UniNet iColor 700 Digital Label Press Outshines Primera CX1200

The UniNet iColor 700 digital label press is a worthy competitor to Primera CX1200 – outshining it in speed, flexibility, variability, and cost.

Concord, Ontario (September 3, 2015) — The Primera CX1200 digital label press, and its CX1000 sibling, is widely considered the best industrial color label press. A new player has emerged, the UniNet iColor 700, and it outshines the Primera CX1200 in: speed, flexibility, variability, and operating cost.

Both are laser label printers. Powered by LED laser technology, the iColor 700 operates at a lower operating temperature, allowing for a much larger selection of laser label materials. Jim Brown from Optimedia Labs said, “The iColor 700 prints on paper, tag, vinyl, polypropylene and polyester label stock – and more. The Primera CX1200’s media choices are much more limited.”

The UniNet iColor 700 is nearly twice as fast as the Primera CX1200, printing at 30 feet per minute (the CX1200 is 16.25 feet per minute). Faster print jobs save both time and money.

Other advantages include:

• Matrix removal – The iColor 700 prints label media with or without the matrix. Primera’s CX1200/CX1000 requires purchasing additional equipment, like the FX1000 matrix removal system, to remove the matrix.

• Media width – The UniNet iColor 700 prints on media from 3 to 8.5 inches wide while the Primera CX1200/CX1000 only prints on 8.5-inch media. For example, when printing a 4×3 label on the CX1200/CX1000, a single label spans the 8.5-inch media, resulting in waste. The iColor 700 can print two across on 8.5-inch media or one across using a 6-inch media width, reducing media costs.

• Glossy GHS printing – Both label printers can print GHS BS5609 labels, but the iColor 700 can do so on glossy polypropylene labels for a nicer look. The Primera CX1200 and CX1000’s higher temperature would melt glossy polypropylene labels.

• Variable data – The iColor 700 has an option for printing variable data, such as unique serial numbers, barcodes, and product information, on labels in one step. The Primera CX1200/CX1000 does not support variable data.

• White toner option – This allows for printing white graphics and text on clear or black label stock. The Primera CX1200 and CX1000 do not have a white toner option.

• Cost – The UniNet iColor 700 is about $3,000 cheaper than the Primera CX1200. “It’s not just the lower purchase price,” Brown pointed out. “The UniNet iColor 700 will produce label jobs faster and at lower cost due to reduced media wastage. Plus, the toners on the iColor 700 are also cheaper since the drum and toners are two separate units. Primera’s toner and drum are in a single unit, costing more to replace.”

Optimedia Labs offers low monthly payments on the UniNet iColor 700 (on approved credit) through its business leasing program – and fast turnaround and free shipping.

DuraFast Label Company Now Shipping the New Primera Technology LX2000 GHS Label Printer

High resolution full color label printing for the industrial labeling and chemical drum labeling markets.

Toronto (ON), Canada (June 10, 2015) — Primera Technology just announced the new Primera LX2000 GHS label printer, and DuraFast Label Company is ready to ship it to customers across USA and Canada. According to Basat Khalifa from DuraFast, Primera Technology blends both prime and GHS capabilities into the LX2000. “Our customers have been waiting anxiously,” he said. “And we’re ready with a large inventory of blank labels and supplies for the LX2000 to help customers start printing their own GHS BS5609 chemical drum labels or product labels immediately.”

Khalifa explained that the current industrial and chemical label printing markets are served by several respectable GHS BS5609 color label printers, albeit with lower print resolutions. “Primera Technology is bringing print resolutions of up to 4800dpi to this market,” he said. “Not only can the new LX2000 produce highly durable, oil-, water-, UV-, and chemical-resistant labels, it does so with unrivaled print quality.”

The Primera LX2000 is the first color label printer in the Primera Technology family to use pigment inks. Khalifa explained that pigment-based inks offer better water and UV resistance than dye-based inks. “Plus, the ink dries instantly,” he said. “You can touch the label the moment it is printed and it will not smudge or smear.”

With pigment inks and an inkjet print engine by HP, this particular color label printer from Primera is designed for the GHS and BS5609 chemical label market. This market needs to produce labels certified to the highest standards for shipping dangerous marine goods. “These standards require labels to withstand long-term exposure to seawater,” Khalifa explained. “We carry BS5609-certified chemical labels specifically formulated and certified for use with this new Primera LX2000.”

According to Primera Technology’s announcement of the Primera LX2000, the label printer and its output (label material and printed images) have passed BS5609 Section 3 testing involving: abrasion resistance, the removal of print by adhesive tape, and the permanence of print evaluations under extreme conditions (long term exposure to seawater, salt spray, and UV light.

The Primera LX2000 includes four large individual CKMY color capacity ink cartridges, resulting in lower consumable costs. “This color label printer is economical to buy and operate,” Khalifa said.

Khalifa also explained that since the Primera LX2000 prints at 4800dpi, it performs double duty. “It can also be used to print ‘prime’ product labels,” he said. “Our LX2000 customers have been ordering BS5609 chemical labels for printing drum labels and high gloss paper-based labels for labeling their products.”

The Primera LX2000 is the first pigment ink-based GHS printer that can print both GHS BS5609 labels and “prime” product labels in a single printer. The LX2000 prints pre-die cut labels on rolls up to 8 inches wide at speeds of up to 6 inches per minute. A variety of substrates are available for the Primera LX2000 including chemical (GHS BS5609), polyester, polypropylene (BOPP), and paper labels in matte and high gloss finishes.

DuraFast Label Company lists the Primera LX2000 at a price of only $3695 USD to customers in USA and Canada.

DuraFast Label Company Offers Fast, High Resolution Product Label Printing with the Epson TM-C7500G Gloss Color Label Printer

With resolution of up to 1200 x 600 dpi and print speeds of up to 11.8 inches per second, the Epson TM-C7500G Gloss color label printer is perfect for printing photo quality product labels.

Toronto (ON), Canada (May 27, 2015) — DuraFast Label Company is a certified Epson partner now offering the Epson TM-C7500G Gloss color label printer as well as replacement ink cartridges, supplies, accessories, and glossy labels designed specifically for use with this printer.

According to Basat Khalifa from DuraFast, the Epson TM-C7500G Gloss color label printer is ideal for companies that want to print their own product labels on demand. “The Epson ColorWorks C7500G produces gorgeous, full color glossy labels at 1200 by 600 dots per inch,” he said. “And it’s fast – nearly 12 inches per second.”

This speed is the result of a single-pass inkjet system. The Epson TM-C7500G Gloss color label printer includes a built-in unwinder, allowing for larger unattended print runs. “Labels can be printed and immediately wound onto the roll by using the optional TM-C7500 rewinder. The unwinder is contained within the machine and can hold media rolls up to 8″ outside diameter, or OD,” he explained. “If the user wants to bypass the unwinder and connect an external unwinder with larger rolls up to 12″ OD, that is also easy to do.”

The Epson TM-C7500G Gloss color label printer uses modified pigment-based inks specifically developed by Epson for prime label applications on materials such as glossy polypropylene, glossy clear polyester, and even glossy white polyester labels. The ink dries immediately, with no smudging or smearing. The label printer also uses high capacity CMYK ink cartridges.

“The Epson ColorWorks C7500G Gloss uses high yield ink cartridges, bringing the cost of ownership down,” Khalifa said. “We regularly provide our customers with ink cost analyses, and they’re usually pleasantly surprised at the cost savings in terms of operating costs. Not only that, they don’t have to stop production as frequently and there’s less waste, both of which add to the bottom line.”

According to Epson’s brochure, the Epson TM-C7500G Gloss has up to 50 percent lower printing costs than its competitors. Khalifa said that the Epson TM-C7500G sells for $8495 USD and is now being shipped to DuraFast customers across USA and Canada.

The Epson TM-C7500G Gloss label printer is designed for high volume “prime” label production. Prime labels are typically product labels featuring rich, colorful graphics and text. For example, fresh food producers can use this label printer to produce their own fresh food product labels such as labels for baked bread, fresh produce containers, cookies, deli meats, and gourmet foods.

A matte version of the Epson TM-C7500 is also available for printing highly durable GHS BS5609 chemical labels.
