Overhauling Your Home Lighting – Your Baltimore Electrician Can Do It

There are many changes you can make to your home to completely change the atmosphere in each and every room. By making subtle changes to paint color and furniture orientation, you can drastically change the flow and feel of any room. If you consult with an electrician in Baltimore MD such as Kite and Key Electric, however, they will point to your lighting. Although making changes to your interior lighting may be one of the last things that you think to do, it can actually make one of the most dramatic changes possible. Lighting has one of the strongest effects on our mood, making it one of the most effective modifications that you can make.

Interior Lighting

Start by analyzing the interior of your home from room to room. Give each room its own section on a piece of paper and make notes of the atmosphere that you would like in each area. Your bedroom, for example, should be warm, inviting and cozy to promote sleeping. Living areas should have versatile lighting to accommodate many different situations.

After you have written down the mood you are looking for in each room, think about the type of lighting that reflects that mood. If you are having a tough time, ask your professional Baltimore electrician, Kite and Key Electric, for recommendations. You can also visit a local store to browse through their options to get ideas. For many rooms, you can accomplish the lighting effects that you desire by replacing fixtures, having ceiling fans installed and adding recessed lighting. Other rooms may call for using lamps in addition to your fixtures.
Landscape Lighting

When you are changing your lighting, don’t leave out the exterior of your home. Landscape lighting has many purposes. It highlights some of the more appealing portions of your landscaping, helps you navigate your yard in the evening and even improves safety by increasing visibility. Much in the way that you want to create a certain feeling inside of your house, you should have a goal in mind when choosing landscape lighting. Rather than trying to do it all yourself, you should consider speaking to Kite and Key Electric, an electrician Baltimore MD trusts, before you start your project. While some of the do-it-yourself kits may be appealing, professionally installed landscape lighting by an electrician in Baltimore looks much better, and it also lasts longer and can be safer than other solutions.

Choosing the Right Bulb

Believe it or not, the bulbs that you use in your lamps and fixtures can be just as important as the fixtures yourself. As lighting technologies have advanced, the varieties of bulbs available have increased greatly. Where in the past, you chose your bulb largely on wattage alone, you now have more options. For starters, you must choose between LED bulbs, incandescent bulbs and compact fluorescent. Each has its pros and cons, so choose the option that works best for you. If you have any questions regarding the different bulb technologies, don’t hesitate to ask Kite and Key Electric, a licensed Baltimore electrician. In addition to the type of light, you can now choose between lighting types. Many lights now come in “warm”, “daylight” and more direct lighting formats. These bulbs have all been specially designed to match a certain atmosphere. A warm light, for example, is more suited to a room like your bedroom, where you don’t need very bright light. A daylight-simulating bulb may work better in a living room or office area.

Regardless of the amount of lighting that you want to change, you will be amazed at the results. This fairly simple change can transform a room, making it feel like an entirely new place. Furthermore, updating your lighting fixtures can also help improve the value of your home. Make sure to call a professional electrician in Baltimore MD, Kite and Key Electric, to ensure that everything is installed safely.

New Flag display cases, and Flag frame from Flags connections

Flag cases have a long history of preserving flags of fallen and deceased veterans.

Deer Park, NY, March 19, 2012 – Flag cases have a long history of preserving flags of fallen and deceased veterans. At a veteran’s funeral, whether he or she was in the U.S. Navy, Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard, the American flag is presented to a family member of the deceased veteran.

This flag is part of a larger ceremony, usually at the cemetery, where an honor guard fires volleys into the air. There is no greater sacrifice than to die for one’s country. Therefore, the ceremony is solemn and full of honor for the fallen warrior.

The ceremony involves folding the flag into a triangle. To watch the honor guard do this is dramatic. They do it with such care and reverence, not only for the country it symbolizes, but for the memory of their brother or sister in arms. When they give the flag to you, you will know how powerful this symbol is. You will never forget that moment.

If you received a flag from an honor guard for your loved one, you need to protect it well. This is not your average flag: this is a symbol of the great sacrifices your loved one made for the United States. Many places sell flag cases, but Flag Connections is your best online source. They take pride in all of their products, including flag display cases, awards cases, medal display cases, sword display cases, historical flags and much more.

Besides the flag case itself, there are many accessories that will enhance the appearance of the flag case. For example, you can put the flag case on a pedestal. Another example of an accessory is a medallion, which can be made in the seal of the branch of the U.S. military in which your loved one served. Flag Connections has both of these items, plus much, much more.

The final thing you must consider, is where to place that symbol so rich in meaning and value. Some people put it on the mantle of the fireplace, while others place it on the wall. Wherever you choose to put the flag case, display it in a place where you can see it regularly, a place that will give it honor and a place where others can see it, too. Flag Connections has all necessary accessories to help you honor the flag case wherever you put it in your home.

Flag cases are a beautiful way to memorialize an honor guard flag, as well as a necessary way to protect the flag itself. This is no ordinary flag, so it must be both honored and protected. Flag Connections has everything you need to do this, plus awards cases, medal display cases, sword display cases, historical flags and much more. They take pride in their products, which are made in the USA. Contact them today for all of your flag case needs.

NanoMarkets Releases New White Paper on Smart Lighting Markets

NanoMarkets today announced that it has published a new white paper that examines the current smart lighting systems market.

Glen Allen, Virginia – March 20, 2012 — Industry analyst firm NanoMarkets today announced that it has published a new white paper that examines the current smart lighting systems market. In a recent NanoMarkets report titled, “Smart Lighting 2012” we have identified this space as potentially reaching $4.5 billion in revenues by 2016 driven by the quest to improve energy efficiency within buildings and homes and meet requirements brought about by government mandates.

However, NanoMarkets believes while the addressable market is substantial, there are no clear leaders in the smart lighting space and that furthermore, the product and market strategies currently being pursued by the industry are insufficient to capitalize on what is possible.

Persons interested in obtaining the paper may download it from the firm’s website at: http://www.nanomarkets.net/Downloads/SmartLighting.pdf

About the Report:

The NanoMarkets report, “Smart Lighting 2012” provides an analysis of the worldwide smart lighting market and builds on NanoMarkets’ extensive six-year experience of analyzing the solid-state lighting industry. The report shows how new value is being created in the lighting market by adding enhanced electronics and intelligent luminaires and how such product strategies will be able to build on the massive trend towards introducing CFLs, LEDs, OLEDs and other forms of energy efficient lighting.

But while energy efficiency is the major current driver for smart lighting, this report also discusses how NanoMarkets foresees the smart lighting market transcending energy efficiency and generating new revenues from improved aesthetics, and more comfortable and healthy lighting. The report focuses, in particular, on how also these opportunities will emerge within the OLED and LED lighting paradigms. But it also identifies the opportunities that smart lighting will create as it adopts more effective networking strategies and becomes part of a future “Internet of things” and Smart Grid.

Also included in this new report is an analysis of the smart lighting strategies of the firms that NanoMarkets expects to see as major players in the smart lighting space. This includes the major lighting and building automation firms, as well as the slew of new lighting control start-ups that have emerged in the past few years.

In addition, this report provides an insider’s view on rapidly developing opportunities throughout the entire smart lighting supply chain including developments in the luminaire sector all the way down to the components level. For example, the report includes detailed coverage of where chip makers and sensor manufacturers will be able to derive the most benefit from the smart lighting “revolution”.

Also included in the report is a discussion of the likely evolution of smart lighting standards and their importance to smart lighting market development. In addition, there is an eight-year market forecast with breakouts by type of product and end user market segment. See the NanoMarkets website at: (http://nanomarkets.net/market_reports/report/smart_lighting_2012) for additional details.

NanoMarkets Releases New Report on OLED Luminaire Market

NanoMarkets has announced the release of its latest report, “OLED Lighting Market Forecast Q2 2012.”

Glen Allen, Virginia – March 19, 2012 — Industry analyst firm NanoMarkets has announced the release of its latest report, “OLED Lighting Market Forecast Q2 2012.” In the report NanoMarkets presents its outlook on the OLED lighting sector with some notable changes since its last release in 2011. The firm notes concerns with the current economic situation in Europe which is a major center for OLED lighting as well as changes in manufacturing that will dampen prices in the short term but open the door to wider acceptance of the technology as OLED lighting efficiency, panel size and light output improvements bring the technology to the mainstream. NanoMarkets now expects that the total market for OLED lighting luminaires will reach approximately $6.3 billion in 2017.

Additional details about this and other OLED related reports are available at: http://www.nanomarkets.net

About the Report:

This report provides eight-year forecasts for OLED lighting in six different applications: purchases by lighting designers; luxury lighting; major installations in showrooms, tradeshows, etc.; residential lighting; commercial/industrial lighting; and automotive lighting. Forecasts are presented in both revenue terms ($ millions) and volume terms (units/square meters sold). In addition, the report contains qualitative forecasts of future opportunities for OLEDs in such areas as personal illumination products, signage, industrial lighting and novelty products.

The forecasts in this report are based on NanoMarkets’ insider understanding of OLED lighting demand patterns, but are backed up by matching projected demand against the plans of major OLED lighting panel suppliers to build manufacturing capacity. Among the firms discussed in this context are AUO, First-o-Lite, GE, Jusung Engineering, Kaneka, Konica Minolta, LG, Lumiotec, Moser Baer, NEC, Osram, Panasonic, Philips, Pioneer/Mitsubishi, Samsung and Visionox.

From the Report:

While NanoMarkets sees the overall prospects for the OLED lighting market as remaining strong, we now expect to see a major decline in OLED prices in the next two years as mass production technologies start to be applied to this kind of lighting. This pricing trend is expected to dampen OLED lighting revenues for the next three years until OLED lighting efficiency, panel size and light output have improved to the point where OLED lighting is acceptable in mainstream-and mass market – residential and business lighting markets.

In particular, NanoMarkets believes that OLED lighting has the potential to seriously compete with the standard fluorescent lighting panels widely used in offices through improved energy efficiency, lower costs and improved aesthetics. And by 2017 NanoMarkets expects that more than 75 percent of revenues for OLED luminaires will come from lighting for commercial and industrial buildings. In 2012, almost 90 percent of OLED sales for lighting applications will come from niche markets such as luxury lighting, large showroom installations and sales to lighting designers. But by 2017 that share will have fallen to under 1 percent.

NanoMarkets has lowered its penetration forecasts for OLED lighting compared to the forecasts it published in 2011 due to weaker than expected economic growth throughout the eight-year forecast period. NanoMarkets is particularly concerned about the impact of Europe’s ongoing monetary woes on the OLED lighting market. OLED lighting market is very Eurocentric with most of the important suppliers based in Europe and Europe’s importance to advanced lighting technology.

AuraPortal surpasses its competitors in all categories but one, “Vertical Specialization”, and in the two most important aspects: “Product Quality” and “Value for Money”, AuraPortal has obtained the highest score (9 points), situating itself clearly above the next best vendor on a scale of 1 to 10.

From a global perspective, AuraPortal is clearly the leader, with a score of 58.5 points in a competition where four of the nine candidates have scored less than 8 points, and the candidate following behind AuraPortal (Appian) has achieved only 35.5 points in total.

According to OVUM, “AuraPortal’s performance has been strong: its scores are consistently high for the User Sentiment dimension”.
