NextPlane Announces First Federated Voice/Video Cloud Service for Disparate Unified Communications Platforms

New voice and video service addition to NextPlane Federation Cloud Service expands seamless UC connectivity between different enterprise networks.

SUNNYVALE, Calif. (May 12, 2012) — NextPlane, Inc., the market leader in cloud-based federation services for unified communications (UC), has just launched a new service to federate video and voice across disparate enterprise UC networks. The first stage of the new voice/video Federation-as-a-Service (FaaS) solution will provide voice and video federation between Microsoft (Lync and OCS) and Google Apps.

CompareBroadband.com.au Poll Finds Broadband Connection Important to House Hunters

A new survey carried out by leading broadband comparison site Compare Broadband has found that house hunters consider a reliable, fast home broadband connection to be high on their list of priorities.

The site polled users and found that 78 percent of 300 respondents factor broadband access into the equation when they are looking into renting or buying a new property.

Sarah McDonald, Compare Broadband spokesperson, commented: “We regularly field calls from people who want advice on installing a home broadband connection and we often advise them on the best provider such as SpinTel broadband on the website. Sometimes people find that they have unknowingly moved from a place where they had access to fast a range of broadband plans to a place where they have no broadband choices at all.”

“We’re able to advise people on mobile broadband packages in these cases, but for someone self-employed working from home for example it can be a problem. They prefer solid, reliable connectivity.”

As the National Broadband Network (NBN) goes on connecting all the regions of Australia, the variance between types of internet connectivity available could well increase. Some places will receive speeds of up to 100Mbps and others will remain tied to mobile broadband or basic ADSL.

Specialist comparison websites like Compare Broadband are able to screen regions and addresses for quality of ADSL connection on a preliminary basis – though this is not guarantee of service.

1. An area’s name or reputation does not guarantee quality broadband connection.

CompTIA Testing Centers Moving Exclusively to Pearson VUE Testing Centers

Get Certified 4 Less, a provider of IT certification vouchers for students, IT professionals, and corporations alike, is announcing to its customers an upcoming change that will affect the testing exam center options for all CompTIA exams beginning July 9 th , 2012. Starting July 9, 2012, CompTIA exams will be held only with Pearson VUE and their worldwide network of over 5,000 testing centers. At that time CompTIA certification exams will no longer be held at Prometric testing centers.

Pearson VUE has been delivering the CompTIA exam since 2003 along with the Prometric Testing Centers. In order to simplify the overall testing experience, Pearson VUE will now be the exclusive deliver of CompTIA exams. This will provide all test takers with one point of contact for all of their CompTIA certifications.

“May 4 th will be the last day that customers will be able to buy CompTIA vouchers from Prometric, and July 8 th will be the last day to register or test for CompTIA certification at a Prometric Center,” said Danielle Spradlin, Marketing Director at Get Certified 4 Less. She continued, “Starting on July 9 th , all unused vouchers from Prometric that have not expired will have to be scheduled and used through Pearson VUE centers. Norcross, GA (USA), Friday – April 27th, 2012 — LAN Systems, a leading Atlanta IT Consulting company, hosted a Green IT Earth Day event at its offices last week. The event was in celebration of Earth Day and collected e-waste for recycling.

LAN Systems partnered with Premier Surplus of Cumming. The event was held from 11am to 2pm and included lunch of grilled hotdogs and brats. Everyone who brought something to recycle received a green, reusable, insulated grocery tote.

“We collected 3,131 pounds of e-waste,” said CEO Mary Hester. “That’s a ton and a half kept out of landfills and all proceeds will go to the Norcross Cluster School Partnership. It was a great time and so successful that we are doing another recycle event on July 2nd .”

Earth Day is an annual day on which events are held worldwide to increase awareness and appreciation of the Earth’s natural environment. Earth Day is now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network and is celebrated in more than 175 countries every year.
