Future Electronics Promotes Adjustable Current Regulators from Diodes

Pointe Claire, Quebec (realtimepressrelease) March 23, 2016 – Future Electronics, a global leading distributor of electronic components, has announced immediate shipping availability of BCR420U/421U adjustable current regulators from Diodes, to simplify the driving of LED strips.

The BCR420U/BCR421U monolithically integrates a transistor, diodes and resistors to function as a Constant Current Regulator (CCR) for linear LED driving. The device regulates with a preset 10mA nominal that can be adjusted with external resistor up to 350mA. It is designed for driving LEDs in strings and will reduce current at increasing temperatures to self-protect.

Operating as a series linear CCR for LED string current control, it can be used in multiple applications, as long as the maximum supply voltage to the device is <40V.

The BCR420U/BCR421U has an operating junction temperature range of -55°C to +150°C and is AEC-Q101 qualified.

Future Electronics Promotes High Efficiency SOT26 Synchronous DC/DC Buck Converters from Diodes Inc.

Pointe Claire, Quebec (realtimepressrelease) February 1, 2016 – Future Electronics, a global leading distributor of electronic components, recently announced immediate availability of high efficiency SOT26 1.5A/2A synchronous DC/DC buck converters from Diodes Incorporated.

Efficient operation combined with the standard pin-out, space saving SOT26 package are key features of the new 1.5A AP65101 and 2A AP65201 synchronous DC/DC buck converters recently introduced by Diodes Inc.

These synchronous DC/DC buck converters from Diodes Inc. are ideal for consumer electronics, including TVs, set-top boxes, computer monitors and home audio. The devices achieve maximum continuous current efficiencies up to 97% with improved efficiency at lower loads ensured by an automatic light load algorithm.

The AP65101/201 buck converters are designed for low voltage regulation, especially in distributed power architectures, and operate from 4.5V to 16V inputs while delivering adjustable output voltage from 0.8V up to 80% of VIN. A low quiescent supply current and integrated high and low side switches with low RDS(ON) both help to reduce power loss. Protection features such as under-voltage lockout, overcurrent, over-voltage and over-temperature, help prevent damage to downstream components and stress-induced premature component failure. The device enable pin also has a high voltage tolerance of up to 6V.

The high level of integration and minimal need for external components combined with the small-footprint TSOT26 package provide considerable savings in both cost and circuit board space.

Future Electronics Promotes the Self-Protecting MOSFETs from Diodes

Pointe Claire, Quebec (realtimepressrelease) October 29, 2015 – Future Electronics, a global leading distributor of electronic components, promotes the self-protecting MOSFETs from Diodes Incorporated, delivering improved reliability in harsh environment automotive applications.

Power semiconductors such as standard MOSFETs have been proven to be insufficiently rugged for many automotive applications. Inductive spikes and load dumps are transients that require either larger MOSFETs or external clamps to absorb the energy that would otherwise destroy the MOSFET. Both of these options add to the cost and complexity of discrete designs.

Self-protected MOSFETs, as developed by Diodes Incorporated, address this issue with monolithic circuit topologies that incorporate clamping and other protection features to provide a more reliable and lower cost/smaller size solution for driving relays, LEDs and other inductive loads.

To help cope further with transients, self-protected MOSFETs, such as the ZXMS6004FFQ from Diodes Incorporated, utilize a fully protected topology that incorporates over-temperature and overcurrent protection circuits. This device leads the industry by using a small form factor SOT-23 package, 6x smaller than comparable SOT223-packaged parts.

With built-in protection features, self-protected MOSFETs provide a cost effective solution for switching loads in a wide variety of automotive applications.
