Robert Miller, President of Future Electronics Speaks About Eco-Friendly Inventory Exchange Program

Pointe Claire, Quebec (realtimepressrelease) October 30, 2015 – Future Electronics, a leading global electronics component manufacturer, continues seeing great success with its Inventory Exchange Program, an innovative, eco-friendly effort launched several years ago by Robert Miller, President of Future Electronics in Montreal, Quebec.

“Participating members provide Future Electronics with a current list of their component inventory. When there is excess availability of larger quantities of individual device types, Future Electronics implements its “Stop Manufacturing” process, whereby suppliers agree to stop manufacturing a particular component, in order to allow the real-world demand to catch up with real-world supply. Future Electronics then contacts participating customers with ongoing demand for the current inventory of other program members,” explains Robert Miller, President of Future Electronics.

Not only is the program environmentally conscientious, it also benefits customers. All customers face excess inventory and obsolete product sooner or later. The IEP, developed by the company’s president and founder, Robert Miller, can bring tremendous value to customers by helping them through these challenges.

Robert Miller adds, “Every year, more than $20 billion of inventory rots on a shelf somewhere and never gets used, usually because some company made more of it than they could sell or because somebody bought more than they needed. But typically, about $12 billion of that $20 billion in inventory are standard parts that someone else needs and can use.”

Miller continued, “This isn’t just bad for business, it’s bad for the environment. At Future Electronics, we help reduce waste while also helping suppliers and customers, by matching people with product, at current market price. This one-of-a-kind program was created by and is available only through Future Electronics.”

One example of how the Inventory Exchange Program works is when one of the company’s customers in Seattle was using an image sensor on a legacy design that had become obsolete. They were having serious challenges locating product. As luck would have it, a smart phone manufacturer had some excess inventory on this module. Future Electronics was able to connect the two parties and leverage our relationship to facilitate the sale of the product. The customer with the excess product was able to move their product and was pleased to receive the same amount that they had originally paid for the parts.

Through the Inventory Exchange Program, Future Electronics has visibility to billions of dollars worth of available-to-sell product, typically not visible to the market. The company shares visibility of this inventory to customers through a special website specifically for IEP products, and this inventory is also visible to the entire Future team worldwide through a globally integrated online dashboard.

Future Electronics Promotes the Self-Protecting MOSFETs from Diodes

Pointe Claire, Quebec (realtimepressrelease) October 29, 2015 – Future Electronics, a global leading distributor of electronic components, promotes the self-protecting MOSFETs from Diodes Incorporated, delivering improved reliability in harsh environment automotive applications.

Power semiconductors such as standard MOSFETs have been proven to be insufficiently rugged for many automotive applications. Inductive spikes and load dumps are transients that require either larger MOSFETs or external clamps to absorb the energy that would otherwise destroy the MOSFET. Both of these options add to the cost and complexity of discrete designs.

Self-protected MOSFETs, as developed by Diodes Incorporated, address this issue with monolithic circuit topologies that incorporate clamping and other protection features to provide a more reliable and lower cost/smaller size solution for driving relays, LEDs and other inductive loads.

To help cope further with transients, self-protected MOSFETs, such as the ZXMS6004FFQ from Diodes Incorporated, utilize a fully protected topology that incorporates over-temperature and overcurrent protection circuits. This device leads the industry by using a small form factor SOT-23 package, 6x smaller than comparable SOT223-packaged parts.

With built-in protection features, self-protected MOSFETs provide a cost effective solution for switching loads in a wide variety of automotive applications.

Future Electronics Promotes Yageo’s Automotive Product Family

Pointe Claire, Quebec (realtimepressrelease) October 21, 2015 – Future Electronics, a global leading distributor of electronic components, promotes Yageo’s automotive product family.

Yageo has introduced automotive grade MLCCs in two temperature characteristics: NPO and X7R. The AC Automotive series features excellent long term reliability and improved mechanical properties. As a discrete part or within an array, this series covers the products required within infotainment and comfort and convenience applications.

For the majority of automotive applications, the workhorse solution has been the standard AC series of chip resistors thick film technology. Only a specially designed solution manufactured using selected materials can meet the needs of harsh environmental conditions in safety systems where sulfur may be a challenge. Yageo’s AA chip resistor series high precision resistors work under humid conditions and meet unsurpassed reliability standards. Thin film AT series resistors from Yageo are the perfect choice for circuitry in power steering, instrument clusters, ECU, and ABS.

Applications for these Yageo products include automotive electronics, industrial and medical equipment, test and measuring equipment, and telecommunications.

As fast as lightning: The new weather sensor with lightning detection

Fellbach, Baden-Wurttemberg (realtimepressrelease) October 14, 2015 – Up to now, there was little evidence to prove that damage or fires were caused by lightning. Lightning strikes cannot only cause dangerous fires but can also give rise to great financial losses in the case of surge damage. This is especially critical for smart grids, solar panels and wind turbines, but also for building insurance, outdoor-events and the forestry sector. “WS800”, the new compact weather sensor from Lufft – the measurement technology producer from Fellbach – provides a solution.

The new member of the Lufft weather sensor family allows the precise reconstruction of the location where and the times at which such acts of nature occurred. The device also detects many other environmental parameters, which, for example, are relevant to the monitoring of power plants, buildings or forest stocks.

Optically, there is no difference from the WS700 all-in-one weather sensor, which has been available since September 2014. This is because the new lighting detector is small enough to fit into the existing housing of the WS700-UMB. In addition to lightning detection, therefore, the WS800 also covers the same environmental parameters as its “big brother”. These are ambient temperature, relative humidity, barometric pressure, wind speed and direction, rainfall intensity and volume as well as global radiation. Thus, eight individual sensors are packed into the smart “all-in-one” device.

For connecting to a new or existing measurement network, a single cable suffices. This saves customers valuable time during installation and maintenance. The innovative environmental sensor communicates with the standard protocols UMB-ASCII, UMB-Binary, SDI-12 and MOD-BUS as well as with analog outputs in combination with the DACON converter. Hence it is easy to integrate into new and existing measurement networks.

The new module of the WS800 detects the radiated electromagnetic waves of a thunderbolt. By way of appropriate algorithms and filters it reliably detects the lightning discharges. Extensive tests with lighting simulators performed by Lufft engineers in the laboratory and in the field confirmed, among other results, the sensor’s resistance against electromagnetic radiation, which occurs on high speed train rails, for example.

Lufft will present the new all-in-one sensor for the first time at this year’s Meteorological Technology World Expo in Brussels. The exhibition takes place from 13 to 15 October 2015. Further information can be found on the Lufft website under: www.lufft.com
