Online parcel delivery specialist Parcel2Go has warned people not to delay ordering their presents online if they want to ensure goods will be delivered before Christmas.
Strong winds have hit many parts of the UK in recent days and the first snowfalls of winter have left parts of Scotland and northern England with a covering of the white stuff. Forecasters are now predicting that more bad weather is on the way.
Post and parcel deliveries were badly affected last year when snow led to major disruption on Britain’s roads, and Parcel2Go is urging shoppers to act now and not wait for the last post dates to be sure of receiving Christmas presents on time. An estimated 73 per cent of people will head onto the internet to purchase gifts this year, which means parcel delivery companies have had to step up efforts in order to deal with demand.
Richard Mercer, marketing director at Parcel2Go, which helps individuals and businesses ship in excess of two million parcels with UK courier firms every year, said being organised and making sure Christmas presents get into the hands of the UK’s leading courier companies as soon as possible will pay dividends.
He said: “We all know how strong the temptation is to leave things to the last minute, but clearly online present shopping is not something that can be done on Christmas Eve. There can be enough stresses over Christmas and so we’re calling on shoppers to make sure present buying and waiting for a parcel delivery are simple and stress- free experiences.
“Last year the weather played a significant part in determining whether deliveries could be made and so our message to shoppers is that breaking a habit many of us are normally guilty of, and buying presents a bit earlier, could end up saving Christmas!”
One of the many benefits of having Christmas gifts sent out with one of the UK’s leading courier companies is that you can monitor the progress of your packages online and, if necessary, organise alternative arrangements.
Richard added: “Buying in plenty of time for Christmas and making sure that you get a reliable parcel courier service from firms such as DHL or FedEx will ensure that everyone wakes up on December 25 with the gifts meant for them.”
