Leading UK Web Hosting Provider NuBlue has announced that is has joined RIPE NCC, the European Internet Registry. RIPE provide Internet resource allocations, registration services and co-ordination activities, supporting the global operation of the Internet.

This membership marks a move to become more independent of their UK data centre infrastructure, and is in preparation for their work to get ready for IPv6. As part of the membership, NuBlue will be allocated its own range of IPv4 and IPv6 addresses.

As a member, NuBlue will be able to control and develop its own Internet infrastructure and connectivity to meet the growing demand from businesses for its services. The company has seen a dramatic growth in sales since 2005 and despite the economic downturn, it continues to grow year on year.

Tom Ashworth, Technical Director of NuBlue, said: “As a rapidly expanding UK host, we have reached the point where we need absolute control of our network. Even though we are a hosting company rather than an ISP, we feel that in order to continue offering an award winning service to our clients we must have control of our own IP addresses. This will also help in our ongoing preparations for IPv6.”

The network upgrade to be IPv6 compatible will take place gradually over the coming month to ensure no disruption to its clients in the future. Existing customers will need to be moved onto new IP addresses in time but will be notified in advance of any scheduled disruption. New customers will be automatically placed on IP addresses from their own allocated pool.
