Fusion Art is pleased to announce the opening of “Dancing on Air” by Fusion Artist, Alicia Savio. Alicia’s featured show runs through March 31st with an opening reception on March 1st from 6-9 p.m.

Palm Springs, CA, USA — Fusion Art (http://www.fusionartps.com) is pleased to announce the opening of “Dancing on Air” by Fusion Artist, Alicia Savio. Alicia’s featured show runs through March 31st with an opening reception on March 1st from 6-9 p.m.

Alicia is a Los Angeles based Contemporary Latin American artist born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She won her first award for drawing at the young age of seven by entering a contest for the Continental Drawing School via correspondence. She then went on to participate in the Buenos Aires Botanical Gardens Plein Air competition, at the age of 14, and forgot her brushes! In a panic, she improvised and painted with her fingers, taking the First Place Award. Throughout her lifelong career in the arts, Alicia’s work has been exhibited in Argentina, Canada and the United States.

Alicia’s work primarily focuses on depicting forms in movement through vibrant colors. A professional dancer herself, her dance career took her to the stages of the most renowned theatres of Argentina: El Nacional, Maipo, Astros, San Martin, and Cervantes. She toured throughout Latin America with the cast of “Tango Argentino” before traveling to the California where she fell in love with the scenery and warm climate.

Alicia’s work has been exhibited in universities, museums, privately owned galleries and feature films. She also created the artwork for the Los Angeles Tango Festival held at Paramount Studios in Hollywood and the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Recreation’s poster for “Tango Magic!” at the Hollywood Bowl.

Most recently, Alicia’s artistic focus has been on creating bronze dance sculptures. The delicately designed sculptures exquisitely portray both her experience and knowledge of the beautiful female form in motion. Her featured exhibition at Fusion Art, “Dancing on Air” includes both her bronze dance sculptures and her newest series of dance paintings.

Located at 4116 E. Matthew Drive, in Palm Springs’ historic Backstreet Art District, Fusion Art is one of an assortment of artist-owned galleries and working studios that feature diverse collections of original, contemporary art and photography by locally, nationally & internationally recognized artists. Amilia K Spicer to Release New Album Wow and Flutter April 28, 2017

Americana songstress Amilia K Spicer will release her third album, Wow and Flutter on April 28, 2017.

Los Angeles, CA, February 22, 2017 – Americana songstress Amilia K Spicer will release her third album, Wow and Flutter on April 28, 2017. Spicer also exclusively premiered the music video for “Fill Me Up” from Wow and Flutter on February 14 via TheBluegrassSituation.com, in advance of the Folk Alliance festival. The video was filmed in the very woods she explored as a child in rural Pennsylvania and features scenes of Spicer re-discovering those woods while playing the song. The video is now available via Spicer’s YouTube channel. Spicer performed songs from the new release during her Official Showcase at the prestigious Folk Alliance festival, which takes place in Kansas City, MO on February 15 -18, 2017.

Wow and Flutter is Spicer’s most compelling work to date. The songs map her musical DNA in landscapes of languid farmlands, gritty alleys and red dirt noir. Her lyrics reflect the various places she calls home; Pennsylvania where she was raised, and Los Angeles and Austin where she currently splits her time. She visits her father’s hometown of Harlan Kentucky on the track “Harlan” as well.

The album kicks off with the twang and yearning of the first track “Fill Me Up,” a plea to the universe to fulfill her broken soul. The album’s journey continues with sensual and heartfelt songs like “Harlan,” and “This Town,” which recounts a scene known to many, when one finally realizes that no matter how far you travel, you never truly leave your hometown. Spicer confesses, “I know my home is in this town, like I know just how to breathe.”

Spicer has recruited an all-star line-up for Wow and Flutter. Keyboardists Rami Jaffee (Wallflowers, Foo Fighters) and Mike Finnegan (Bonnie Raitt, Taj Mahal) contribute, as does Woody Guthrie disciple and singer-songwriter Jimmy LaFave, alongside bassist Daryl Johnson (Stones/Dylan). Guitarists Tony Gilkyson (X, Lone Justice) and Gurf Morlix (Lucinda Williams) appear as special guests. Spicer, previously known for her piano work, picks up a multitude of instruments on Wow and Flutter, from guitar to banjo to lap steel. She also produced the record, alongside multi-instrumentalist Steve McCormick. Malcolm Burn, whom Spicer contacted because of his work with Daniel Lanois, handled mixing.

About Amilia K Spicer:

When Spicer answered music’s call, she was first discovered at a Los Angeles club. That led to a rare main stage Kerrville Folk Festival debut, three Kennedy Center performances, song placements in several high-profile TV productions (Party of Five, Dawson’s Creek), and more. Spicer’s first two releases, Like an Engine and Seamless were released to critical acclaim, with New Texas Magazine calling Spicer “A formidable talent.” Spicer’s music has also earned comparisons to that of Lucinda Williams, Emmylou Harris, and Lanois. During the writing process for Wow and Flutter, Spicer took time to work on several other projects. Among these, she has been lauded for her contributions to Cinnamon Girl: Women Artists Cover Neil Young and A Case for Case: A Peter Case Tribute with John Prine. She also appeared on the 2009 Safety Harbor Kids Holiday Collection, alongside Jackson Browne, Sheila E, and Paul Barrere. Spicer has enjoyed other collaborations as well, most notably appearing on albums by John Gorka and the final Rounder release from the late Bill Morrissey.

“Questionable Minds,” a New Book: Conversations with Writers about Writing

OTTAWA, Ontario CANADA, 2017-Feb-15 — /REAL TIME PRESS RELEASE/ — The mind of a writer is a mysterious place. In Questionable Minds: conversations with writers, social psychologist dr george pollard gives a guided tour of the creative mental landscape of writers. In this unique collection of conversations, dr pollard explores the making of a fictional story or a stand-up comedy routine.

If you’re curious how your favourite novel or stand-up comedy routine comes into being, Questionable Minds helps you find out. This new book helps answer many questions. Where do the ideas come from? How do authors develop their characters? What is the secret of writing a successful stand-up comedy routine?

In this eclectic view of the workings of the imagination; dr pollard has assembled a remarkable panel of writers, covering a wide of range of literature. The conversations, in this collection, are with writers of thrillers, satire and westerns, as well as stand-up comedy.

Alessandra Torre tells gripping tales she claims are erotica. Peter Mehlman, a pillar of Seinfeld, has an idiosyncratically ironic eye and smooth, easy writing style. Chris Allen trades in thrillers that may contain more than a hint of truth.

Bruce Holbert is the thriftiest of writers, building finely honed sentences. Victoria Patterson artfully skewers the upper class, of Orange County, California. Steve Berry creates intricate mysteries against a backdrop of notional history. J Scott Fuqua tells tales with words and illustrations that resurrect a bygone era.

Ann Lewis Hamilton writes serious stories in a shrewdly droll style. Gabe Abelson is the A-list writer of late-night television talk show monologues. Jay Bonansinga writes The Walking Dead novels.

What inspires these writers? How do they develop stories or comedy? Why must they write?

To a one, they agree writing is sweating blood that shows up as squiggles on a page or pixels on an e-reader. Writing fiction or stand-up comedy is not for the easily distracted, the indolent or faint of heart. Writers must be eager to chase their characters and stories down the rabbit hole.

Questionable Minds is notable because of the depth and clarity of the insights found in the conversations. The book exhibits a unique intimacy; there’s no sense of canned answers to a list of prepared questions. Instead these conversations move effortlessly, following lines of curiosity and interest, while drawing out a wealth of detail.

Every writer dr pollard talks with has a different story to tell. Each has his or her own sources of inspiration. Their routines are personal; sometimes fitting writing around the rest of their lives or, for a few, squeezing in time for family, if they can drag themselves away from writing.

It is notable how willingly, candid and freely the writers talk. They discuss in detail the motivations that drive them to write. For some it’s enthusiasm; others want to explore their own lives and, perhaps, reframe them in a different context; still others want to discover what happens to their characters, as the story unfolds and still others simply enjoy the act of writing. Questionable Minds is an inside view of some highly distinctive minds, which are absorbing places to explore.

Although dr pollard explores similar themes with each writer, the conversations never become repetitive. Each writer is too distinctive a personality; each brings something fresh to the conversations and our understanding of why writers write. If you wonder how writers do what they do, this book will show you that it’s much more complicated and enthralling than you may imagine; it will improve your reading experience, too.

Questionable Minds is available through Amazon, in paperback and eBook editions at https://www.amazon.com/Questionable-Minds-Conversations-george-pollard. Review copies, in MOBI format, are available from the author at drgeorgep@questionableminds.com. For more information on Questionable Minds, visit the web site http://questionableminds.com or e-mail, as you wish, perhaps to arrange an interview with dr pollard.

Pop-Soul Singer/Songwriter James Patrick Morgan to Release ‘Art+Work=Love’ EP on February 17

First single “Expected” released to critical acclaim in December 2016

Los Angeles, CA, February 7, 2017 – James Patrick Morgan, the Atlanta-based pop-rock and soul singer/songwriter, is set to release his brand new EP ‘Art + Work = Love’ via Cloverland Entertainment/InGrooves. ‘Art + Work = Love’ will be available on iTunes and all major digital outlets on February 17. Morgan describes this five-song collection as one which “represents [him] better than most past recordings…” As an artist who plays up to 10 shows each week, he recognizes the importance that ‘Art + Work = Love’ captures much more of “what [he does] in a live setting,” than previous releases. The EP was recorded in several legendary studios across the United States such as Los Angeles’ East West Studios, where the Beach Boys recorded many of their hits, and the storied Blackbird Studio in Nashville, TN. Morgan says the goal of the EP, and of his artistry, is to “show people that it’s okay to be present and feel.” This is something he does with remarkable success on ‘Art + Work = Love,’ recalling classic artists such as Sam Cooke and Dave Matthews, but doing so in a fresh and exciting way.

There’s superb production here married with an intelligent approach that keeps the track lively from the first second to last. – Skope Magazine, on “Expected”

The first single from ‘Art + Work = Love’ – titled “Expected” – is also the first song on the EP. “Expected” is currently available to stream via SoundCloud. Morgan says that “songwriting comes easily” to him, and it’s evident that is true from the opening notes of “Expected.” The Sony Southern Talent Expo winner’s wide ranging influences from blues to soul to pop and soft rock are all given time on the track – from the acoustic verses to the catchy horn lines and soulful vocal harmonies on the chorus. The song features an infectious, danceable groove that carries the listener through the story of two people sharing “one night, two nights, three nights” and eventually falling in love.

About James Patrick Morgan:

Already a favorite in the Atlanta music scene, Pop-Soul singer songwriter James Patrick Morgan has spent years honing his sound while playing 300-plus shows a year, performing covers and originals as well. The Athens, GA native has just completed a collection of new music entitled: ‘Art + Work = Love.’ The EP illustrates his myriad of musical influences, and crackles with the energy he brings to his live shows. The new EP will give the rest of the world a chance to experience the soulful grooves and upbeat energy that are Morgan’s musical hallmark. Produced by studio ace David Huff, the EP is full of infectious grooves and pure soul, highlighting James’ love of R&B and funk.

With years of performing under his belt James has 1500 covers in his repertoire, and he includes an impressive take on Steve Miller’s “Fly Like An Eagle” on the new EP as well. He’s eager and ready to begin taking these songs to much bigger stages, and is thrilled at the chance to not only perform for bigger crowds, but also to make a positive impact on people with his music in the process.
