Wearable Tech Trends to Watch on November 7 at Golden Networking’s Wearable Computing Conference NYC

Golden Networking brings Wearable Computing Conference 2013 New York City (www.wearable-computing-conference.com), “Revolutionizing the Human Experience Through Next-Generation Technology”, November 7.

New York City, NY, USA (October 29, 2013) — Wearable technology is all the rage, but the craze goes beyond connected eyewear such as Google Glass and smart timepieces such as Samsung Galaxy Gear and Apple’s rumored iWatch. Designers are creating apparel, accessories and fitness wear that can do everything from monitor your heart rate to charge your smartphone. These trends will be debated at Golden Networking’s Wearable Computing Conference 2013 (http://www.wearable-computing-conference.com), “Revolutionizing the Human Experience Through Next-Generation Technology”, to be held in New York City, on November 7.

CNBC reports that start-up Heapsylon has a smart sock, Sensoria, that is paired with an anklet to automatically detect the type and level of activity based on pressure signals coming from the foot of the wearer. Sensors in the sock communicate data to the anklet, which then can relay the information to the user via an app. For example, it can track a runner’s regular form and send an alert when he or she is making an injurious movement.

Berlin-based label Moon Berlin, which makes luxury clothing, focuses on using technology to enhance the look of its designs. Soft-circuit LEDs are integrated into the garments, connected to an electrical circuit attached to rubber-like materials that are integrated into fabrics.

Someday users may be able to charge their smartphone with their clothes. Flexible solar panels have inspired designers to come up with clothes and accessories that can power electronics. Start-up Wearable Solar is using the technology to make lightweight wired garments that enable the wearer to charge a smartphone up to 50 percent if worn in the sun for a full hour. Finally, New York-based Voltaic Systems makes a collection of bags that can charge a variety of devices.

Topics that Wearable Computing Conference 2013 will discuss include:

– Key Features of Wearable Technologies
– A New World for Application Developers
– How Wearable Technologies Will Transform the Human Experience
– Wearable Computing and its Impact on the Technology Marketplace
– The Future of Wearable Computing Today

Why Apple iWatch and Google Glass Will Change Tech at Wearable Computing Conference 2013 New York

Golden Networking brings Wearable Computing Conference 2013 New York City (www.wearable-computing-conference.com), “Revolutionizing the Human Experience Through Next-Generation Technology”, November 7.

New York City, NY, USA (October 29, 2013) — Apple iWatch and Google Glass are a few of the new high-tech wearable products that are capturing the imagination of technophiles and public in general. More and more large-scale companies from Olympus to Samsung are pouring significant investments in wearable technology. Analysts predict a rally in the new mobile device category is around the corner as demand grows.

The introduction of wearable technologies allows users to access technology hands free. There will no longer be the need to carry around bulky devices. Information can be accessed at your command and pictures or videos can be taken with the wink of an eye. What are the key features of this technology? How are these functions different from the traditional computer and phone programs? How can wearable technologies be integrated with already established technologies?

There is no doubt that the wearable technology is a robust flexible display market, which IHS predicts will reach nearly 800 million unit shipments by 2020 from just 3.2 million in this year. That is why a rising number of companies get involved in it in spite of excessive expense.

Several companies have expressed interest in designing wearable technology including Google, which has thousands of people testing its Google Glass smart headwear through its Google Explorer program. Meanwhile, Dell, Samsung and Acer, all of these electronics giants claim about developing wearable gadgets to deal with declining sales of their traditional products. Most companies are still in development and stuck in testing period as exorbitant amounts of money on this next-generation technology. This technology spur will be debated at Golden Networking’s Wearable Computing Conference 2013 (http://www.wearable-computing-conference.com), “Revolutionizing the Human Experience Through Next-Generation Technology”, to be held in New York City, on November 7, forum featuring insightful discussions:

What Samsung Galaxy Gear SmartWatch Brings at Wearable Computing Conference 2013 New York City

Golden Networking brings Wearable Computing Conference 2013 New York City (www.wearable-computing-conference.com), “Revolutionizing the Human Experience Through Next-Generation Technology”, November 7.

New York City, NY, USA (October 29, 2013) — Samsung Galaxy Gear, the latest smartwatch from the Korean electronics company, was just announced on September 4, 2013, and is now available in over 140 countries. What this technology development bring to the consumer landscape will be debated at Golden Networking’s Wearable Computing Conference 2013 (http://www.wearable-computing-conference.com), “Revolutionizing the Human Experience Through Next-Generation Technology”, to be held in New York City, on November 7, forum featuring insightful discussions:

– Key Features of Wearable Technologies
– A New World for Application Developers
– How Wearable Technologies Will Transform the Human Experience
– Wearable Computing and its Impact on the Technology Marketplace
– The Future of Wearable Computing Today

Masable’s Lance Ulanoff has already alerted the developer’s community of 70 third-party apps ready for the Galaxy Gear when it launches in the U.S. in October. When he quizzed Samsung execs on whether apps are ported or built, they acknowledged that they’re mostly built. Samsung Mobile’s Chief Product Officer Kevin Packingham, however, clarified: Since the apps are all Android-based, “it’s typically slimming it down, not a complete rewrite.”

As for where the rest of the social network apps are (at the unveiling the Gear only had Path), Ryan Bidan, Director of Product Marketing for Samsung Mobile, said, “There are safe expectations that additional social networks are coming in short order.”

While the Galaxy Gear can already take pictures and sense its own movement and orientation, the initial set of apps and connected devices (namely just one, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3) only scratch the surface of what’s possible with the device. Samsung plans to deliver a set of open APIs to developers so they can engage with all the sensors on the Galaxy Gear and leverage its persistent connection to the phone.

Finally, when asked how the Gear can succeed where, for instance, Microsoft Spot watches failed, Packingham first offered an admittedly trite answer, “The technology available to us makes a big difference,” adding, “These devices are genuinely intelligent.” He also noted that they run actual operating systems (Android) and have access to far more real-time data than their ill-fated predecessors. They’re also more adaptable and flexible, putting for instance, your social network on your wrist. According to Bidan, who was at Microsoft during the Spot era, “the technology is finally catching up to the expectations.” They also believe the smartphone era has helped train and prepare consumers for this new age of smart watches.

Wearable Tech Devices To Watch at Golden Networking’s Wearable Computing Conference 2013 New York

Golden Networking brings Wearable Computing Conference 2013 New York City (www.wearable-computing-conference.com), “Revolutionizing the Human Experience Through Next-Generation Technology”, November 7.

New York City, NY, USA (October 28, 2013) — InformationWeek’s Kristin Burnham has seen the future. Accessories that buzz when the email you’ve been waiting for lands in your inbox. Devices that help you sleep more soundly. Gadgets that photograph and document your day, start to finish. Meet the latest innovations in the rapidly growing — and lucrative — industry of wearable tech, at Golden Networking’s Wearable Computing Conference 2013 (http://www.wearable-computing-conference.com), “Revolutionizing the Human Experience Through Next-Generation Technology”, to be held in New York City, on November 7.

Research company Visiongain predicts that the global wearable tech market will reach $4.6 billion this year. “With virtually limitless applications to a number of verticals, the wearable technology market represents a huge value proposition to all ecosystem members, from manufacturers to app developers and service report providers,” the company’s recent research report stated.

Among the verticals pouncing on the trend, the healthcare industry has rolled out a number of promising remote patient monitoring technologies, such as a bracelet that monitors a patient’s vitals, a device that determines the severity of a person’s sleep apnea and a wireless sensor that monitors fetal and maternal heart rates.

The fitness industry has also embraced the wearable tech trend, introducing the popular Fitbit and Nike’s FuelBand, both of which analyze your daily activity and track your weight. Jawbone, a wristband gadget, tracks how you sleep, exercise and eat.

But Google Glass and the emerging crop of smartwatches have generated the most buzz for wearable tech. The general public still can’t buy Google Glass, augmented reality glasses that the company began testing in April 2012. But developers have rolled out a number of apps, including Path and Evernote integration.

The Smartwatch buzz began in February when rumors swirled that Apple had an iWatch in the works. Though Apple has yet to deliver, the company is reportedly “aggressively” hiring engineers. Critics have questioned whether a viable market for smartwatches exists, but that hasn’t stopped manufacturers like Samsung from jumping in with early products to be discussed at Wearable Computing Conference 2013:

– A New World for Application Developers
– How Wearable Technologies Will Transform the Human Experience
– Wearable Computing and its Impact on the Technology Marketplace
– The Future of Wearable Computing Today

Why Apple Hires Burberry’s Angela Ahrendts at Golden Networking’s Wearable Technologies Conference

Building off of the momentum of past successful conferences, Golden Networking brings Wearable Computing Conference 2013 New York City (www.wearable-computing-conference.com), “Revolutionizing the Human Experience Through Next-Generation Technology”, November 7.

New York City, NY, USA (October 17, 2013) — “I am thrilled that Angela will be joining our team,” Apple CEO’s Tim Cook said in a statement announcing the appointment of Burberry’s CEO, Angela Ahrendts, as the new Head of Retail. “She shares our values and our focus on innovation, and she places the same strong emphasis as we do on the customer experience. She has shown herself to be an extraordinary leader throughout her career and has a proven track record.”

Why would Apple make such a move? Ahrendts was born and raised in a small town, New Palestine, Indiana, a suburb of Indianapolis. She acquired her Merchandising and Marketing degree from Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana, from where she also received an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree in 2010. She joined Burberry in January 2006, and took up the position of CEO on July 1, 2006. Prior to that, Ahrendts was Executive Vice President at Liz Claiborne Inc., where she joined the executive team in 1998. During her tenure, she oversaw the Contemporary, Casual, Bridge and Menswear businesses, comprising more than twenty brands and representing 40% of total company revenues. She previously spent six years as President of Donna Karan International.

According to Tim Beyers, Apple wasn’t content to let Google be the top dog in wearable computing. He can’t think of another good reason Apple would hire Ahrendts away from Burberry, one of its best partners in the fashion world. Officially, she’ll take a newly created senior vice president position reporting to Apple CEO Tim Cook. A press release describes the job as overseeing the “strategic direction, expansion, and operation” of Apple’s retail stores — both online and offline.

This and other questions will be debated at Golden Networking’s Wearable Computing Conference 2013 (http://www.wearable-computing-conference.com), “Revolutionizing the Human Experience Through Next-Generation Technology”, to be held in New York City, on November 7.

Wearable technology is related to both the field of ubiquitous computing and the history and development of wearable computers. With ubiquitous computing, wearable technology shares the vision of interweaving technology into the everyday life, of making technology pervasive and interaction frictionless. Through the history and development of wearable computing, this vision has been both contrasted and affirmed. Affirmed through the multiple projects directed at either enhancing or extending functionality of clothing, and as contrast, most notably through Steve Mann’s concept of “sousveillance”.

The history of wearable technology is influenced by both of these responses to the vision of ubiquitous computing. We are now at an inflexion point in the advancement of the adoption of wearable computing. To expand the market for wearable technologies, it is necessary for developers and manufacturers to lead the world to show how the usage of these technologies can revolutionize every aspect of the human experience.

Topics that Wearable Computing Conference 2013 will discuss include:

– Wearable Computing and its Impact on the Technology Marketplace
– The Future of Wearable Computing Today

Top Venture Capitalist China Expert, Harry Edelson, at Golden Networking’s China Leaders Forum 2013

Building off of the momentum of past conferences, Golden Networking brings back China Leaders Forum 2013 (http://www.ChinaLeadersForum.com), “Will the Chinese Dream Become Long-term Investors’ Dream or Nightmare?”, New York, October 1st.

New York City, NY, USA (September 24, 2013) — Harry Edelson, Managing Director, Edelson Technology Partners, will join China Leaders Forum 2013, “Will the Chinese Dream Become Long-term Investors’ Dream or Nightmare?”, conference that in its fifth edition is gearing up to provide the information practitioners are looking for in an open and unbiased environment, highly conducive to the most efficient and effective networking.

Mr. Edelson is highly respected in both the technology and financial industries and is one of the most prominent and successful venture capitalists on the East Coast. Throughout his career, Mr. Edelson has been known for his energy and outsized results partly due to his unique background combining technology and Wall Street analyst experiences. Mr. Edelson was named an All Star Security Analyst by Institutional Investor magazine and was among the most quoted analysts on Wall Street. Mr. Edelson left Wall Street when the CEOs of ten of the world’s largest multinational corporations (AT&T, Viacom, 3M, Ford Motor, Cincinnati Bell, Colgate-Palmolive, Reed Elsevier, Imation, Asea Brown Boveri and UPS) each in a different business, entrusted him with corporate rather than pension money to manage a series of strategic venture capital funds. Two additional prominent limited partners were Harbourvest and Wellcome Trust which entered the partnerships through secondary purchases. Mr. Edelson worked closely with the executive management of his corporate partners providing strategic assistance, consulting advice and contacts. Other venture capital funds managing equal sums often had four times the personnel and expenses of the Edelson Technology Partner funds (ETP). By way of contrast, Mr. Edelson voluntarily returned to the limited partners over 25% of management fees annually.

His venture capital performance over a 20-year span was rated number one of all venture capital firms in the Eastern United States by two of the four leading auditing firms. The annual return (IRR) for his funds averaged 27%, even through the disastrous stock market decline of 2000-2002. The Edelson Technology Partner funds were the first venture capital investor in ten early stage companies that grew to have market capitalizations of more than $1 billion and up to $30 billion. This was accomplished in part by Mr. Edelson’s instigation and support of numerous M&A transactions. Mr. Edelson has served on 80 boards, 12 as chairman.

Mr. Edelson’s career includes a long line of firsts. He was the first Wall Street analyst to combine coverage of computers, software and telecommunications. At that time, there was not even one buy side telecommunications analyst. He conducted the first video conference call on Wall Street bringing together CEOs and investors. Because of his background as a computer engineer and telecommunications engineer, and his innovative research on the confluence of computers and telecommunications, Mr. Edelson performed consulting assignments for more than 50 corporations. Before hedge funds were popular, he started a hedge fund for CEOs of technology companies and had positive results in a severely down market.

In March 2007, Mr. Edelson raised $40 million for a public Special Purpose Acquisition Company (SPAC) whose mandated goal was to merge with a Chinese company within two years. To complete the merger by the deadline in 2009, Mr. Edelson traveled to China 13 times in 18 months. His travels to numerous provinces in China entailed visits to 50 companies involved in diverse industries. In 2009, when many SPACs failed to complete their mergers and had to dissolve, Mr. Edelson completed a merger with a high-growth specialty thin steel company.

China Leaders Forum 2013 will provide attendees with the responses to the above-mentioned questions and the most up-to-date review of where the Asian giant stands and the challenges and opportunities for businessmen looking to expand their business with China when others only see growth contraction. Recognized experts, regulators, and strategists, will return to China Leaders Forum 2013 to provide the information practitioners are looking for in an open and unbiased environment, highly conducive to the most efficient and effective networking:
