AND Solutions Forms Swindon Alliance With Juniper Innovations

Swindon, Wiltshire, AND Solutions, Technical Writing specialists have formed an alliance with Supply Chain technology consultancy, Juniper Innovations, to help provide clients with greater supply chain control as well as user friendly documents for internal processes and training.

Simon Butler, Managing Director of AND Solutions explains “Juniper Innovations have range of off the shelf software and tracking hardware devices from warehouse systems, RFID software and forensic level tracking solutions, GPS trailer tracking and temperature monitoring devices, through to bespoke solutions from GPS/GSM hardware tracking units to website and backend office software.  Any business change such as the introduction of new technology benefits from well written, user friendly, client specific product support documentation so that company personnel understand how to use technology within their own environment, have quality assistance when they encounter difficulties, have higher technology adoption rates, use more features and functions that the technology brings and reduce time resolving questions they have.”

Richard Knight from Juniper Innovations continues “the alliance is strong because AND Solutions have Technical Writing and IT business analysis skills in the core sectors we work in, for example manufacturing and logistics. They have worked with companies such as Maersk Sealand, Motorola, Boots plc and Huawei Technologies.  This helps us all to understand client problems faster and help put the best and highest quality solutions together more effectively.”

Having practical solutions in areas such as manufacturing, pharmaceutical and logistics industries is important because of the criticality of time, cost and quality.  For AND Solutions this means not only helping put Juniper Innovations’ technology solutions in place, but also helping an organisation’s personnel adopt them faster and get more from them.  Simon Butler elaborates “sometimes this means writing documentation in a style and language that local people can quickly grasp using site specific terminology, or it could mean using a variety of communication methods from online help, printed brochures and procedures or quick reference guides.  Plus well written documentation also enables the development of a well structured training package, providing better trained staff able to support the products to the best advantage of the company and that of the end user.  The bottom line is both the technology and local user documentation will help people perform more effectively and use technology intuitively.”

The resulting aim for the alliance is to help supply chains gain greater control through cost management and reduction, quality improvements and being more productive and efficient.  Both businesses have offices in Swindon, but support client projects in the UK and throughout Europe.  Additionally, between them they have support offices in Europe, China and the United States allowing greater client support around the world.

Help Required For Supply Chain & Retail, RFID & Carbon Emissions Reduction Project

Swindon, Wiltshire, Juniper Innovations are supporting ISRetail on a project with The Supply Chain Carbon Council, Avery Dennison, NXP and Nordic ID amongst others and request help from manufacturers and retailers.

To help carbon emission innovation, ISRetail, a leading supply chain software, warehouse management and RFID system solution and data management provider is working on a carbon emissions reduction project with the European Supply Chain Institute (ESCI) ‘Supply Chain Carbon Council’.

The projects aims to:

  1. Promote the application of RFID to the problem of tracking Carbon Emissions through the supply chain at product level
  2. Address how, with an NFC Device, to make this information available to the consumer in order that they can make sustainable purchasing decisions.

With project partners now on board, ISRetail is looking for help from retail product manufacturers and retailers to participate in the project.

John Connors from the Supply Chain Carbon Council comments “in the relatively near future you or I should be able to go to our local store and scan the RFID Carbon Label on the product with an NFC Device to get its environmental impact data and use this information to see whether it is environmentally friendly or not. In the end it will be the consumer who is the final decision maker as to whether the product is green or not.

When the consumer scans the product the NFC reader will communicate with the master data over the mobile network and receive an sms giving the information requested. This type of value added application for NFC will really bring the technology away from the traditional focuses on payment and ticketing.”

John Connors continues “we know that technically this application has no major barriers. Equally all retailers and manufacturers will also see the positives in terms of their Green product Labelling and NFC based loyalty schemes.”

Any retail product manufacturer or retailer interested in participating in the project can contact Richard Knight by filling in the contact form on the Juniper Innovations website here http://www.juniperinnovations.co.uk/contact

Juniper Innovations Launch Specialist Lone Worker Devices

Swindon, Wiltshire February 09, 2011, Employers have a duty of care to ensure their employees are safe from harm and are supported when working alone and away from their employer’s place of work.  To help meet the obligations Juniper Innovations have launched a state of the art, portable lone worker device.

The device looks like a mobile phone and can be carried by lone workers, allowing them to make calls or alert help if they require it.  With panic alarm, man down motion detector e.g. if a lone worker has had a fall and pin point outdoor and indoor tracking features it is suitable for a wide range of workers.  In addition for extra protection, by discretely pressing a button the device can silently monitor conversations the lone worker has when in a threatening situation.  It also integrates up to five communication options, including text messaging, system-wide IEEE 802.15.4 for communication with a keyfob/internal building tracking, Bluetooth for hands free communication, and ANT (*) for heart rate monitoring.  Additionally the portable device is IP65 rated for use outdoors.

The device links to Juniper Innovations’ tracking software, which enables real time reporting of GPS signals and other alert information that can be automatically text or emailed to preconfigured numbers and email addresses.  So for example, managers and colleagues know in real time from the software when a lone worker has strayed into certain areas at specified times of the day and night, when they weren’t planning to do so.  The device and software can also produce timesheet information to improve future planning and reduce administration.

The lone worker device and software is aimed at a wide range of personnel from field technicians and hospital workers to community care workers, teaching staff, maintenance technicians, garage forecourt and retail personnel.  More information including a technical specification can be found on Juniper Innovations’ website at http://juniperinnovations.co.uk/lone-worker-tracking
