Commodities Back in Favor, With Cyclical Metals Most Popular – a Study Released by Norikura Global Research Division

Norikura Global published a survey concluding that investors will continue to invest in commodities in 2014, with cyclical commodities such as platinum, palladium, and industrial metals remaining favorites.

The results were compiled from a survey of 450 investment professionals conducted during the Norikura Global Annual Commodity Investment conferences. Polled attendees remarked that commodities remained a favored asset class in 2014 with nearly 20% of those polled ranking commodities as one of their top three picks.

Cyclical commodities, especially industrial metals were favored by investors. Platinum, copper and silver were the top three individual picks with platinum coming out well on top with 31% choosing it as their favorite, followed by copper at 26%. Silver followed suit with an average of 15% choosing it as a top performer in 2014. Gold also saw strong interest (with 13%) concluding the metal is still seen as a hedge against potential growth and financial risks in 2014.

The results confirm earlier predictions that if global economic growth remains on track, commodity performance will follow. Platinum and silver ETPs received the largest inflows in

2013 with USD $1.3bn and USD $841mn respectively as investors shifted away from gold towards commodities more positively correlated with the global industrial cycle.

Jiro Kimura, Head of Research and Investment Strategy at Norikura Global highlighted that:

“Most investors we surveyed indicated they are positive on the outlook for global growth in

2014. This likely explains their general bullishness towards broad commodities after three years of underperformance, with platinum and copper top picks. Gold also scored well, reflecting investors’ recognition that if the consensus growth story proves wrong, gold will likely perform.”

LinkOptimizer for Adobe InDesign Now Supports Automatic Image Resampling

Zevrix Solutions announces LinkOptimizer 4.9.19, a feature update to its popular workflow automation solution for Adobe InDesign. LinkOptimizer allows to reduce InDesign link size, speed up processing and reduce packaged files sent to printer by eliminating excess image data. The software also performs image adjustments, converts file formats and helps repurpose InDesign files for web and mobile devices. The new version supports the Automatic image resampling method in Photoshop CC and later.

Toronto (ON), Canada (July 29, 2014) — Zevrix Solutions today announces LinkOptimizer 4.9.17, a compatibility update to its popular workflow automation solution for Adobe InDesign. Awarded 4 out of 5 stars by Computer Arts magazine, LinkOptimizer automates complex image manipulation tasks allowing to significantly reduce the size of InDesign links, save processing time and reduce production costs.

The new version lets users choose the Automatic resampling method for image processing in Photoshop CC and later. With this selection Photoshop will always choose the best resampling method from all the available ones, which simplifies the processing dramatically and improves the resulting image quality after both downsampling and upsampling operations.

“LinkOptimizer makes me extremely happy”, says Nynke Tiekstra, the owner of design studio ColtsfootMedia in Friesland, Netherlands. “It converted 10,000 images in a 1800 pages project saving us at least 40 hours work, and it proved to be 100% accurate.”

LinkOptimizer works automatically with Photoshop to eliminate the excess image data of InDesign links, perform essential image adjustments and convert image formats. For example, with just a click of a button users can:

-scale and crop images to match their dimensions in InDesign,
-change their resolution to 300 dpi,
convert RGB images to CMY,
-resave JPEG images as TIFF,
-run a Photoshop Action on each image.

At the end of processing, LinkOptimizer reimports images to InDesign at 100% in their precise position. As a result, users can save gigabytes of disk space, reduce packaged files sent to printer, accelerate document output, reduce job turnaround and cut costs through faster processing.

Pricing and Availability:
LinkOptimizer can be purchased from Zevrix website for US$259.95 (Light version: $179.95) as well as from authorized resellers. Trial is also available for download. The update is free for LinkOptimizer 4.x users and $130 to upgrade from previous versions. LinkOptimizer is available for Mac OS X 10.6-10.9 and works with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop CS3-CC 2014.

Lady Justice and the Pharaoh’s Curse debuts at #1 on Amazon

Lady Justice and the Pharaoh’s Curse, volume #17 in Robert Thornhill’s award-winning Lady Justice mystery/comedy series

Independence, MO, July 28, 2014 – Lady Justice and the Pharaoh’s Curse, volume #17 in Robert Thornhill’s award-winning Lady Justice mystery/comedy series, made its debut on Amazon reaching the #1 rank in Amazon’s ‘Cozy Mystery’ and ‘Humor’ categories and #2 in Amazon’s ‘Top 100’ with over 48,000 readers downloading the Kindle edition.

This is the fourth time in the last twelve months that a Thornhill mystery has reached #1 in Amazon’s ‘Cozy Mystery’ and ‘Humor’ categories.

Previous winners include Lady Justice and the Vet in November, Lady Justice and the Assassin in January, and Lady Justice and the Organ Traders in May.

In an Amazon review, E. Whitaker writes: “A stolen artifact, a string of murders, and the claim of an ancient curse are all intricately woven into this new book by Robert Thornhill. Are all these events related or is it merely coincidence? This riveting and well-written mystery delves deep into the past while remaining grounded in the present.

“This tale of mayhem and murder explores the past and present and takes the baffled Kansas City Police down a road with many twists and turns. The clues are all there, but will they make sense? Can the mystery be solved in time?

Robert Thornhill has once again created a plot that will keep the reader guessing right up to the very end. His focus on events, interesting characters, and depiction of real-life situations is what makes the book come alive. The main plot is accompanied by subplots that come together to tell a fascinating story. This work of fiction is well-researched, compelling, and an all-around great read. Navigate through the twists and turns with Walt as he uncovers what could be the most perplexing mystery yet.”

To date, the Lady Justice series has garnered fourteen awards including the Pinnacle Book Award for ‘Best New Mystery Novel’ from the National Association of Book Entrepreneurs, “Honorable Mention’ from the Great Midwest Book Festival. And ‘Five Star Reviews’ from Reader’s Favorite.

John Collard Honored With Maryland’s Most Admired CEO Award

The Daily Record has named John M. Collard, Chairman & CEO, Strategic Management Partners, Inc. as one of Maryland’s 2014 Most Admied CEOs.

Annapolis, MD, July 28, 2014 The Maryland Daily Record (www.TheDailyRecord.com) created the Most Admired CEOs awards program to recognize talented business CEOs and nonprofit executive directors throughout Maryland for their leadership and professionalism. The winners are selected based on their leadership and vision; competitiveness and innovation; community leadership and service; financial performance and growth; corporate leadership and board service; and nonprofit involvement.

Applications must include letters of recommendation from current staff and at least one letter from a nonprofit or board on which the CEO serves. Winners are selected by a panel of business and legal professionals and a representative of The Daily Record.

“The Daily Record honors the Most Admired CEOs not only for their many accomplishments and outstanding leadership but also for having the insight to select carefully those with whom they surround themselves,” said Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, publisher of The Daily Record. “Their decision making, creativity, leadership and commitment to a better Maryland speak to their character and serve as an example to employees and to their communities.

XebiaLabs Releases Updates to XL Deploy, XL Release, to Continuously Deliver Value to Software Releases

To provide better insight into the Continuous Delivery process for DevOps managers and end users, XebiaLabs today announced new features and enhancements to its XL Deploy and XL Release products.

Boston, MA (USA), July 24, 2014 — To provide better insight into the Continuous Delivery process for DevOps managers and end users, XebiaLabs today announced new features and enhancements to its XL Deploy and XL Release products. Included are updates to its dashboards and reporting functions designed to improve feedback on the entire software build and release process. XebiaLabs provides software delivery automation solutions to agile teams looking to speed time-to-market with their software production cycles.

XL Deploy and XL Release respectively provide plug-and-play application release automation, and enterprise release pipeline orchestration for DevOps and Continuous Delivery. Both are components of XL Platform, which also comprises XL Test for Agile test management and analysis, and XL Scale for on-demand provisioning and scaling of full environments.

What’s New in XL Release

Configurable Value Stream Analysis:
XL Release dashboards have been expanded to include a new, configurable Value Stream Analysis that automatically highlights areas of your pipelines and release processes that are prime candidates for improvement.

“One stop shop” view of release and Continuous Delivery pipeline performance:
XL Release also adds a new dashboard that provides a “one stop shop” view of current release and pipeline performance, risk and efficiency.

Webhooks and more automation plugins:
Several additional automation plugins including ServiceNow and Splunk, have also been added to XL Release. XL Release also now features new smart webhook support to quickly automate any target system with an HTTP or REST API.

What’s New in XL Deploy

Easy configuration and integration with Cool Tech:
Already designed to make it easy to add support for new middleware tools, the XL Deploy plugin API has gained additional extensibility by including a new, fully backwards-compatible, rule DSL on top of the existing plugin API. This makes it even easier to configure XL Deploy for your existing environment and extend it to support the latest and greatest “cool tech”in a couple of lines of XML, without coding.

Customizable views & dashboards:
XL Deploy also includes a preview version of the new UI extension framework, which will allow users to seamlessly integrate their own views and dashboards into the user interface.

Tackle Configuration Drift:
To solve common configuration drift problems in several types of middleware environments, XL Deploy now provides an additional set of advanced reports.

The reports feature smart container matching and attribute filtering designed to highlight what is important, avoiding the time spent running through thousands of irrelevant default properties.

The new feature can compare target environments directly andalso tracks discrepancies between XL Deploy’s repository and the live environment. As an added bonus, the report interface introduces the first HTML5 UI components to XL Deploy, based on the new UI extension framework.

XL Deploy already supports comprehensive, extensible discovery for WebSphere and other middleware, as well as comparison and versioning of all configuration items in its repository making it now the most advanced solution for configuration drift on the market.

LED Recessed Ceiling 4 Inch Dimmable Can Lights Provide the Upside to Down Lighting

Torrance, CA, July 25, 2014 LEDtronics, Inc., with more than 30 years of leadership in innovative LED lighting solutions, announces the newest member to its series of high-brightness, energy-efficient retrofit LED Recessed Downlights. The RDL32-4-12W series are Energy Star and UL/cUL listed, dimmable ceiling can-style downlights ideal for indoor use in architectural/décor lighting and commercial applications: hospitals & medical facilities, hotels and resorts. They only use 12 Watts of energy and can replace halogen bulbs up to 75 watts — a tremendous energy savings of up to 80%.

The RDL32-4-12W series fits 4-inch ceiling can openings. They come with pigtail wires connected to a quick-disconnect connector attached to a standard E26 Edison male screw base connector that can be detached and hard-wired into a two-wire ceiling can fixture connection. A GU24 base connector option is available for qualified customers. RDL32-4-12W has a white color body and lip ring. It has a softly frosted, white-diffused, flat-precision, polycarbonate lens that directs light in a wide 90 degree floodlight illumination pattern, while providing high-brightness of 910 to 980 lumens, depending on LED light Color. The RDL32-4-12W series operates on a voltage input of 120VAC, offering long-lasting durability and easy drop-in installation in existing standard 26mm Edison screw-base ceiling cans.

These new state-of-the-art LED recessed dimmable downlights are available in three white LED color temperatures: Warm White 3000K to 3200K, Natural White 4000K to 4500K and Pure White 5000K to 5500K range, akin to halogen white (other color temperatures available for qualified applications). As well, it boasts outstanding color fidelity with a CRI greater than 80 that enhances color nuances. In addition, these recessed downlights maintain 70 percent or greater of LED lumens at 40,000 hours of 24/7 operation — a lifespan many times longer than the equivalent halogen or other incandescent bulbs!

Because LEDs have no filament, their solid-state design renders them impervious to shock, vibration, frequent switching and environmental extremes. These ROHS-compliant UL/cUL listed dimmable retrofit LED recessed downlights have no harmful mercury or other toxic elements like CFL bulbs; and unlike incandescent bulbs, LEDs do not emit large amounts of heat, and little to no ultraviolet or infrared light. This makes them perfect for use in museums, hospitals, offices or areas where heat and UV radiation might degrade the surroundings (such as illuminating valuable artwork, wine cellars or food service areas). The fact that they run remarkably cool also means they greatly reduce building air-conditioning load on energy.

These economical, high-quality 4-inch LED recessed dimmable downlights are perfect in non-wet outdoor or dimming indoor flood lighting applications such as ceiling-can downlight fixtures as security and emergency lights, general/architectural and landscape lighting, retail store, display case fixtures and cabinet lighting, sign spot lighting, OEM equipment lighting, bio-medical and medical applications, museums or theatrical-effects lighting. Since LED lights are much more energy efficient than halogens and other filament lamps, these LED recessed downlights are perfect operating with an alternative or renewable energy resource such as solar or wind power in cold or warm environments.

In addition, these LED downlights are Energy Star listed, making them eligible for rebate and tax incentive programs.

The RDL32-4-12W LED recessed dimmable downlights come with a LEDtronics 5-year warranty, and are available through LEDtronics distributors. Retail price is $29.95 each. Quantity discounts are available to qualified distributors. Availability is stock to 4-6 weeks for large order requirements. New NanoMarkets Report Projects Smart Lighting Chips Markets to Reach Over $1.0 Billion by 2019

Based on the broad acceptance of the Internet-of-Things (IoT), of which smart lighting is a part, NanoMarkets has considerably upgraded its long-term forecasts for smart lighting compared with a previous report we issued in 2013.

Glen Allen, Virginia (June 24, 2014) — The market for LED drivers, MCUs, sensors and other chips used in smart lighting will grow from around $67 million in 2014 to $1.05 billion in 2019. This is according to a new report from industry analyst firm NanoMarkets titled, “The Markets for Smart Lighting Drivers, Controllers and Sensor Chips – 2014.” Based on the broad acceptance of the Internet-of-Things (IoT), of which smart lighting is a part, NanoMarkets has considerably upgraded its long-term forecasts for smart lighting compared with a previous report we issued in 2013.

For more details about the report: http://www.nanomarkets.net/market_reports/report/the-markets-for-smart-lighting-drivers-controllers-and-sensor-chips-2014.

The firm recently issued two separate reports on smart lighting markets in a two volume series. See http://www.nanomarkets.net/market_reports/report/smart-lighting-markets-2014-v1-v2 for details.

About the report:

The report, “The Markets for Smart Lighting Drivers, Controllers and Sensor Chips – 2014,” provides insight into the market opportunities available to the semiconductor industry as the result of the current boom in smart lighting, which itself is part of the transition to an IoT. Smart lighting provides users high levels of energy efficiency, color tuning (mood enhancement) capabilities and/or visible light communications.

The report contains detailed eight-year market projections of seven major smart lighting chip types in both revenue and volume terms. Additional breakouts are provided by (1) the part of the lighting system in which the chips are used and (2) the technology generation of the system itself and (3) the type of building, vehicle or location in which the smart lighting systems will be used.

Firms mentioned in the report include: Acuity Brands, ARM, Atmel, Broadcom, California Eastern Labs, Casio, Cavet, Cypress Semiconductor, Daintree Networks, Digi, Dresden elektronik, Eastfield, Easylite, Echoflex, Energy Automation Systems, EnOcean, Fifth Light, FlexiPanel, Freescale, Leviton, IBSEN, Infineon, Intel, Leedarson, Libellium, Lumenergi, Lumetric, Lutron, Luxim, Marvell, Masco, Microchip Technology, MK Electric, MMB Research, Nivis, NXP, OLEDCOMM, Omnio, Osram, Panasonic, Philips, Radiocrafts, Radios Inc., Renesas, RF Monolithics, Schneider Electric, Sena, Sharp, Siemens, Silicon Labs, STMicroelectronics, Supreme Architecture, Sylvania, Telegesis, Texas Instruments, Universal Lighting, and Zonoff.

From the report:

The LED lighting market is expected to expand rapidly and much of the next-generation of LED lighting being deployed will be “smart.” We are seeing a growing interest in smart lighting by the chipmakers as part of their refocusing on Internet-of-Things opportunities. New types of intelligent LED drivers with embedded sensors and MCUs are expected to emerge as a result. Sales of LED drivers for smart lighting systems are expected to reach $525 million by 2019.

Despite such growth, LED driver chips for energy efficient lighting will commoditize quickly. It will become increasingly hard to make the case for smart lighting on just efficiency grounds anymore. As a result, NanoMarkets believes that chipmakers will then turn their attention to color-tunable lighting for improved mood, health and job performance. Here there is still considerable opportunity to designing innovative chips enabling cool-to-warm adjustment and the ability to cycle through a range of colors. Chips consumed by color tuning smart lighting systems will reach almost $260 million by 2019.
