Since 1989, the Gwinnett Coalition for Health and Human Services has been serving Gwinnett County by providing collaborative community planning, applied research, community education, membership diversity, consensus building, advocacy, and innovation.
“The Coalition has been a successful public/private partnership for 25 years serving the needs of our diverse community,” said CEO Mary Hester. “It brings together leaders to address the specific needs of our community in ways that have the maximum impact. I am honored to serve.”
The Board of Directors of the Gwinnett Coalition for Health and Human Services consists of 56 members representing both public and private providers, educational institutions, business leaders, religious organizations, citizen groups, residents and youth.
Designated by the County Board of Commissioners as the entity responsible for planning services for children and families in Gwinnett County, the Coalition has implemented three 5-Year Strategic Plans that have addressed the short-term and long-term priorities for service systems throughout the County. The leadership the Coalition has shown to the community over the past ten years has helped to establish a broad system of services including an automated information and referral system for providers and its centralized Gwinnett Helpline; maintenance of six major councils and multiple committees to support the ongoing planning process made up of over 300 participants; and the Leadership Institute, a program to train grassroots leaders how to take an active role within their communities; and the Gwinnett Great Days of Service- the largest volunteer event in the Country.
