Actyl Group Assists Employers After Ban Lifted on TFW Program for Fast Food Restaurants

Company’s team is well trained in the new changes made by Citizenship & Immigration Canada.

REGINA, Saskatchewan (June 22, 2014) — In the wake of a recent overhaul of Canada’s Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP), international workforce solutions firm Actyl Group has trained its staff on all of the new rules and regulations associated with the program.

The broad changes, announced June 20, are intended to prevent abuse and make it more difficult for employers to hire workers from outside the country. As part of these efforts, businesses and organizations in high-unemployment regions will not be allowed to bring in temporary foreign workers, and there will be caps placed on the number of TFWs employers across the country can hire. The ban on TFWs for fast food businesses, however, has been lifted.

“Although these recent changes to the TFWP in Canada will make it more difficult for employers to leverage it, there are still many opportunities to find, recruit and hire skilled workers,” said Linda West, president and CEO of Actyl. “Our firm has been able to project these changes and is ahead of the curve when it comes to the latest updates imposed by the federal government. As a result, our team is very well positioned to help businesses with both domestic and international worker recruitment.”

While the TFWP will still exist, there will also be a new category created called the International Mobility Program. Changes to the overall program include an increase in the number of inspections to 25 percent of all organizations using the TFWP each year. There will also be an increase in the application fee to $1,000 per worker requested, up from $250 previously.

In addition, businesses found to be abusing the program will have to pay a fine of up to $100,000, and the Canada Border Services Agency will receive more funding to pursue criminal investigations against potential abusers. Employers with TFWs on staff will also be listed in public records.

“Because of this recent overhaul, businesses with temporary foreign workers must make sure that they are in full compliance with the law,” said West. “Actyl has been the first recruitment firm to train its staff on these changes, and we know how to effectively and legally help you find and manage the skilled workers who will allow your business grow and thrive.”

Actyl Group Issues Statement on Misquoting and Misrepresentation of Facts in CBC News Story

‘Go Public’ piece included inaccuracies on the work of the firm in recruiting skilled, hard-working international job candidates.

EDMONTON, Alberta, Canada (April 16, 2014) — On April 14, 2014, as part of its “Go Public” series, CBC News published an article and video on the hiring of temporary foreign workers in Canada, specifically in the western provinces. The article detailed alleged accounts of discrimination against Canadian employees in favor of international workers.

In one portion of the article, CBC News’s Kathy Tomlinson reported on Actyl Group‘s role in recruiting international workers, misquoting President and CEO Linda West and including number of inaccuracies. One of the biggest errors was that Actyl does not work with the Victoria company featured in the article.

Actyl Group has issued the following statement from West regarding the article:

“From its inception, Actyl Group has always been a no-fee charging company, which means that employers who use our services pay our recruiting service fees – and no one else. We take great pride in offering life-changing opportunities to people, including both Canadian and international job candidates, as well as helping Canadian businesses grow and hire more skilled employees. We have a wonderful team of professionals who operate with the highest level of integrity that is at the core of everything they do.

Considering this, we were extremely disappointed that Canada’s national public broadcaster, the CBC, would misrepresent facts and misquote me personally, altering the meaning of what I said as I described the work of the Actyl team. The fact remains that we always do our best to recruit Canadian workers first, turning to international candidates when we do not receive an adequate number of applications to fill needed positions. We hope this sets the record straight on our company’s role in helping businesses throughout Canada grow and thrive.”

Actyl Group to Seek Ambitious Workers in Zagreb, Croatia

Company recruits individuals for trade and hospitality jobs in western Canada.

Edmonton, Alberta (November 4, 2013) — Actyl, a leading Canadian workforce solutions firm, will make a special recruiting trip to Zagreb, Croatia to interview candidates to fill more than 400 jobs in the hospitality industry throughout Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia.

The trip, which will take place in mid-November, aims to bring temporary foreign workers (TFOs) into Canada to fill the labor gap that currently exists, particularly in the western part of the country.

“We are very pleased to embark on this trip to Croatia and meet with hard-working and talented candidates who are interested in both a job and a new adventure,” said Dr. Linda West, president of Actyl. “While most of the world has experienced slow economic growth over the past several years, western Canada has been booming thanks largely to oil and gas exploration. As a result, there is a labor shortage in a number of industries, including hospitality. We aim to help fill the gap by finding exceptional temporary foreign workers from Zagreb this month.”

Actyl works with more than 75 employers in Canada and seeks candidates who have experience working in restaurants and the trades. The firm has years of experience finding and recruiting TFOs, which are critical for businesses that need to fill workforce gaps. Individuals who accept jobs in Canada find them to be highly fulfilling, while the chance to travel and live abroad can be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia are somewhat unique in today’s global marketplace, as they represent some of the few places where rapid job growth is evident. Paired with the growing economy is the fact that the region has an aging population, leaving more jobs open than can be filled by its current labor force.

“In many ways, western Canada is still an open frontier, with a wide range of possibilities for entrepreneurial and industrious individuals,” said West. “In many cases, these jobs lead to other great opportunities, so this is a chance you won’t want to pass up. We are looking forward to visiting Croatia and meeting potential candidates from many different backgrounds.”

Actyl officials will be available at the Four Points by Sheraton Panorama Zagreb from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. November 13-18, and will offer free information sessions and interviews. To learn more about this opportunity and to apply for open positions, visit http://www.actyl.com/jobs.

Actyl Group to Help Companies with Latest Changes to AINP

Pilot project allows for increased allocations for foreign workers in the foodservices industry.

Edmonton, AB, Canada (September 17, 2013) — Actyl Group, a leading recruiter for the Canadian labor market, has announced that it will help businesses and organizations make the most out of recent changes to the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP).

The changes, which come as part of the Foodservices Industry Pilot Project, include increasing the foreign worker allocation limit per restaurant location until November 28, 2013. Actyl Group is ready to leverage its expertise in this area to help companies complete the proper documentation to take advantage of the pilot project.

“This is a big opportunity for foodservice companies to find, recruit and hire dependable, skilled foreign workers for their restaurant locations-but you have to act fast,” said Dr. Linda West, president of Actyl Group. “This program is only available until late November, and it takes some time to fill out and submit the necessary paperwork. The team at Actyl Group is happy to assist with this complex process.”

As part of the pilot project, foodservice industry employers may apply for at least one candidate per each restaurant location, and up to 20 percent of the location’s current workforce. For example, if a restaurant currently has 25 employees, it may nominate as many as five foreign workers. If 20 percent of the current workforce results in a partial figure, it will be rounded up to the next highest full number.

The pilot is open to employers that are both new to hiring foreign workers and those that have been approved for AINP in the past, although the positions must be full time and fall under the categories of food and beverage server, food counter attendant or kitchen helper.

In addition to the Foodservices Industry Pilot Project, AINP’s 2013 Hotel and Lodging Additional Allocation Initiative has temporarily removed this year’s per-location allocation limit for front desk clerks, food and beverage servers and room attendants. Until the end of the year, employers may apply for as many foreign candidates as they need in these three areas.

“The labor shortage in western Canada has many employers looking to other countries to fill needed positions,” said West. “This is a great effort being made through AINP, and one that will help boost the economy of Alberta and the rest of the country.”

Actyl Group Makes Third Trip to Belize to Recruit Workers

Company seeks to find workers to fill western Canada labor shortage.

Regina, SK, Canada (April 3, 2013) — Actyl Group, a leading international recruiting firm, will once again return to Belize in an effort to find more skilled workers to fill the current labor shortage in western Canada.

During the trip, which will be the company’s third in just four months, Actyl Group representatives will interview people trained in a number of areas. The company is looking for people to fill key positions throughout the provinces of Saskatchewan and Alberta, and plans on making nearly 100 new job offers in April alone.

“We have had great success finding outstanding workers in Belize since we started recruiting in this area, but Saskatchewan, Alberta and the rest of the Western Canada region continue to see major labor shortages,” said Adrian Schulz of Actyl Group. “The people we have met on our trips so far have been exceptional candidates, with great English, from hospitality to skilled trades. We look forward to meeting more potential workers as we again head to Central America.”

As a result of its previous trips to Belize, the Actyl Group made more than 70 job offers, with many of these candidates already about to start their new lives. “It is such an honor to be selected by an Employer in Canada – it will be an adventure. I very much appreciate Actyl for helping me get this opportunity and for supporting me every step of the way” says candidate Stacy Ramos of Belize. Western Canada’s labor shortage stems from the fact that the region experienced slow economic growth until about 2007, and many of its young people left for opportunities in other parts of the country. Over the past five years, however, the region has seen a tremendous amount of economic growth, spurring the need to bring in more workers to fill critical positions.

During its April trip, Actyl Group will particularly be looking for welders, heavy-duty mechanics, ironworkers, sheet metal workers, fabricators, machinists, geomembrane installers, commercial steel framers, flat roofers, small engine repair specialists, automotive technicians and plasterers. One employer also featured will be franchised McDonald’s Restaurants, which was recently named one of Canada’s Top 5 Best Employers for the ninth time.

“There are numerous top employers looking for workers who will bring a great work ethic and dependable skills to these positions, and we haven’t been let down yet when meeting with candidates in Belize,” said Schulz. “If you would like to explore the opportunities provided by western Canada’s recent economic growth, we invite you to meet with our team.”

Actyl Group will be at 19 Barbados Street in the City of Belmopan April 8-11, 2013, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. The sessions are free, and potential candidates should bring a copy of their resumes, passports and any diplomas or certificates. To learn more, visit http://www.actyl.com/belize.
