Output Factory Server for InDesign Now Allows Daisy Chain Processing

Zevrix Solutions announces Output Factory Server 2.1.23, a maintenance update to company’s output automation solution for Adobe InDesign. The app automates printing and exporting from InDesign by processing files from hot folders. Output Factory Server offers layer versioning, preflighting, email notifications, PDF security presets, variable names and more. The new version allows users to establish daily chain processing by using workflow’s errors folder as the hot folder of another workflow.

Toronto (ON), Canada — Zevrix Solutions today announces the release of Output Factory Server 2.1.21 a maintenance update to company’s output automation solution for Adobe InDesign. The software automates InDesign production workflow by processing files from watched hot folders. The software offloads printing and exporting from InDesign to a central system leaving operator workstations free from the output process.

The new version allows users to establish daily chain processing by using one workflow’s error output folder as the input hot folder of another workflow. This feature was specifically demanded by advanced users to allow for hands-free processing in complex production environments. For example, an InDesign file whose PDF output failed under a hi-res workflow now can be automatically channeled to be exported at a lower resolution. The update also improves handling of modified link updating errors, fixes Apple Events authorization issues on international systems and addresses an bug related to advanced preflighting email notifications.

“Output Factory Server is an extremely useful utility for a busy production facility or advertising agency”, writes David Creamer in Layers magazine. “The setup process is simple and users experience is very straightforward. It can save lots of time – which equates to money.”

Output Factory Server is intended to run on a dedicated Mac station where it can serve unlimited users via watched hot folders on a network. The app offers the following key features:

Output InDesign files automatically from hot folders
-Supports print, PDF, PostScript, TIFF, EPUB and other formats
Output to multiple formats from a single hot folder
-Automatic email notifications
Layer versioning
-Run custom scripts
-Variable output file names
-Automatic preflighting
-PDF security presets for different workflows

Pricing and Availability:
Output Factory Server can be purchased from Zevrix web site for US$699.95, as well as from authorized resellers. Trial is also available for download. The upgrade to version 2 is $350 for the licensed users of Output Factory Server 1.x and BatchOutput Server. Output Factory Server requires macOS 10.7-10.14 and Adobe InDesign CS5-CC 2019.

Big Sur Foragers Festival Dates Announced: January 16 – 19, 2020

Foragers Festival Fungus Face Off to be Held at Big Sur River Inn Saturday, January 18, 2020

Big Sur, CA, May 24, 2019 – The historic Big Sur River Inn serves as the host and backdrop of one of the Big Sur Foragers Festival‘s most popular events, the “Fungus Face-Off,” set for Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020.

Confirmed Partners

Wineries:

Bernardus Winery

Chappellet

Mesa Del Sol

Chefs:

Big Sur River Inn

Montrio Bistro

Rio Grill

Tarpy’s Roadhouse

The Face-Off at the River Inn, set under the oaks overlooking the Big Sur River, features celebrated local chefs competing for the best foraged dish, and will include food tastings, fine wines, craft beers, raffles, a silent auction and more.

This event sells out early, and tickets will be on sale through EventBrite starting July 2019.

The River Inn has a significant presence in Big Sur history and lore. The inn’s history goes back to 1888, when Jay Pheneger acquired a 160-acre parcel from the federal government and gave his name to the creek that bounds the River Inn on the south.

Homesteaders Barbara and Michael Pfeiffer bought the property, and in 1926, Michael, and Barbra’s son John took over the land on which the Big Sur River Inn now stands. The inn was opened in 1934 by his daughter Ellen Brown. She opened her living and dining rooms to the public and began serving hot apple pie, which is still served today and gave the place its first name, Apple Pie Inn. Lodging units were built and Big Sur’s first resort was established.

In 1943, Ellen’s sister, Esther Pfeiffer Ewoldson and her husband, Hans, took over the operation. Esther replaced her mother as Big Sur Postmaster and the Post Office was moved to the River Inn, situated where the front office of the motel is now.

With a lot of help, Hans built the General Store and lodging units 10 through 15. He rebuilt the dining room and “fixed it up fancy.”

The Pfeiffer and the Ewoldson families started a tradition at the Big Sur River Inn of fine food, excellent service, and warm hospitality. In 1988, the Perlmutter family, along with a small group of close friends, formed a partnership to carry on that tradition.

For the second year, the Big Sur River Inn extends its tradition of hospitality to host the Big Sur Foragers Festival.

The Foragers Festival has traditionally served as a fundraiser for the Big Sur Health Center. The community’s non-profit health center will receive the proceeds from the foraging events to continue to support the presence of local health care services in the Big Sur area.

The four-day festival affords Big Sur area restaurants the opportunity to host the culinary expertise of notable chefs, who will be preparing unique fare ranging from rustic to elegant, paired alongside the central coast region’s amazing selection of wine and beer.

In addition to the Fungus Face-Off, events will include:

A Thursday Night Fundraiser at Lugano’s Swiss Bistro. Details to come.

Friday night winemaker’s dinners as locations around Monterey County include Il Grillo in Carmel-by-the-Sea

Saturday Foraging walk led by local experts. “Wild Mushroom Walks and Talk”

Sunday we are finalizing several brunch fundraisers around Monterey County.

Stay tuned for more details coming soon. For event details and venue information, visit www.bigsurforagersfestival.org.

Café Fina Restaurant on Fisherman’s Wharf will celebrate its 30th anniversary this summer!

One of the Monterey Peninsulas most renowned and cherished restaurants turns 30 this summer.

Salinas, CA, May 22, 2019 – One of the Monterey Peninsulas most renowned and cherished restaurants turns 30 this summer. Café Fina on Fisherman’s Wharf will celebrate its 30th anniversary this June 28th. Family recipes passed down from grandmother to mother are still used at Café Fina to provide an authentic Italian seafood experience right here in Monterey. Owner Dominic Mercurio remembers playing and working on the wharf since he was just a child, “a bunch of us used to come down her every day in the summer time. We were 10 or 11 and would leave home in the morning and not go back until dark.” “My father Jean introduced my brother and I to the fishing industry and shared everything we knew. We are proud to continue his legacy.”

Some years later, Dominic opened his own Italian seafood restaurant in Monterey, naming it after his mother Josephina.

Inspired by the Victorian-era language of flowers, a posy is a small, round bouquet of flowers, herbs, and plants meant to convey a message, such as dahlias for gratitude, sunflowers for adoration, or thyme for bravery; she shares her favorites for every occasion.

Sabankaya’s trademarked creations, Bonny Doon Posies, have been a core part of her retail business from the beginning, and have been featured in such media as CBS Sunday Morning, Romantic Homes magazine, San Francisco Chronicle, Santa Cruz Sentinel and The New York Times.

Founded in 1999, Bonny Doon Garden Company is a full-service floral design studio, florist, and botanical gift shop located inside New Leaf Community market in west side Santa Cruz.

Sabankaya holds an influential position as one of the most innovative florists in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her floral designs are highly desirable due to their unique style of arranging and elegant garden appeal. Her wedding florals have been featured in numerous wedding blogs and magazines including Smitten, Sweet Violet Bride, Style Me Pretty and Green Wedding Shoes.

She has been featured in Amy Stewart’s “Flower Confidential” book as well as her blog, and was featured “like a florist from 100 years ago” in the PBS documentary “Botany of Desire,” based on Michael Pollen’s bestseller “Botany of Desire.”

She is a Certified Green Gardener; a member of Slowflowers.com, an online directory of florists who source their materials locally; and Greatgardenspeakers.com.

The Countryman Press has a long history as an independent publisher. Now owned by W. W. Norton and Company, Inc., Countryman and its books continue to grow both in scope and number.

BatchOutput for PowerPoint Reduces Security Hassles on macOS Mojave

Zevrix Solutions announces BatchOutput PPT 2.2.15 for Microsoft PowerPoint, a maintenance update to its output automation solution for PowerPoint on macOS. In addition to batch printing, the software lets users carry out automated professional feature-rich PDF production directly from PowerPoint. Users can reduce PDF file size, optimize images and encrypt PDF documents. The new version reduces the hassles associated with Apple Event sandboxing, a new security measure introduced in macOS Mojave.

Toronto (ON), Canada — Zevrix Solutions announces BatchOutput PPT 2.2.14, a compatibility update to its output automation solution for Microsoft PowerPoint on macOS. The only batch processing tool for PowerPoint on the Mac market, the software helps users eliminate repetitive tasks through automation of printing and professional PDF output.

The new version eliminates the hassles associated with Apple Event sandboxing, a new security measure introduced in macOS Mojave. Under the new policy, applications can no longer interact with each other without prior user authorization. This change directly affects BatchOutput PPT which requires access to PowerPoint and other system resources to perform complex workflow automation tasks. The new update streamlines the authorization process by clearing all permissions during launch time, which eliminates workflow interruptions during file processing. BatchOutput will also reset Apple Event permissions automatically if the authorization was previously revoked by accident.

In addition to batch printing, the software lets users carry out powerful professional PDF production directly from PowerPoint eliminating the need for time consuming post-processing. BatchOutput PPT brings advanced PDF and printing options right to the user’s fingertips:

Print and export to PDF multiple PowerPoint documents.
-Split PowerPoint files into single page PDFs.
-Reduce PDF file size and optimize documents for web, print and mobile devices.
-Variable output file names.
-Encrypt and password-protect PDF from unauthorized copying, printing, and viewing.
-Change PDF color tone, brightness and other properties.

BatchOutput PPT is a part of the Zevrix BatchOutput family which also includes output automation solutions for Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe InDesign and PDF workflows.

Pricing and Availability:
BatchOutput PPT can be purchased for US$19.95 from the Zevrix website as well as from authorized resellers. Trial is also available for download. BatchOutput PPT requires macOS 10.7 – 10.41 and Microsoft PowerPoint 2008, 201, 2016 or 2019.

Teen Author Victoria R. Maybury Pens Unique Young Adult Novel

Upcoming teen author Victoria R. Maybury was six years old when she found her passion for writing and storytelling.

San Antonio, TX, USA, May 10, 2019 — In the words of Tom Hiddleston, “You never know what’s around the corner. It could be everything. Or it could be nothing. You keep putting one foot in front of the other, and then one day you look back, and you’ve climbed a mountain.” Upcoming teen author Victoria R. Maybury was six years old when she found her passion for writing and storytelling. But it was her eleventh grade English teacher, Mrs. Caille, who showed her how to bring her stories to life, which ultimately led to Maybury becoming a published author.

Always an avid reader, Maybury, author of “Fire and Ice” grew up in Togo, West Africa where she learned about many cultures and ways of life that can be seen in her writing today. After she and her family moved to Canada, Maybury was inspired by a dream to compose her first book. “I felt that there were not many young adult books that I could get and read, so I decided to write one,” said Maybury. “Reading has brought me out of some dark spots in my life and brought me joy and love for life again, so I wanted to help other people enjoy life more with my book.”

“Fire and Ice” is a fantasy young adult novel that follows a young woman on a big adventure, filled with love, mystery, and suspense. An admirer of authors such as J.R.R. Tolkien, Marissa Meyer, and Suzanne Collins, Maybury took notes from her life experiences to make the book even more vivid. “One of the more mysterious characters was inspired by someone I encountered at a book store, and that sent me back to the drawing board. I made changes and improvements to my original manuscript, which has led to the book that I published.”

Maybury has also incorporated her experiences living in Africa into her work. “All of the chapter titles are based on the theme of love in different languages. I like to use other cultures when writing to create new worlds and fun characters,” says Maybury.

In addition to attending high school and participating in hobbies such as cooking, writing recipes, singing, and playing sports, Maybury also enjoys bringing her characters to life in her pastimes. “I like creating costumes by hand and making meals that would be what different cultures in my book’s world would eat and wear.”

Publisher Lisa M. Umina comments, “Victoria’s book is an electric and riveting read. I look forward to seeing more from this engaging young author. She has a unique perspective, and her book holds a strong appeal for young adult readers.”

For more information about Victoria R. Maybury, visit www.halopublishing.com. “Fire and Ice” is now available at Halo Publishing International, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Goodreads, and Books a Million in Paperback and as an e-Book.
