Frances Marino is in Gallery’s Artist Showcase

Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is proud to announce that Frances Marino is the Gallery’s new featured artist.

Jupiter, FL, USA (March 15, 2014) — Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is proud to announce that Frances Marino is the Gallery’s new featured artist. Frances was originally born in Buffalo New York and in 1974 she moved to Boulder Colorado in order to live in the wide open spaces. 30 years later, in 2005, her life would take a turn into the art world.

In 2005, Frances began to think what she would like to do when she would retire in 10 years’ time. She realized that art was always something that she had enjoyed dabbling in, by going to art shows and art openings. With that realization, she decided to take a couple of drawing classes at the local Front Range Community College by starting out with a watercolor class. From that experience, Frances decided to take a pastel class at the Colorado Art Academy and with that, pastels quickly became her favorite medium.

In 2008 Frances decided that she wanted to expand into abstracts and she took a class with the artist Gwen Fox, thus, it was her first experience with acrylics which she tends to use more of these days.

Frances tells this story about her art, “Someone told me once that I will never be famous because my art is all over the place without a certain style and people will not be able to recognize my art. Being famous is not my goal. My goal is to create pieces of art that people would love to hang on their walls. So I continue to paint what moves me and I never know how the painting will turn out until I am finished with it. But then again, I can’t say if one of my paintings is ever finished or whether it is just abandoned for the moment.”

She continues her thoughts, “The world of art has been a great place to land for my next career with even I not knowing where my next painting will come from or how it will show up on the canvas. I find it’s all a mystery to me.” Frances’s website is http://www.frances-marino.artistwebsites.com.

A Master’s Stroke, Strokes of Life as seen by Five Different Artists

A collection of artworks of five distinguished artists broadly centered on their individual perceptions of life, at Sublime Galleria.

Bangalore, India, February 19th, 2014 — Single digit temperatures may not be much fun, but an art approach can bring much warmth to the life. Come February and the art aficionados of Bengaluru are going to be treated with an art exhibition that seeks to celebrate the numerous hues of life in all their complexities.

Presenting 5 well-established Artists under one roof this February! Gallery ArteQuest, a fledgling corporate venture in art from Mumbai and Sublime Galleria, the only destination for exclusive Art pieces in Bengaluru, will host ‘A Master’s Stroke‘, a collection of paintings of five distinguished artistes on a wide range of themes broadly centered on their individual perceptions of life and its vicissitudes at Sublime Gallery.

Aelay Laxman portrays the spiritual robustness of the Telangana villagers, his own people and their tenacious resistance against the relentless incursion of modernity in their brittle lives that they neither appreciate nor stand to benefit from. The statuesque figures of these men and women, contorted within their own setting, seems to convey Aelay’s acute dismay at the steady marginalization of the values and sentiments cherished by these simple folk.

Amit was born in Hooghly Chinsurah (West Bengal) in 1973. Even as a child his first love was art. It was the primary objective of his life. The scintillating, pristine, rustic beauty of rural Bengal inspired him to take the brush at a very tender age. Amit speaks of his style as “…a new semi-realistic technique of texturing with the realistic play of light and shade.” Amit carefully blends the two forms of ancient Indian art and individualizes his innovative style. In a nut shell, his paintings let the viewer re-examine the threshold between illusion and reality, between waking and dreaming.

Rachana has many solo shows to her credit and has participated in art camps in India and abroad. Her imagery is often treated with a strong ‘photo-realistic’ rendering; appear cheerful, uncomplicated and purely painted with adroit sense and contemplation. Having been reluctant to irony, despondency, ingenuity; her paintings evoke joy of the present moment that she lives in. Her works are the visual palette for speaking to the world about the unspeakable. The ability to communicate through the visual senses has been around since the beginning of human kind and will continue as long as our species exists.

Ramesh Gorjala’s dense drawings on canvas are full of colors, figures and stories, mainly from Indian mythology, such as Hanuman, Shiva and Vishnu. A modern take on the famed Kalamkari tradition, his signature style of blending texts with images lends his canvas an enchanting visual appeal.

T. Vaikuntam, born in Karimnagar District of Andhra Pradesh in 1942, he completed his Diploma in Painting from the College of Fine Arts and Architecture, Hyderabad in 1970. He received a fellowship from Andhra Pradesh Lalit Kala Academy to study painting and print making at the M.S. University at Baroda from 1971 to 1972. Vaikuntam is specifically known for his very vibrant paintings of seductive ideal ‘Telangana Woman’, ornately dressed and magnificently distorted with flow of lines. Vaikuntam employs textile prototypes and jewellery embellishments to give life to his two dimensional imageries.

Each of these five artistes has developed their unique language of expressions and thematic preferences. Nonetheless, between them, they bring out the protean faces of life on their canvas in ways that often appear exaggerated or grotesque but never lacking in empathy.

Marti White is Named Gallery’s New Featured Artist

Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is very pleased to announce that Arizona artist, Marti White is the gallery’s new featured artist.

Jupiter, FL, USA (February 15, 2014) — Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is very pleased to announce that Arizona artist, Marti White is the gallery’s new featured artist. Marti will now be in the gallery’s Artist Showcase section and be promoted by the gallery for the next 30 days.

Marti White lives, creates and works in Tucson, Arizona. Marti’s artistic interests have taken various forms over more than half a century, beginning with the creative play of a child, the usual art classes in school and college, and then a series of classes with various teachers in various media – pencil, ink, oil, watercolor, acrylic, mixed media and collage. To Marti, watercolor has brought her years of satisfying work as she paints mostly from the natural world – flowers, landscapes, and small wonders of the forest and field.

Marti describes her artistic growth and path since moving to Arizona, “When we moved to the West to retire, I felt that it called for a new artistic path to go along with a new life, in a new place. I found a wonderful teacher in mixed media and embarked on a discovery of painting from the heart. Learning to just let my colors and media take me wherever they pulled me was an exciting new adventure in expression. It seemed that these new paintings came from the center of my very being and were very spiritual in nature. By painting from my gut instead of my head, with no concern for what the paintings meant or whether they looked like something, I was able to free up some inner person that I had never known before.”

Recently, Marti has been exploring something that she likes to call “Apertures” – openings – windows into what is behind the surface of the painting. This series of paintings and collages has grown over several years and she has found it interesting to develop a multi-layered work that seems to contain mysteries to be discovered, pathways into the depth of the painting. It is Marti’s hope that her artwork tells a very personal story to the viewer. Marti’s website is http://www.artbymartiwhite.com.

New Video Installation Project in Development from Artist Fawn Rogers

ArtPress Records at L.A. Art Show, Interview with Artist Fawn Rogers: “I Love You And That Makes Me God”

Santa Monica, CA, January 29, 2014 – Having worked extensively in a variety of media and international settings, artist Fawn Rogers is exploring a new form with her provocative video installation currently in development: “I Love You And That Makes Me God.” At last week’s LA Art Show patron reception, she was kind enough to sit down over a glass of Bordeaux to share some words about her new project:

Adrien Miller: There’s been some hinting about your new project here in LA. Is that connected at all to your Visible Light body of work?

Fawn Rogers: Completely separate project. That series [Visible Light], to super-simplify, was very much about visual and physical expanse, having to do with nature and our place within it… The new project is concerned with the videnda of a psychological landscape. Again, my aesthetic is very minimal with the new project, but the focus is also about identity and evolution. The depth of content that’s been emerging from the theme is extraordinary.

AM: So what is the theme?

FR: The project is titled “I Love You And That Makes Me God.” That’s essentially the theme. I’m developing the project as a dual-monitor video installation, intentionally stark and designed to highlight the subtleties of delivery. Individuals are shot in portrait-style close up, and presented giving and receiving the expression “I Love You And That Makes Me God.” We’re in the process of filming people for the project now. The experiences for people in the project are very diverse – the exchange has been surprisingly intimate and I’m really embracing it. Each person, for example, has a very different relationship to the expression – from power, to concepts of God, to embodiment of love. It’s amazing how much story comes out from each person.

AM: Who’s being filmed for the project?

FR: There’s a very eclectic range.

AM: Anyone we’d recognize?

FR: Yes, we have some fun surprises. But the project isn’t really about celebrity, it’s about authenticity. There’s this incredible Iroquois expression – orenda – which refers to the spiritual force by which human empowerment takes place. That experience manifests in many interesting ways, no matter your status.

AM: I see paint on your fingernails. What else are you working on?

FR: This project has two other dimensions. I am creating some canvasses, and am also exploring some new styles of work in conjunction with this project. I find I’ve been inspired in strange ways by the intimacy of the video installation aspect – to create work in which the nature of the dialogue is completely different: more communal, public. In some sense, this project is like a multi-dimensional puzzle piece that has been following me since my childhood. That’s playing out both in content and form. Though a lot will be happening quickly in the current year, I feel that I could work with this theme for a decade and continue to be inspired by it.

Fawn Rogers is an American visual artist, best known for her work with visible electromagnetic light. Her work has been exhibited throughout Europe, Southeast and East Asia, and Africa, and has been published in People and Italian Vogue. She currently resides in Los Angeles.
