CVMoon.com officially launched their new recruitment service during March 2014 with a little help from the Moon. Their stated “No nonsense, no frills” recruitment service is initially aimed at the UK job market, but with plans to expand into both the US and rest of Europe in the very near future.
United Kingdom (March 26, 2014) — The company’s name, website and logo, take their inspiration from the Moon, by using existing visible features on the moon’s surface which resemble the letters “C” and “V” (from Curriculum Vitae) exploiting the “Pareidolia” effect.
According to Wikipedia, “Pareidolia is a psychological phenomenon involving a vague and random stimulus (often an image or sound) being perceived as significant”. A common example of Pareidolia is seeing shapes of animals or other recognizable objects in clouds. The registered trademark logo of cvmoon makes full use of this effect by accentuating the letters “C” and “V” against a recognizable photograph of the full Moon. cvmoon claim that once you have a taken a fresh look at the moon and can make out their logo, you will never be able to see the moon quite the same again!
Several companies have previously expressed an interest in placing their logos on the Moon, some more seriously such as Pizza Hut and others more jovially like Pepsi. There has even been company offering to carve your company’s logo on the moon! CVMoon.com believe that they have stolen a march on all of these companies by identifying and using the existing features clearly visible on the moon in their logo which is no t only protected by copyright but also as a registered trademark.
This new recruitment service differentiates itself from the many similar others in this already crowded market place, by the strict adherence to two key fundamental principles –
– “Job Seekers CVs/Resumes should always be freely accessible to every genuine recruiter”
– “No one should have to pay to advertise a genuine job vacancy on the Internet”
Further, cvmoon states that they have adopted a design and implementation philosophy of “KISS” (Keep It Simple, Stupid) and make reference to the following to demonstrate this:
– Absence of unnecessary links, pictures, and other extraneous information.
– Only core functionality is being offered to ensure that navigation through the site is as simple as possible e.g. Jobseekers can upload their CV/Resume and job requirements and/or search the database for current job vacancies and nothing else. Similarly, potential recruiters can search the CV/Resume database for suitable candidates and/or post their job vacancies for jobseekers to view.
