Chinese E-commerce Juggernaut Alibaba Set to Boost IPO Price Despite High-frequency Trading Concerns

Edgar Perez, former McKinsey and IBM consultant, is a global expert, author of The Speed Traders, Knightmare on Wall Street, and the course director of The Speed Traders Workshop 2014 Singapore, “How Banks, Hedge and Mutual Funds and Brokers Battle Markets ‘RIGGED’ by Wall Street’s ‘Flash Boys’, High-frequency Trading, Exchanges and Dark Pools”.

New York, NY, USA (September 16, 2014) — China’s biggest e-commerce company plans to increase the top end of a marketed price range to just below $70, from $66 previously. According to Reuters, Alibaba worried about Nasdaq’s ability to handle their $21 billion IPO, since the exchange botched Facebook’s market debut two years ago. Nasdaq tried to persuade Alibaba that it had fixed the problem but it is not clear whether they were swayed. One source said that Alibaba eventually was satisfied that Nasdaq had solved the issue and chose NYSE because its overall pitch was better. Another said Nasdaq executives believed that Alibaba decided that the possibility of a botched IPO, however small, outweighed the possible benefits of being in the index.

Nasdaq systems buckled under the tremendous volume of orders on the first day of trading in Facebook’s shares in 2012, leading to hours of delay. In its current presentation to Alibaba, Nasdaq detailed the steps it had taken to prevent another Facebook-style glitch said. The exchange has said it responded to Facebook by putting extra safeguards in place, creating new positions within the company to improve communications with the industry and regulators when errors occur, and establishing an engineering team to monitor and analyze daily performance.

At the end, Alibaba chose NYSE; according to Mr. Edgar Perez, course director of The Speed Traders Workshop 2014 Singapore, “How Banks, Hedge and Mutual Funds and Brokers Battle Markets ‘RIGGED’ by Wall Street’s ‘Flash Boys’, High-frequency Trading, Exchanges and Dark Pools”, that is the reason why Alibaba shouldn’t worry about high-frequency trading, as NYSE systems have demonstrated time-tested resilience in the IPO process.

The Speed Traders Workshop 2014 Singapore (http://www.thespeedtradersworkshop.com), covers the latest research currently available and reveals how high-frequency trading players are operating in global markets and driving the development of electronic trading at breakneck speeds from the U.S. and Europe to Japan, India, and Brazil. The “flash crash”, the suspended BATS IPO, the botched Facebook IPO, Knight Capital’s trading malfunction and Nasdaq’s Flash Freeze are just a few of the milestones in the history of high-frequency trading that will be dissected with participants.

Knightmare on Wall Street, the fascinating story of Knight Capital put together by course director Edgar Perez, was the most favorably reviewed Kindle edition book on Amazon in 2013, with an average rating of 5 out of five stars. Knight Capital, founded by Kenneth Pasternak and Walter Raquet in 1995, had seen its fortunes change as U.S. regulators made a series of changes in the structure of financial markets and computers were progressively expanding their share of trading. The Flash Crash, the infamous 1,000 point drop of the DJIA on May 6, 2010 (the largest one-day point decline in history), illustrated how market structure problems could almost instantaneously cascade from one market participant to the rest.

Mr. Perez is widely regarded as the preeminent global expert and speaker in the specialized areas of algorithmic and high-frequency trading. He is also author of The Speed Traders, An Insider’s Look at the New High-Frequency Trading Phenomenon That is Transforming the Investing World, published in English, Chinese and Bahasa Indonesia. How Does High-Frequency Trading Impact Investors at The Speed Traders Workshop 2014 Singapore

New York, NY, USA (August 25, 2014) — High-frequency trading provides market liquidity, and that’s good for individual investors. Some say it’s unfair because a few very smart people are making money doing it. Rick Ferri, founder of Portfolio Solutions LLC, disagrees Competition will take care of that, he says. In his view, as long as this method of stock trading can be done by anyone with the resources to participate, and if the process leads to lower overall trading costs for investors, then he is all for it.

How does Edgar Perez, author of Knightmare on Wall Street (http://www.knightmareonwallstreet.com) analyze the situation? Mr. Perez will open the door to the secretive world of computerized low-latency trading, the most controversial form of investing today; at The Speed Traders Workshop 2014 Singapore, “How Banks, Hedge and Mutual Funds and Brokers Battle Markets ‘RIGGED’ by Wall Street’s ‘Flash Boys’, High-frequency Trading, Exchanges and Dark Pools” (http://www.thespeedtradersworkshop.com), the first and most comprehensive initiation to the world of high-frequency trading.

What Goldman Sachs, HTC, Citi, Sony and Metlife, Will Discover on November 7 @WearableCompCon

Building off of the momentum of past successful conferences, Golden Networking brings Wearable Computing Conference 2013 New York City (www.wearable-computing-conference.com), “Revolutionizing the Human Experience Through Next-Generation Technology”, November 7.

New York City, NY, USA (November 3, 2013) — Goldman Sachs, HTC, Citi, Sony and Metlife are just a few of the hundreds of companies that will be represented at Golden Networking’s Wearable Computing Conference 2013 (http://www.wearable-computing-conference.com), “Revolutionizing the Human Experience Through Next-Generation Technology”.

Indeed, as reported by The Wall Street Journal, big and medium-sized companies are putting wearables to work. Companies are figuring out how to use those kinds of gadgets to improve their business. They’re giving wearables to employees and customers to gather subtle data about how they move and act-and then use that information to help them do their jobs better or improve their buying experience.

For businesses, these gadgets represent a tremendous opportunity, but there is also a big risk involved. People will naturally resist real-world intrusions into their privacy, so businesses need to be very careful about asking employees and customers to strap gadgets on their heads, chests and wrists.

Early experiments with these gadgets have yielded a couple of valuable lessons. If companies push for wearable gadgets to pursue heavy-handed objectives, like ratcheting up efficiency or productivity, the move will invariably backfire and hurt morale. Instead, companies need to link up their goals with individual goals-such as using wearables to make an employee’s job safer or more interesting, or giving customers a better deal.

To get a sense of what this approach looks like, consider the Hitachi Business Microscope-a gadget about the size of a company ID badge that workers wear on a lanyard around their neck.

The device is packed with sensors that monitor things like how workers move and speak, as well as environmental factors like light and temperature. So, it can track where workers travel in an office, and recognize whom they’re talking to by communicating with other people’s badges. It can also measure how well they’re talking to them-by recording things like how often they make hand gestures and nod, and the energy level in their voice.

Workers can see how their communication habits and energy levels change depending on whom they’re meeting or where-a one-hour brainstorming session with five colleagues where they energetically contributed, compared with the session where they just sat there.

The gadget’s LCD screen displays real-time stats for personal feedback and benchmarking, and for implementing larger strategies to improve collaboration. According to Hitachi, one firm introduced the HBM after combining two product-design groups. Several weeks after the merger, the HBM showed little interaction between the two groups. The new manager, who came from one of the old groups, discovered that he was part of the problem, since data showed he was having little or no interaction with many new reports.

So, the new head intentionally made connections with direct reports who weren’t previously part of his group. Others struck up new working relationships after they discovered there were people in the other group they could be collaborating with but weren’t.

Behind Trading Errors at Knight, Everbright and Goldman Sachs with Perez’s Knightmare on Wall Street

Edgar Perez, Author, The Speed Traders, and Course Director, The Speed Traders Workshop, Proudly Introduces Knightmare on Wall Street, The Rise and Fall of Knight Capital and the Biggest Risk for Financial Markets, a Behind-the-scenes Look at Knight Capital’s 17 years of Tumultuous Existence as an Independent Company.

New York City, NY, USA (August 23, 2013) — A trading error originated on Tuesday 20 at Goldman Sachs has once again shaken investors’ confidence in the markets. What is behind these trading errors is explored in amazing detail by Mr. Edgar Perez in his latest book Knightmare on Wall Street, The Rise and Fall of Knight Capital and the Biggest Risk for Financial Markets, exclusively available at http://www.KnightmareonWallStreet.com, book that provides a thrilling minute-by-minute account of the terrifying hours following their August 1, 2012 trading debacle, with news-breaking research regarding Knight Capital’s 17 years of tumultuous existence as an independent company.

The firm, founded by Kenneth Pasternak and Walter Raquet in 1995, had seen its fortunes change as U.S. regulators made a series of changes in the structure of financial markets and computers were progressively expanding their share of trading. The Flash Crash, the infamous 1,000 point drop of the DJIA on May 6, 2010 (the largest one-day point decline in history), illustrated how market structure problems could almost instantaneously cascade from one market participant to the rest.

Thomas Joyce, CEO of Knight Capital since 2002 and an unapologetic advocate of electronic trading, had been scornful of those companies that struggled to keep up with ever-changing stock markets. So it was certainly shocking that at 9:30 A.M. on August 1, 2012, right after the markets opened for the day, Knight Capital began issuing an unprecedented number of erroneous orders into the market, due to an error in installing new software. No rogue trader or regulatory change; operational risk was passing the bill to Knight Capital and becoming the biggest risk in the financial markets.

Knight Capital announced later a staggering loss of $440 million. What followed after this shocking announcement were several rounds of desperate conversations with a number of vulture players who had smelled opportunity and were readying themselves to pick up bargain-priced pieces. On August 6, 2012, Joyce confirmed that Knight Capital had struck a deal with Jefferies, TD Ameritrade, Blackstone, GETCO, Stephens, and Stifel Financial, staving off collapse days after the trading mishap.

While Knight Capital was back in the game, its limping recovery quickly prompted hungry competitors to bid for the entire company. On December 19, 2012, the board decided to accept an acquisition proposal from GETCO rather than Virtu Financial. For GETCO, acquiring Knight Capital represented a gigantic fast forward step. For Knight Capital, it was the end of its wild ride as an independent entity.

Pinstripes For Banksters And Justice For All. It’s Only Right.

Peaceful restoration of our freedoms and justice for all is what all of us want. Over two hundred years ago when we fought against tyranny for our independence, many lives were lost, some of those were innocent people but in that instance it was necessary, today we hope that our govenrmnet comes to it’s senses and realizes that they can’t and mustn’t favor one class of people over others and justice should be doled out equally to all if a law has been broken-we must not just tolerate crime and look the other way for certain people.

Turn off the TV, don’t let them divert your attention any longer, wake up because your freedoms are slowly and surely being stripped from you. It won’t be long before they knock on the door to your home, they tell you to surrender your guns and issue a decree that you are no longer authorized to protest in any way against the government. This will also include postings online, speech and that your opinions and dissent must be kept to yourself or you will be imprisoned for inciting violence against the government or should I say, the monarchy.

The banks and the government created this financial mess but the citizens, taxpayers and homeowners have had to take the brunt of it and it’s now weighing so much on our shoulders that we can’t tolerate in any further. Stop the insanity now, these people have the misconception that they are Gods, perfect in every way and they put it across to all of us in an arrogant and belittling way. All of us deserve better, we deserve a media that reports the truth, not what the government authorizes or we aren’t any better than Venezuela, where Hugo Chaves controls the media in every way and tries to keep the people uninformed and preoccupied with news and reports of a mundane nature so no one will catch on that he’s fattening his vault just as the leaders of all of the countries in the Middle East that have fallen already to the uprising of the people. If you recall when you read the bible last that Jesus only got angry with one group of people-they were the moneychangers and he cast them out, this is what we must do without hesitation.

The people of this country fought the second World War and defeated two dictatorships that wanted to control the world, but the U.S. men and women of that generation got the job done, everyone worked together, over 20 million men joined the armed forces, while the women took their places in the factories and that’s how it’s done. A peaceful resolution is what we all want but we must leave all options on the table as the government and the banks have already bought the police and they will be utilizing the returning troops to stand guard over all of us but we have hopes that they would not shoot us down like dogs as they may be killing their own loved ones, friends and co-workers at the behest of the real animals that are threatening the values, democracy and economic structure of this country.

If we are going to restore the freedoms and stop the fraudulent bankers from pilfering and betting on our economy and threatening our futures than we deserve what we get, otherwise, let’s get together and demand a stop to his treachery and debauchery orchestrated and implemented by Washington D.C. and Wall Street elitists. Their plan is simple, financial destruction of the multitudes.

Justice for all, no exceptions and If the bankers commit fraud, they must be treated as any other citizen no matter what, including prison sentences if the crime is serious enough to warrant it.
