Future Electronics Promotes Susumu’s PRG Thin Film Chip Resistors

Pointe Claire, Quebec (realtimepressrelease) February 12, 2016 – Future Electronics, a global leading distributor of electronic components, recently announced immediate availability of Susumu’s PRG thin film chip resistors series precision chip resistors with the highest power rating.

The PRG series from Susumu has a power rating almost 5 times as high as the RG series. The PRG series long side terminal products are offered in 3 sizes: 1206 size is rated at 1W, 2010 size is rated at 2W and 2512 size is rated at 3W. These power ratings are about 4 to 8 times higher than typical chip resistors with the same size.

Because the PRG series is an offspring of the RG series, the PRG series maintains all the thin film characteristics of the RG series, including precise absolute tolerance (±0.1% ), small temperature coefficient of resistance (25ppm/°C), low noise, and wide range of operating temperature (-55°C to +155°C). Likewise, reliability of the PRG series is just as good as the RG series. The maximum drift for most standard reliability tests such as short time overload, load life, temperature humidity bias, thermal shock, and high temperature exposure is specified as 0.05% to 0.1%.

For applications requiring extreme precision and reliability, such as precision industrial and medical instrumentation, test and measuring instrumentation, optical and telecommunication, automotive electronics, laboratory grade scales, power supplies, and power grid infrastructure, now Susumu offers a choice from three highly precise and highly reliable RG series family products: the original RG series for general purpose, the URG series where ultra reliability is required, and the PRG series for applications of extreme high power requirements. The RG, URG and PRG series are all RoHS compliant and 100% lead-free.

Future Electronics Promotes EPCOS PTC Thermistors from TDK

Pointe Claire, Quebec (realtimepressrelease) February 11, 2016 – Future Electronics, a global leading distributor of electronic components, recently announced immediate availability of EPCOS PTC thermistors from TDK, offering superior solutions for circuit protection.

PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) thermistors are able to offer more reliable protection than NTC thermistors in certain cases with particularly demanding temperature and power conditions. EPCOS PTC ICLs (Inrush Current Limiters) offer key benefits when used as ICL components for active inrush current limitation in certain applications.

The EPCOS SMD PTC Superior Series is ideal for over temperature sensing. The series is used to monitor potential overheating conditions and can be used as a current regulator, thereby offering a thermal shutdown as the applied current load decreases at high temperature.

Possible applications for these temperature limit sensors are power supplies such as AC/DC and DC/DC converters, battery chargers and packs or lamp ballasts. The SMD PTC thermistors can be used in the fan controllers of notebooks in order to avoid critical temperatures. In automotive electronics, they are suitable for applications such as the temperature monitoring of LED-based lighting systems.

Future Electronics Promotes the 600 V E Series MOSFETs from Vishay

Pointe Claire, Quebec (realtimepressrelease) February 9, 2016 – Future Electronics, a global leading distributor of electronic components, recently announced immediate availability of Vishay’s 600 V E Series MOSFETs in PowerPAK® 8 x 8.

Vishay’s 600 V E Series features Kelvin connections to reduce gate drive inductance. The construction of the PowerPAK 8 x 8 package allows one of the source pins to be arranged as a dedicated Kelvin source connection that separates the gate drive return path from the main current carrying source terminals. This prevents the L x di/dt voltage drop in the high current path from reducing the gate drive voltage that is applied to the E Series MOSFETs. This leads to faster switching and more noise immunity in power supply designs for the telecom, server, computing, lighting, and industrial markets.

Typical applications for Vishay’s 600 V E Series MOSFETs include power factor correction, flyback and two-switch forward converters for server and telecom power supplies, HID and fluorescent ballast lighting, consumer and computing power adapters, motor drives, solar PV inverters, induction heating, and welding equipment.
