The loan advice firm has just agreed a scheme to restructure its debt after being declared in default by the FSCS because it is unable to pay compensation claims against it in relation to payment protection insurance sales.

Customers who took out a PPI policy with Welcome on or after 14th January in 2005 are eligible to claim.

As part of the agreement the firm will pay expenses to the FSCS to help fund the compensation pay-outs. A spokesperson from the FSCS has confirmed £50 million has already been given and a further £40 million is due to be handed over.
