Maribor – Slovenia: European City of Culture 2012 Greet The Bogside Artists

Maribor, second biggest city in Slovenia and this year’s Cultural Capital is host to Derry’s acclaimed Bogside Artists.

Their mural, which will form the centrepiece of the coming cultural festival will be unveiled by His Holiness The Dalai Lama on 17th May 2012.

The artists are fresh from their recent USA trip where they were feted by the universities of Bonaventure and Boston College.

This is a rare and unique coming together of cultures of Ireland, Slovenia and Tibet, factors that the artists have incorporated into theirmural in progress. For the artists this is an incredibly significant honour and accolade. Said spokesman Tom Kelly. ” We have been fortunate throughout the years to have enjoyed recognition and respect abroad and we are indeed grateful to the city of Maribor and its organizing council for giving us a wonderful centre stage on which to share our creative journey. And that is why we have decided to make a direct visual link between the Annette McGavigan schoolgirl mural from The People’s Gallery in the Bogside, Derry, which has proved to be one of the most popular of our creations and this mural which will highlight to the best of our ability the horrendous plight of the oppressed people of Tibet. We look forward immensely to meeting with their leader the Dalai Lama whose mission of peace, mutual respect and understanding in the world which has been our own foundation and mission for so many years. We see this as also an honour for the people of Derry and especially for all those who have supported us and The People’s Gallery. Like us, they are more than familiar with the abuses of human rights.”

The Bogside Artists created all of the twelve murals of The People’s Gallery. These murals depict the key events of the troubles in N.Ireland and especially those events that impacted the people of Derry and the Bogside whose story the artists felt impelled to tell via the art of mural painting. These huge murals are visited by many thousands of people each year.

The artists began painting their mural for Maribor today 19th April. It will be unveiled by the Dalai Lama on 17th May.

New Review Site WasThatGood.com Delivers Independent Theatre Opinion

WasThatGood.com, a new site dedicated to bringing informed and independent theatre review and opinion to stage fans, has been launched in the UK.

The site has been introduced to address a demand for genuine, unbiased theatre reviews which are different from the now-standard sites which are full of intrusive advertising. WasThatGood.com will offer true, honest reviews of shows like Chicago and Billy Elliot from people who have actually been to see them and who are not promoting anything.

WasThatGood.com has been built by Robert Stuart, a big fan of theatre and shows, who was tired of trawling through websites which consisted of nothing but advertisements. The new site will offer impartial opinion, show times and the chance to buy London theatre tickets too.

Robert Stuart says, “There was clearly a gap in the market for a genuine, honest theatre review website – hence why I decided to introduce WasThatGood.com. There are far too many websites around which are advertising based and which actively promote shows – I wanted to have a place where all fans of theatre can share genuine reviews.”

In recent times the economic crisis has resulted in lots of people choosing not to go to see shows any longer for fear of wasting their money. WasThatGood.com intends to address this by giving people unbiased, genuine reviews via which they can make informed choices about which shows to go and see.

In addition to its review services WasThatGood.com will also host show time and date information and will let people search for the highest-rated shows by peer review. Users will also be able to buy tickets for shows all over the country through the site.

About WasThatGood.com

WasThatGood.com was born in an attempt to give the public a say in the world of theatre by offering an independent forum for them to share their opinions. The intent is to promote open discussion regarding the theatre, which could very well lead to improvement as theatres will have to face reality and will no longer be subject to only a handful of critics who have a channel to the public.

It’s not just for us, but for future generations. “We are stewards of the planet and not the owners to pillage it’s resources blindly,” Droste concluded.

Landing on the Land of Fire in Lanzarote .

Right after booking and staying at a Gatwick hotel with parking, head off to knowledge the natural landscape of Lanzarote. A five hour plane flight ensures an arrival is usually made in daylight hours in order that the stark landscape could be revealed from above. Lanzarote is just not only a destination for beach lovers but also naturalists. It’s a properly created tourist destination, so it has all the facilities to get a relaxing holiday.

In Timanafa National Park is located a volcanic landscape which was formed in the 1730s from a volcanic eruption. It makes up a quarter of the island so it really is tricky to miss. Within the national park are located the Monta?as del Fuego (Mountains of Fire) along with a visitor’s centre which has displays explaining how the park was formed as well as the animals and plants that happen to be present in this barren atmosphere.
You’ll find other volcanic functions that can be explored on the island. One of these is Cueva de Los Verdos that is a series of caves and tunnels formed by a river of lava. These caves are the venue for typical orchestral performances, throughout the year, because the acoustics present an astounding impact. Nearby can be located Jameos Del Agua which can be a lava tunnel that has collapsed thus opening it for the sky.
Forty species of birds, 3 species of reptile and six of mammals can be located on this barren land. The Massif de Famara is a reserve only 600 metres wide and fourteen kilometers extended but it is dwelling to some endangered species, namely vultures, Barbary falcons and ospreys.
There is a marine park towards the north of the island named Chinijo Archipelago which is home to 228 species of fish that are found around the many islets. Bird breeding colonies are also present, such as the white-faced storm petrel, the Cory’s shearwater, the tiny shearwater and two other species of petrel. Fish eagles, the Eleonora’s falcons, the Egyptian vulture or ‘guirre’ make their properties on the islands. You will find also fourteen species of terrestrial invertebrates which are endemic for the islets.
These islands may be visited by charter boat and snorkelling and diving tours are also arranged. The all round mild climate is conducive to underwater actions and also the undersea laval formations present an interesting environment for exploration. Fish species such as trumpet fish and grouper are usually spotted. An array of soft coral can also be abundant in this undersea world.
The natural globe of Lanzarote does not finish with underwater exploration but an array of whale species use the island, each as a property and element of migration routes around the world. The commonest are lengthy finned whales, pilot whales and Sei whales and also the smaller sized bottlenose dolphin. It can be feasible to book a charter boat and go out and search for these great marine mammals.
The Cactus Garden is rather an unusual sight on the island. It was designed by an artist known as Cesar Manrique in an old quarry that was as soon as applied to extract volcanic rock and ash. It is actually now household to 1400 clearly labelled species of cactus grown on terraces.
A panorama of Lanzarote’s natural wonderland may be viewed from a great vantage point, accessible by vehicle, known as Mirador Del Rio which rises out of the landscape to 479 metres.

Mom’s Prefer Experience Gifts Over Knick Knacks

‘Experience’ gifts like a hot air balloon ride are popular because the balloon provides a platform for a 360 degree view with once in a lifetime visual creating a vivid and lasting memory. If people really want to make special occasions ‘special’ they need to do something special like collecting experiences rather than knick-knacks to put on a shelf.

Plymouth, MI (April 18, 2012) — This Mother’s Day, many moms across Michigan will be taking a trip of a lifetime in a hot air balloon.

“Experience’ gifts like a hot air balloon ride are popular because the balloon provides a platform for a 360 degree view with once in a lifetime visual creating a vivid and lasting memory. If people really want to make special occasions ‘special’ they need to do something special like collecting experiences rather than knick-knacks to put on a shelf,” says Scott Lorenz, President and Chief Pilot of Westwind Balloon Company of Plymouth, Michigan. (http://www.westwindcos.com/balloon) (http://www.youtube.com/embed/pmMvCYJqbHA)

“It’s not just for mom either. Since two people go along with the pilot it’s a perfect experience gift that both mom and dad or other friends and family can enjoy together because each flight is for two people.”

Lorenz says nobody forgets their first balloon flight because it’s an experience that cannot compare to anything else. The sensation of flying over trees, lakes and streams, spotting deer and other wildlife is unique and inspiring. When a gift touches someone both emotionally and on a multi-sensory level they never forget it.

The balloon flight costs $695 for two people. Gift certificates for flights in the area over Kensington Park in Milford, Michigan can be purchased by calling 734-667-2098 or by visiting http://www.westwindcos.com/balloon/ or via email at: scottlorenz[at]westwindcos[dot]com. Casino Lunch Launches New Casino Games and Tournaments

OrientPlay Ltd launches new games and casino tournaments with €10,000 guaranteed every week!

Valetta, Malta, April 17, 2012 – OrientPlay Ltd., a licensed online gaming platform provider, has recently launched Casino Hold‘em, Hi-Lo 3 Cards, along with regular casino tournaments with large guaranteed prize pools on Casino Lunch. OrientPlay Ltd. is set for an imminent launch with Topjack Games’ instant games portfolio. In the meantime the company has just added several new games to their current casino portfolio, including Casino Hold‘em and Hi-Lo 3 Cards.

Anna Babola, Head of Operations at OrientPlay Ltd. commemorates the occasion with a few comments; “We have close-knit relationships with all of our various software and games suppliers. Every new game that we launch on our website serves to enrich our current portfolio for our players to enjoy. We run a tight ship, and I’m grateful to my team for sharing my enthusiasm to get the games out there on schedule.”

Alongside their constantly evolving casino portfolio, the premium online casino brand will be hosting weekly casino tournaments with €5,000 guaranteed in each contest. Matt Takeno, Head of Gaming at Casino Lunch had the following to say about these new developments; “We’re currently hosting two tournaments that include the two most popular games on our site: blackjack and slots. With full transparency with regards to each player’s current standing on our leader board, it’s proving to be a huge hit with our clients. Yes, there are other sites that host casino tournaments, but I believe their offer isn’t as fully realised as what we currently offer on Casino Lunch. Casino tournaments currently available on the internet will update the leader board in pre-defined time intervals, but ours is instant. You play a hand, and your results are there for everyone to see.”

Takeno then goes on to comment on the current prize pools. “We’re starting modestly at €5,000 a pop in prize money in each of our weekly casino tournaments. However, in the very near future, we’ll be adding tournaments for our roulette players and our card games enthusiasts. We’re always listening very closely to what our clients expect from us, and as always, we’re more than happy to oblige. In the coming months, we’ll be quadrupling the combined prize values of our tournaments, and we’re sure that our customers will be elated when they see our tournament portfolio expand to include even niche games. We’ve grouped our casino tournaments under the umbrella term ‘Casino Challenges’ and we invite all tournament players to challenge other players on our site.”

Both the casino and poker operations are fully licensed by the Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LGA) in Malta, a recognized and respected online gaming licensing regulatory body. Casino Lunch provides online casino gaming to players from all countries except the U.S.

Pam Brekas is the Featured Artist for Light Space & Time Art Gallery

Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is pleased to announce that Pam Brekas is this month’s featured artist.

Jupiter, Florida – April 17, 2012 — Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is pleased to announce that Pam Brekas is this month’s featured artist. Pam is a northern Nevada based abstract painter and digital photographer who has participated in many of the gallery’s exhibitions, since the August 2010 “Abstractions” exhibition.

Besides being an award winning artist, Pam is also an art instructor in her home studio in Gardnerville, Nevada and St. Mary’s Art Center in Virginia City, NV, as well as an arts & crafts instructor on cruise ships.

Since 2001 Pam has received over 170 awards for her abstract painting and digital photography in juried local, state, regional, national and international shows, including an experimental art award in 2002 from the Livermore Art Association. Her work has hung in solo shows in art centers and museums on the west coast and in group shows throughout the county.

Pam states about her art, “Art is an adventure for me. It’s a creative playground to explore as I figure out what I’m going to do when I grow up-or maybe I will just play my way through life and forget growing up.”

She goes on further and says, “Painting, drawing, collage, photography and writing have always been a part of my life and I see no reason to stop any of them. The arts give the soul a voice and everyone has a voice-some just don’t realize it yet or fear the unknown. Since my art is unconventional, using linoleum brayers and kitchen spatulas as my tools, people look at it as play. I will therefore paint and play and not worry about the consequences.”

Finally, Pam states that, “God paints with me and through me, giving rise to images and combinations of colors and shapes that I alone with a brush would not be able to make. It is a moment of clarity and truth-my truth-that allows for the experience. Each moment in time is a NOW, and if I remain in the NOW, then I have no past or future to concern me. Paint in the NOW. Don’t judge, don’t criticize, don’t fret, just blissfully paint, and enjoy the NOW. Your truth will emerge as you create.” Pam Brekas’ wonderful art and portfolio can be viewed at http://www.pambrekas.com

THE GLAMMERS presents “Six Hours Later”, the new single from the indie rock trio. An experience that goes beyond music

THE SETTING: a pub in Edinburg, Scotland, where indie bands play their music. THE STARS: a Scottish guitarist and singer, a French drummer, and an Argentinean bassist – all in their twenties.

Hollywood, CA, April 16, 2012 – THE SETTING: a pub in Edinburg, Scotland, where indie bands play their music. THE STARS: a Scottish guitarist and singer, a French drummer, and an Argentinean bassist – all in their twenties. THE SCENE: three young musicians meet one night, become friends, and form a band that in 2007 rocked myspace.com with a couple of singles. The result of this equation is the power trio THE GLAMMERS (www.theglammers.com), now launching their new single, Six Hours Later.

“Six hours later” talks about the first encounter of the band. The song is the first track of the group’s first album – to be launched this year. It is an autobiographic song played in the purest indie rock style. Syd, She and Rex Glammer, the group members, wanted to tell the story of their very first encounter; each of them coming from different countries and backgrounds. To learn how it all started, let’s go back in time and discover a little bit more about each member of THE GLAMMERS.

SYD GLAMMER, the guitarist and lead singer, was born to Scottish parents (an unconventional couple – an inventor and an archeologist). Introverted but very creative, SYD spent his childhood listening to his father’s vinyl records – Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, The Doors, just too name a few. When his parents tragically were killed in a plane crash, Syd enrolled in an art school in Edinburg, his hometown. SYD is dedicated to his passion – the rock and roll from the 1960s and 70s. He also collects vintage sound equipment.

REX GLAMMER, the drummer, was born in Annecy, France, and is the son of a hippie couple who lived in an agricultural community in the Alps. As his grandparents participated in the historic May 1968 worker strikes in Paris, REX carries on his family political convictions. Among his favorite music artists are The Kinks, The Who, Leonard Cohen, and Patti Smith. He also loves Banksy’s graffiti and always tries to explore the cities he visits, photographing graffiti for his collection.

SHE GLAMMER, the bassist, is an Argentinean girl from Buenos Aires. She might as well be considered a world citizen since she spent her childhood travelling with her parents who are diplomats. Fascinated by drawings, tattoos and fashion, SHE listens to Blondie, Madonna (of course!), Velvet Underground, Sex Pistols, and David Bowie. When she was 17, she packed her bags put her contrabass in her backpack and travelled the world playing in different bands.

The trio met and found that they were passionate for music and had undeniable talent when it comes to music and art. SYD enrolled in Edinburg Art School after spending his childhood being homeschooled. REX was sent to the art school when his parents noticed his incredible talent. And SHE… well, she arrived in Edinburg carrying her backpack and her double bass after roaming about Europe. To make a living during her travels, She started working in that pub where SYD and REX frequented, and where indie bands played every night. It took just one encounter to unite the three to form a band.

The first two songs from THE GLAMMERS to debut in myspace were, “Messensheriff” and “Don’t Lose It” (listen at www.theglammers.com). The hit songs had more than 1.5 million views (music and videos). After these releases, THE GLAMMERS took some time to revamp their vow to create cool indie rock music.

The global launch of “Six hours later”, planned for April 10th, brings back the band’s indie roots, the rough lyrics, and the stylish universe of a band that transcends reality in search of an experience that goes beyond music. The single will be sold on iTunes and Amazon.com, in addition to other online stores (learn more at the band’s official website: www.theglammers.com).
