T5 Data Centers Scheduled to Open Advanced, Greener Data Center Campus in Colorado Springs

Scheduled for Completion in 2014, T5@Colorado Data Center Strategically Located to Lower Power Consumption and Take Advantage of Colorado’s Digital Economy.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (April 23, 2013) — T5 Data Centers, innovators in providing state-of-the-art, customizable and highly reliable computing support environments for any enterprise, has started construction on T5@Colorado, its sixth data center complex, in Colorado Springs. The new $800 million data center campus will be situated on 64 acres and promises to offer businesses high reliability at lower operating costs while boosting job creation in the area. Completion of the first phase of the project is expected by Q1 2014.

T5@Colorado is a purpose-built data center park designed to meet the immediate Information Technology needs of modern business with the flexibility to grow for the future. The data center campus promises 100 MW of available power with sustainable, eco-friendly design capabilities and offers power rates of $0.0444 per kilowatt-hour with the potential to utilize free cooling over 97 percent of the year. It will be ideal for either single-tenant enterprise users or wholesale colocation with Tier II, III, or IV capability and unlimited design flexibility to service requirements as diverse as cloud, big data or high performance computing.

T5 continues to develop state-of-the-art data centers in strategic locations to deliver maximum capacity, security and service with minimal operating overhead. The new Colorado Springs campus will be able to take advantage of the high plains climate by using the cooler, drier external air to reduce air conditioning and operating costs. The location also is strategically placed close to the Denver Technology Center, a technology and telecommunications hub, and will serve as a central data relay center to lower latency for business-critical enterprise applications from coast to coast.

T5 executives anticipate that the new data center campus will create 400 – 600 new high-paying jobs in the area. Industry research indicates that for every job directly created by the data center, there are five jobs created indirectly.

“Colorado Springs is the ideal location for the next phase of our expansion,” said Peter Marin, President and CEO of T5 Data Centers. “This is a vibrant, growing area with a strong and supportive business climate, and the proximity to Denver, as well as local colleges and military installations, gives us access to terrific talent and local resources. We want this new data center campus to be groundbreaking as an eco-friendly green facility, offering our customers the best possible enterprise infrastructure and support services at competitive rates.”

Cloud computing and data processing continue to be growth markets. A report by Biggins Lacy Shapiro & Co. predicts that new construction for large enterprise data centers will increase from $6 billion in 2012 to $12 billion by 2015. According to International Data Corporation, spending on cloud computing services was expected to grow from $16.2 million in 2008 to $42 million by the end of 2012, making the IT industry and data processing the fastest growing industry in the United States.

T5 Data Centers New State-of-the-Art T5@LA Facility in El Segundo Is Now Server-Ready

New Purpose-Built Data Center Now Available for Lease for Business-Critical Enterprise Customers, First Lease Signed with L.A. Infrastructure Provider.

Los Angeles, CA, USA (November 29, 2012) — T5 Data Centers, innovators in providing state-of-the-art, customizable, and highly reliable computing support for any enterprise, today announced the completion and commissioning of its new T5@LA data center at 444 North Nash Street, El Segundo, California. The T5 team has successfully commissioned the first 3.7-megawatts (3.7 MWs) of what will ultimately be 16.65 MWs of critical power, so the new data center is ready for mission-critical operations for lease to enterprise customers.

In addition, T5 announced the signing of the first lease at T5@LA. The Los Angeles based critical infrastructure agency is the first enterprise customer and will occupy a custom-built data hall. They selected T5@LA because of the facility’s seismic rating, dedicated power supply, and redundant systems that ensure uninterrupted service. They also selected T5 Data Centers because of the company’s reputation for reliability and data security. Occupancy will be in 2013.

The new T5@LA data center is a purpose-built, 205,000-square-foot building on a 6.1 acre site. Designed as a high-quality, fully equipped wholesale data center, the facility is customizable to customer needs and features 120,000 square feet of raised floor. The building is built from structurally enhanced steel and has been designed to withstand earthquakes with a seismic importance factor of 1.5. T5@LA also has a dedicated, on-site power substation to ensure high reliability of electricity at a reduced “wholesale” cost.

“Los Angeles has been an underserved market for server-ready data center services” said Pete Marin, President of T5. “T5@LA is the first purpose built wholesale data center in the Los Angeles basin. We’re seeing great demand for our high quality and super-efficient design.”

The new T5@LA data center was designed for large enterprise customers seeking a customizable, “always-on” computing environment. The facility takes advantage of cool coastal air to help chill the data halls via an indirect evaporative process that uses approximately half the energy of traditional data center designs. T5 maintains round-the-clock engineering and support staff, as well as redundant systems to deliver the best service possible as well as peace of mind. The company already supports a number of Fortune 200 companies at its other data center facilities.

“We are very excited to welcome our first tenant to T5@LA,” said Aaron Wangenheim Executive Vice President of T5, responsible for marketing and leasing. “T5@LA was chosen by this discerning customer because of our ability to deliver the right solution and the right efficiencies. Their critical applications required the most resilient data center possible, and we’re excited to welcome them to T5@LA.”

T5 Expands to Oregon with New Data Center Project in Hillsboro

New Construction to Begin on the State’s First, Purpose-built, Wholesale Data Center Scheduled for Completion in 2013.

Portland, OR, USA (October 11, 2012) — Atlanta-based T5 Data Centers, a leading data center owner and operator supporting enterprise and wholesale data users, today announced its expansion into the Pacific Northwest with a new project, T5@Portland. T5 has acquired a 15-acre parcel of land in Hillsboro, Oregon, and is finalizing design for construction of a 200,000 square-foot, LEED-certified data center facility. Once completed, the project will be the only purpose-built, ground-up wholesale data center in the state of Oregon.

Construction of the new T5@Portland facility is scheduled to begin in early 2013, with customer ready data halls delivered in early fall 2013. The data center design is optimized to take into account the cool climate, thereby reducing the amount of power and water used to operate the facility. The center will include high-efficiency, indirect evaporative cooling with custom air handlers.

“The Pacific Northwest is a well-established destination for enterprise users looking for safe, efficient data center solutions” said Pete Marin, President of T5. “Hillsboro offers the best combination of low taxes, low power costs, a reliable infrastructure and easy access for out-of-region companies. We anticipate the T5@Portland data center to be a showcase for responsible development, and will demonstrate to customers that we can design and engineer to embrace energy efficiencies while continuing to offer our clients the resiliency and uptime they require.”

As a purpose-built building, the data center also will have a hardened building shell that exceeds all seismic requirements, multiple generators for power redundancy, as well as redundant power feeds from the utility substation. Ultimately, the data center will deliver 12.25 MW of critical power with a power density up to 200 watts-per-square-foot. The T5@Portland data center will also include an on-site office and support space, as well as 24/7 monitoring of operations. Fiber connectivity is available from a dozen independent service providers, and there are three transpacific landing stations situated in Hillsboro.

T5 Data Centers is aggressively expanding its operations to meet growing customer demand. In addition to T5@Portland, T5 offers wholesale and/or enterprise data center space in the Dallas, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Charlotte markets.
