Bryant & Stratton College Online Hosts Career Webinar: How to Negotiate a Better Job Offer

Webinar will teach attendees strategies to make a job offer go from good to great

Buffalo, NY, April 12, 2012 – Bryant & Stratton College Online announced today a new session in its ongoing free career training webinar series. Titled “How to Negotiate a Job Offer,” the free webinar is available to job seekers, prospective students and current Bryant & Stratton College Online students. This session will take place on Wednesday, April 25, from noon to 1:00 p.m. EST.

Acclaimed career coach Kim Dority will lead the webinar. Ms. Dority is a frequent presenter for Bryant & Stratton College Online and has been writing about and teaching courses on career training for more than a decade.

“A lot of people, especially women, view a job offer as a one-way street. Knowing what is negotiable and how to ask for it is almost as important as preparing an effective resume or practicing for an interview,” said Dority. “The ability to negotiate is a critical life skill for any job seeker. Knowing how to negotiate empowers you to turn a good job offer into a great job offer.”

The “How to Negotiate a Job Offer” webinar will highlight practical tips in negotiating salary, benefits, vacation days, professional titles and more. Attendees of the webinar will learn how to:

* Prepare for negotiation, from researching existing salaries to creating a “non-negotiables” self-checklist

* Identify what elements in a job offer are negotiable and what are not

* “Talk the talk,” by understanding what to say to help get what they want and what words might cost them a job

“At Bryant & Stratton College Online we are committed to helping our current and prospective students become trained, savvy job seekers; that includes knowing how to negotiate a job offer. Ms. Dority is an accomplished career coach with great knowledge to offer and we are excited to host this webinar at no cost to attendees,” said Scott Traylor, Associate Campus Director for Online Education at Bryant & Stratton College.

The webinar is offered for free by Bryant & Stratton College Online and is open to current students, prospective students and others seeking information to improve their negotiation skills. HealthEdSolutions.com Offers Career and Certification Resources to Medical ICU Professionals

Leading Provider of Online Healthcare Certification Highlights Industry Trends and Training Options for ICU, Hospital and Critical Care Professionals

Lincoln, NE, April 03, 2012 – To address increasing industry demand for critical care professionals, Health Education Solutions, a leading provider of advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) and pediatric advanced life support (PALS) online certifications, today released a Medical Intensive Care Unit (Medical ICU) special section. This collection of informational articles is designed to help the growing ranks of professionals who provide care in ICU, medical, hospital and critical care settings prepare for certification success and career advancement.

“For professionals who work in intensive care settings, proper training in life support procedures is vital to providing daily patient care,” said Melissa Marks, president of Health Education Solutions. “In addition to providing essential certification courses in convenient online formats, Health Education Solutions offers resources and tools to help intensive care and critical care professionals stay informed and educated about industry trends and best practices.”

Between 1991 and 2004, the number of critical care patients over the age of 85 increased from 4.1 percent to 6.9 percent, according to the Society of Critical Care Medicine. However, the Society indicates that this increasing demand also creates a shortfall in the number of professionals specializing in critical care. These circumstances highlight the growing need for training and certification programs targeted to the ICU, medical, hospital and critical care communities.

The Medical ICU special section provides professionals employed in ICU, medical, hospital and critical care settings with resources, information and data to help them learn more about critical care trends, technology and career opportunities. This series of articles is available in Health Education Solutions’ online research library at healthedsolutions.com. The research library additionally offers a variety of resources for healthcare professionals employed in other areas of the medical field.

Health Education Solutions offers online ACLS, PALS, stroke, basic life support (BLS), cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), automated external defibrillator (AED), bloodborne pathogens and first aid training for ICU, medical, hospital and critical care professionals, as well as individuals who simply want to be prepared for an emergency. Courses, which are self-paced, are a convenient solution for busy healthcare professionals with non-traditional schedules.

To help critical care professionals prepare for their ACLS and PALS certification exams, Health Education Solutions additionally offers ACLS and PALS practice tests and free practice quizzes. Full-length, timed 50-question practice tests are available for $35. A portion of this fee can be applied to the purchase price of the full certification course. Five-question sample quizzes are available for free. The practice tests and quizzes immediately provide users with a recap of questions that were incorrectly answered to help test-takers identify the areas that may need more study time and attention prior to the full certification exam.

For more information about online training options for ICU, medical, hospital and critical care professionals, please visit healthedsolutions.com.

Additional volunteer support has been provided by Phoenix Philanthropists, with sponsorship support provided by local businesses and community leaders.

PYFF’s CEO and acclaimed author, Sharon Lechter, is on a mission to promote financial education. “The entire ThriveTime Challenge has far exceeded my hopes and dreams.  We set out to create community collaboration between the corporate, personal and private sectors to address a pressing need for financial literacy education for children. SalutetoSpouses.com Launches New Resource to Help Military Spouses Navigate Homecoming Transition

Salute to Homecoming offers personal stories, articles from experts and tips for reintegrating a service member into the family routine; kicks off yearlong series of free live events with webinar on March 27

Buffalo, NY, March 20, 2012 – SalutetoSpouses.com today announced the launch of “Salute to Homecoming,” a new web resource for military spouses featuring articles from experts, first-hand stories, tips and more to support spouses as they welcome home a deployed service member. Additionally, Salute to Homecoming will host a series of free podcasts and webinars throughout the year that will explore specific issues military spouses face as service member reintegrate into “normal” life after deployment. A webinar, titled “Is it Supposed to Be Like This?: Military Spouses Share Homecoming Highs and Lows,” will kickoff the free series on March 27 at 12:00 p.m. EDT.

Five contributors from SalutetoSpouses.com, who are also military spouses, will host the webinar. The panelists are:

* Samantha Carroll – An army Spouse and SalutetoSpouses.com contributor, Samantha has been married to CW2 Michael Carroll for five years. As an apache pilot he is TDY often and has deployed to Afghanistan once. Samantha and her 3-year-old daughter are preparing for Michael to deploy again to Afghanistan. The family is currently stationed in Hunter Army Air Field in Georgia.

* Jan Wesner Childs – An army Spouse and SalutetoSpouses.com contributor, Jan has been married to Mark Wesner for 21 years. Jan has spent much of her career as a journalist covering the military and deploying with U.S. troops so she understands the difficulties of deployment from both the homefront and the battlefield. The family has endured multiple short deployments as well as two that were a year long. The couple has two children and is currently stationed in Germany.

* Stephanie Loaiza – A navy spouse, Stephanie has been married to Petty Officer First Class Andrew Loaiza for eight years. He has spent 18 months on various ships and submarines deployed in oceans around the world. Stephanie rarely knows where he is actually located or when she will be able to call or even email him again.

* Allison Perkins – An army spouse and SalutetoSpouses.com editor, Allison has been married to Sgt. First Class John Marlow for 11 years. John has spent a total of 48 months deployed to the Mideast since 2003. Allison has spent time as a journalist embedded with troops deployed to both the Pacific and Iraq. The couple temporarily moved their family to Kuwait in 2005 so that Allison could travel into Iraq and work from the frontlines. Now, John, Allison and their five children, ages 9, 8, 4, 1 and 5 months, are stationed in Hawaii.

* Sarah Young – An army spouse, Sarah has been married to Maj. Bill Young for ten years. In that time, the couple has pcs’d six times, moving between Georgia, Arizona, North Carolina, Louisiana and Maryland. They recently relocated to Kansas. Sarah has served as an FRG leader and key spouse at nearly every command. Now the couple and their three children, ages 9, 7 and 5, are preparing for Bill’s fifth tour to the Mideast.

“When your spouse comes home after a deployment it’s exciting to have your whole family together again, but finding a new rhythm as a unit can be challenging when you’ve gotten used to running the household and making decisions on your own. Salute to Homecoming will bring together insights from experts and the real experiences of military spouses to provide practical information,” said Ms. Perkins, Editor of SalutetoSpouses.com. “The webinar will be a terrific way to start the conversation; there is something really special about getting a group of military spouses together to talk about the topics important to us.”

The military spouse support webinar will feature both a moderated discussion from panelists discussing everything from challenges they faced, rituals or traditions they’ve developed over multiple deployments and other life lessons learned while being married to the military. Attendees will also have the chance to share their own stories and pose questions to the panelists.

The webinar is offered for free by SalutetoSpouses.com. Military spouses interested in attending are invited to register at http://www.salutetospouses.com/webinars.

Salute to Homecoming is part of SalutetoSpouses.com, an online resource edited by military spouses for military spouses that features personal stories, advice, tool and tips. All Salute to Spouses Scholarship recipients must meet Bryant & Stratton College scholarship guidelines to receive the full award.

“The deployment and post-deployment return of a service member can be stressful on military families. Members of the military are away from their family and can feel disconnected, while spouses are left running the show by themselves, balancing raising children, maintaining a career and sometimes pursuing a degree,” said MAJ (Ret.) Ed Dennis, Military Relations Manager at Bryant & Stratton College Online and an Iraq war veteran. “At Bryant & Stratton College Online we are proud to support our military students and their families during all stages of service, by providing resources like Salute to Spouses and Salute to Homecoming.”

As a member of the Service Members Opportunities College (SOC) consortium*, Bryant & Stratton College Online adheres to the SOC principles for service members and their families. They are also an approved institution for the training of U.S. veterans and their family in accordance with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Learning House Announces Free Webinar to Help Colleges Develop Successful Online Summer Sessions

Instructional webinar will feature panelists from a variety of educational institutions and offer strategies and best practices to launch summer courses online

Louisville, KY, March 20, 2012 – The Learning House, Inc. (www.learninghouse.com), an online education solutions partner that helps colleges and universities develop and grow high-quality online degree programs and courses, today announced it is offering a free instructional webinar to help institutions learn best practices in building and launching online summer courses. The webinar, “Building a Successful Online Summer Session,” will be held Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at noon EDT.

“Online summer courses not only allow students the flexibility to earn credits while still enjoying their summer, but the reduced costs and prospect of accelerated graduation can make these courses incredibly attractive, especially if they are difficult to get into during the school year,” said Dave Clinefelter, Chief Academic Officer at The Learning House, Inc. “By offering a summer session online, institutions not only keep students engaged, improving student retention rates, but students can take required courses they need for their degree or electives they are interested in without having to go to elsewhere and transfer credits.”

The webinar will feature panelists Sean Butcher, Director of Online Programs at Shorter University; Peter Gochis, Associate Academic Dean at Missouri Valley College; and Denise Peters, Director of eLearning at Highland Community College, who will share their experiences developing online summer sessions, as well as best practices and lessons learned. The presentation will discuss the benefits of making summer courses available online and offer strategic insights into what colleges and universities need to do to launch programs, from course selection and curriculum development to marketing.

During the webinar, participants will:

* Learn how to create a timeline and set due dates to get online summer sessions off the ground on schedule

* Discover how to choose the right courses to offer online

* Discuss ways to establish policies on who can take online courses, what incentives to offer faculty, etc.

* Identify what resources are needed to best support faculty and students

* Explore marketing best practices to promote online summer sessions and drive enrollments

The webinar is designed to provide actionable information for academic affairs and continuing education professionals, provosts, chancellors, deans and others who are interested in building successful online summer courses.
