LAUNCH OF XCHANGE FOR PHONE SYSTEMS

Most manufacturers of phone systems claim to offer integration to computers and PCs as well as databases. This is known as C.T.I. or to give it its full title computer-telephony-integration. But there are claims that it is over-sold and under ready for the intended market.

Almost all phone systems have a telephony application programming interface – more commonly referred to as TAPI, but until now there was an inherent and costly requirement for integrator effort to create the necessary middleware code (or to edit and personalise). Enter Samsung OfficeServ-Xchange for phone systems from Abbey Telecom.

OfficeServ7000 series voice servers and phone systems boast CTI applications with a difference, but especially the new OfficeServ-7000-Xchange. This connects your telephone to your office computing network, making you more productive. When clients call your company, their incoming phone number (CLI) is displayed in a small, discreet, notification window on your screen. XCHANGE interacts with your companys CRM database- and looks up the identity of the caller in your records, then displays it. It allows you to be aware of who is ringing even before you contemplate lifting the handset.

It can look into your Microsoft Office contacts, Act!, Goldmine, SuperOffice, ODBC all concurrently. Better still it will connect to multiple packages simultaneously a different users access their preferred programs. But the jewel in the crown is that it can be set to interrogate Google. This is sufficient to display the name within said mini-pop but it also inserts micro icons, so if you click Googles it opens a browser page that shows their address and maps etc.

You can use the buttons on the notification-window to answer the call, or to bring up the callers record in your chosen package. This saves you valuable time during the conversation creating efficiencies, while building customer confidence. Besides popping inbound callers, it enables you to quickly and easily dial from your apps and search for people by names or locations often in an easier way than is offered by the formal programme. We think that the ability to highlight all published phone numbers on web pages allowing you to click-and-dial is really slick!

The makers put OfficeServXchange in their portfolio in November 2010 after their Beta trials had been performed. But Abbeys technical and sales teams wanted to satisfy themselves as to robustness by implementing it in-house on their own phone systems before presenting it to end-users.

Office-ServXchange was judged to be simple to install due to the wizard that teaches it to know which fields to show at the appropriate moment.

The staff have embraced this ground breaking development for phone systems and feel completely confident that they can demonstrate X-change to all types of businesses – from Architects to Zoos; Car Dealers to Schools. they recognise that a face-to-face demonstration has a higher percentage chance of convincing the client that the product will be a cost-effective benefit to their organisation. Thats why they had to be sure that they fully appreciated all the features and facilities provided.
