhibition where over 20 established and emerging artists came together in aid of the Indian Society for Performers and Teachers of Dance (ISPTD). The Society offers underprivileged children an opportunity to train in dance, thus taking them one step further towards realising their dreams. The artists who have contributed an artwork each to this worthy cause include Bheemaraya Devikeri, Mahesh Pattar, Ruchika Motwani, Shibu Arakkal, Triveni Vinod, Konda Srinivasa Rao, Vivek Rao, Dnyati Wagh, Neena Vaishampayan, Swati Pasari, Elena-Renee Pereira, Sonu Mulchandani, Milind Nayak, Sujata Sah Sejekan, S.A.Vimalanathan, Pragya Jain and Bhavana, among others.

Sublime strives to showcase works that reflect innovation. The Exhibition ‘Genesis’ by avid filmmaker and artist Simran K.S. Lamba, revealed the conceptualisation and assimilation of a new medium – ‘Coal Tar’. Sonu Mulchandani’s ‘The Voyage’ was a rare collection of maps and memorabilia that resonates the Gallery’s commitment to promoting creativity. One of the most recently concluded exhibitions ‘The Reflective’ by Elena Pereira was a spectacular amalgamation of a multitude of materials, ranging from flowers to metal.

Art Bengaluru, has grown over the last 4 years to become one of the biggest art festivals of South India. A joint initiative by Art Chutney and Sublime Galleria, Art Bengaluru brings together art of all forms every year. This year’s event was noted for the Galleries featured, ‘Berserk’, the Luxury Art Auction, and the artsy atmosphere it set across Bengaluru.

Without the support of the art community and the diversity Bengaluru enjoys, Sublime believes its efforts to promote art would not have materialised. Sublime will continue in its endeavour and would love for all of you to support its initiatives for the fine arts.

Sublime Galleria Brings to You Kaleidoscope – A Collection of Abstract Art by Aparna Ganesh

The exhibition at the Sublime Art Galleria in UB City will be held between 15th Feb & 15th March 2013.

Bangalore, India – February 16, 2013 — Sublime Galleria ( http://www.sublimegalleria.com ), India’s only sky art gallery and the creator of International events including ‘Art Bengaluru’, ‘Trousseau Week’ and ‘Film Harvest’ brings to you an exhibition of works by Aparna Ganesh, a practicing artist known for her creativity and vibrant presentations. In this collection she will present a series of art works inspired by day to day life and happenings in our surroundings.

Kaleidoscope as the name suggests is a fusion of vibrant colors carefully combined to represent various themes. No surprise that each painting tells a different story albeit in an abstract presentation as perceived by Aparna.

The exhibition at the Sublime Art Galleria in UB City will be held between 15th Feb & 15th March 2013.

Adds Uzma Irfan, Founder of the Sublime Galleria & Executive Director, Corporate Communications, Prestige Group, “We are very excited about our first presentation through Kaleidoscope in 2013. This is just the beginning of many more to come, in what is easily a vibrant year in the field of art. We hope Kaleidoscope will give art lovers an opportunity to see fine art through the eyes of a truly creative abstract artist.”

About Sublime Art Galleria:
Sublime Galleria, located at UB City, India’s first Sky Gallery, founded by Ms. Uzma Irfan – Director, Corporate Communications, Prestige Group in 2009, is known for its encouragement and support of the fine arts and the performing arts. It holds exhibitions showcasing the talents of not only famous artists but also of up-and-coming artists.

Strongly believing in the need to support young and upcoming artists, Uzma Irfan founded Sublime Galleria to help provide a platform for them to exhibit their work. Uzma believes that fine art is an integral part of our rich culture and we should strive to keep these art forms vibrant and accessible to society.

Sublime Galleria ( http://www.sublimegalleria.com ) has promoted the works of several artists across categories. Some examples of the mélange of work exhibited at Sublime in the past include ‘Genesis’ by Simran KS Lamba – a unique presentation of mixed media artwork in coal tar, and more recently, ‘Crossroads’ – a unique celebration of Fine Art by four leading artists – G Subramanian, Gurudas Shenoy, Jasu Rawal and Milind Nayak.

Sublime Galleria has earlier showcased the works of Aamina Shazi, Amit Sharma, Anoop H, Ashish Parma, C P B Prasad, Devanshi (Tina), Farah Ahmed, Kalabhakesari, Manoj Masand, Pallon Daruwala (Established artist), Pragya Jain, Priyanka Gupta Agarwal, Rupesh Patrick, Shukla Chowdhury, Simran KS Lamba, Soraya Taher Merchant, Srividya and Tala Afsin.

About the Artist:
Aparna Ganesh loves making abstracts. It does not bind her into a set pattern or thought process and it allows her to approach/ interpret life with her own point of view. She can at times take off without a road map, and discover art as she moves along, stroke after stroke, colors marring one another as new appealing forms surface.

Being self taught, she has absorbed the nuances of painting acrylic on canvas with journey fraught with trial and error since 2008. Her two daughters, aged 6 and 3 have instilled patience in her, a virtue she believes, without which art cannot be created. Her experience of creating television content and film making further helped her in visualizing and transporting thoughts on to the canvas. She also believes she has a dark side as well, as some paintings turn out to look interestingly obscure and some, super vivacious. She believes her art is normally a slice of life or simply a splash of colors flirting on canvas, mostly squares. In her words, “I am influenced with the most spectacular as well as the most mundane in our daily lives. It can be the Kanjeevaram Silks, the Sun, or a Zebra Crossing, it’s on my canvas….my way!”

The 3rd Edition of Art Bengaluru Signs Off on a High

The 3rd Edition of Art Bengaluru signed off over the weekend as a grand success, living up to its billing of being even bigger & better than its first two editions… A report!

Bangalore, India, Friday – August 31th, 2012 — South India’s only Contemporary Art Festival “Art Bengaluru 2012” drew to a close over the weekend, with a fabulous turn-out for the event finale – The International Art Auction, marking a grand success to the 3rd edition of the much talked about festival.

The Art do, took off to an amazing start with the preview event ‘By the Lombok Moonlight’ witnessing over 350 people line up at Sublime Galleria to get a sneak peek at the art inspired by jewellery exhibit. The event featured different forms of art on diverse mediums, created by Vijit Pillai.

This though, happened to only be the curtain raiser with the opening night seeing a packed house. Works of art from 17 eminent art galleries across India adorned the corridors of UB City while the piazza at India’s first luxury mall, crooned to a scintillating performance by renowned singer Tochi Raina. Over 4,000 people, who could not make it to the venue for the performance, enjoyed the live streaming of the event specially organized on Facebook.

Next, was time for the Children’s Art Competition that was organized over the weekend. Started out with the intention to imbibe the culture of art amongst kids and provide them with a platform to exhibit their talents, this year’s event saw an increased number of participants, when compared to the previous years. Like every competition, this one too saw the winners take home customized Art Bengaluru memorabilia.

The following week was interspersed with workshops & talks, all conducted by industry experts, presenting enthusiasts the opportunity to learn. Despite being scheduled during a working week, the workshops were well attended. The stand out was the talk by internationally acclaimed architect Chritopher Johnstone, who tended to several queries from eager participants. The Jewellery and Cake Art workshops left people asking for more, while the photography workshop was so packed, that it needed an additional day to accommodate the participants. The Dance Workshop too required changes from the original plan, with a shift in venue to make room for the many dancers.

What better way to end such a magna opus than with a luxury charity auction, featuring the works of legendary artists including M.F. Hussain, Jamini Roy, F.N Souza, Ganesh Pyne amongst other masters. The event saw the crème de la crème of Bangalore and several other art enthusiasts from all over the country, come in great attendance to stake their claim on these rare pieces of art that went under the hammer.

Amidst all the glitz, glamour and celebration, the organizers lived up to their word on Art Bengaluru being an event for the society, by sharing a portion of the auction proceeds with Christel House India, a non-profit organization that helps in the education and empowerment of underprivileged children.

Signing off, Uzma Irfan & Raj Bagaria, Conceptualizers, Art Bengaluru, said, “As curtains come down on Art Bengaluru 2012, it gives us immense pleasure in announcing that this year’s edition has achieved a hat-trick of sorts, going by the fabulous turn-out all the events and workshops have received. With this, we can confidently say that Art has finally arrived in Bangalore & is here to stay!”
