HOUSTON, TX – JANUARY 10, 2011 – The Pine Forest Country Club set the goal of raising enough money to grant one local child’s wish. The average cost of a wish for the local chapter is $6,000. Pine Forest Country Club’s success in raising $6,300 will fund 11-year-old Blake’s wish to travel to Italy. Blake was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, bone cancer. Donations cover the cost of the trip and related expenses for Blake and his family. Unused funds will help fund other children’s wishes.
Pine Forest Country Club members enjoyed a fun-filled day of train rides, carnival rides, games, crafts, rock climbing, music and delicious food. Members also took shots at drenching their favorite board or staff member in the dunking booth. The night ended with several fun rounds of bingo.
“Caring people in the community make it possible for us to give kids like Blake the joy of a wish experience,” said Teri Andrepont, president and CEO of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Texas Gulf Coast & Louisiana. “Thanks to Pine Forest Country Club, Blake and his family will enjoy some valuable time together free from the worries of dealing with his illness.”
