Mughal Garden, a Collection of Neo-Mughal Artworks by Vijit Pillai at Sublime Galleria

Revisit the splendor of a golden dynasty with artworks inspired by the Mughal Era, in Sublime Galleria’s latest exhibit.

Bangalore, India, January 27, 2014 — Kick starting 2014, Sublime Galleria opens with a peek into the past, showcasing the grandeur of the Mughal Era through the works of the celebrated new age artist Vijit Pillai. His latest exhibition is titled Mughal Garden.

Mughal Garden is a collection of artworks inspired by the characters and scenes from the classic miniatures. Created in 2013, this collection pays tribute to Mughal art styles through the use of colour, floral and stain-glass paintings. Here, Pillai adds a contemporary twist by using an extraordinary mixture of patterns and abstract visuals. This compilation adds to the artist’s characteristic trait and brings out the sheer drama of a time gone by.

The material used is acrylic paint on canvas with photographs. Pillai uses his own photographs which transforms through the use of filters, textures and patterns. Also evident is the sophisticated use of digital technique, depth and fabric creating a unique visual. These limited edition canvases come under the ‘Mixed Media Art’ genre. In this form of art, several materials and methods are combined to create a greater visual appeal and Pillai has proved to be a forerunner in it.

Exhibition Dates:
This Neo-Mughal exhibition titled ‘Mughal Garden’ is on from 18th January to 16th February 2014 at Sublime Galleria, on the 8th floor of UB City, on Vittal Mallya Road.

About the Artist:
Vijit Pillai took to the arts early in life, being encouraged by his artist mother. He trained under eminent art teacher Rathin Mitra and won his first few accolades while in school. Having been exposed to contemporary and modern art works from an early age, Pillai began to explore his own style with confidence while working in advertising. His added interest in photography led to the realm of New Media and Mixed Media Art.

Over the years, Vijit Pillai has been a part of several art auctions and exhibitions across the country and has been featured alongside legends such as MF Hussain and FN Souza. As a well recognized artist and pioneer in Mew Media and Digital Art, he has sold over 500 works internationally including countries like New Zealand, Germany, Italy, UK, Switzerland and Australia. His works are also currently featured at the 1D Terminal at the Delhi Airport and Radisson Blu Plaza in Hyderabad.

Almine The Countess of Shannon Named Featured Artist

Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is very pleased to announce that Almine The Countess of Shannon is the gallery’s newest featured artist. Almine and her art will now be promoted by the gallery for the next month in their Artist Showcase.

Jupiter, FL, USA (January 15, 2014) — Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is very pleased to announce that Almine The Countess of Shannon is the gallery’s newest featured artist. Almine and her art will now be promoted by the gallery for the next month in their Artist Showcase.

Almine The Countess of Shannon is a digital artist based in Oregon. Almine was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in 1993 and for many years her art has been commissioned by private collectors worldwide. It is only in recent years that she has expanded in public circles.

Almine states this about her art, “I have been called by some “The Dreaming Artist”, because my artwork is seen in dreams, before it’s executed into its final manifestation. I deliberately avoid gaining inspiration from other artists’ work in order to keep the purity of transcendent inspiration.”

Almine continues her thoughts, “The driving passion of my life has been to expand beyond the sensual experiences of existing limitations of human experience. My sincere desire is that my art will inspire viewers to live an extraordinary and boundless life. My depth of knowledge as a mystic and an alchemist is also the impetus for the desire to transcend existing paradigms through my visual art, and music.”

Finally, Almine completes her views about the creative process and the digital medium, “The desire to portray what lies beyond mortal boundaries permeates my artwork. To express the undefinable, and dance with the contradiction that exists beyond duality, is my passion. The digital medium I have chosen is able to express the inner light of shapes. It is my sincere desire that my art will inspire viewers to live an extraordinary and boundless life.” Almine’s art website can be found here http://www.paintingsoflight.com.

New Project and Interview [Excerpt] from Artist Fawn Rogers

Fawn Rogers releases first mention of new, multi-faceted art installation for exhibition in Los Angeles and New York.

Los Angeles, CA, December 17, 2013 – Having traveled extensively in over 50 countries, with professional art exhibitions on four continents, artist Fawn Rogers has a habit of embracing the full range of human experience.

Since her first public installation in Puna, India in 1993 (a three-story site-specific installation titled “Jewels, Gods, and Dust”), Rogers has covered the map – literally and artistically – in her attempts to reflect and inspire experience. Other notable international exhibitions have included “Kokoro” in Tokyo in 1995, and “Earth to Hand” in Marche, Italy in 1999.

Her most recent installation, a commission of works from the Visible Light series, is currently on view at Alan Friedman, 350 N Canon Drive in Beverly Hills.

She recently sat down for an interview on her work with light. The following is an excerpt:

Interviewer: “You’ve worked in a variety of media, and in a variety of settings. Do you feel like there’s a sort of through-line, or central theme to your work?”

Fawn Rogers: “Human connection to others and nature. Sensuality. The interplay of light and the abyss.”

IN: “How has that been a part of the current series?”

FR: “Technically speaking, the substance of the art is pure light. There is a dichotomy between that work and the Garden Light series, which has lots of motion and energy, and is curated from photographic images taken at midnight. In a non-technical sense, the work came from a very dark place for me, historically. I was inspired to create this work in response to the abyss.”

IN: “What do you have in the works for upcoming projects?”

FR: “I just completed a proposal for a possible public exhibition at LAX. And I’m working on a fine art video installation that I’m very excited about. It’s titled “I LOVE YOU AND THAT MAKES ME GOD.” The project comes from a metaphysical place – is it empowering or disempowering? In some capacity, it’s part of a dialogue with theories of love as exchange of power. And it’s about evolution – Art through human history and who we are right now and who I am right now; both our evolution and an awareness of that evolution.” www.fawnrogers.com
