Future Electronics Promotes the Best Dropout and Transient Performance LDO Regulators from Intersil

Pointe Claire, Quebec (realtimepressrelease) November 24, 2015 – Future Electronics, a global leading distributor of electronic components, recently announced the company has immediate shipping availability of Intersil’s ISL80510/05 LDO regulators, providing best in class dropout and transient performance.

The ISL80510 and ISL80505 deliver 1A and 0.5A of continuous output current and ultra-low dropout of 130mV and 45mV at full load, respectively. The ISL80510/05 LDOs also provide better transient performance with peak-to-peak excursions up to nine times lower than competitive LDOs.

This transient performance level and DC accuracy of 1.8% safeguards against voltage undershoots and overshoots to deliver clean point-of-load voltage to CPUs, DSPs and MCUs, which require tight voltage accuracy and low noise.

The ISL80510/05’s compensation loop provides excellent noise filtering by maintaining a flat power supply rejection ratio (PSRR) response over a wide range of frequencies.

Features of these LDO regulators from Intersil include: ±1.8% VOUT accuracy guaranteed over line, load and TJ = -40°C to +125°C; stable with a 4.7μF output ceramic capacitor; programmable output soft start time; current limit protection; thermal shutdown function; very low dropout voltage; very fast transient response; excellent PSRR over wide frequency range; and are available in an 8 Ld DFN package.

Robert Miller, President of Future Electronics, Saves Customers Money with Supply Chain Solutions

Pointe Claire, Quebec (realtimepressrelease) November 24, 2015 – Robert Miller, President of Future Electronics, a global leading distributor of electronic components, is focused on helping customers set new trends and save money with strategic supply chain solutions.

Moving manufacturing off-shore has been a trend for many years in the electronics industry. Production has moved to low cost manufacturing areas around the world, including Mexico, Eastern Europe, China and Southeast Asia to name a few.

But there is a new trend of keeping or returning manufacturing to the Americas. Known as re-shoring, the trend has begun as companies look at their total costs of production, including the cost of managing the program, the challenges of communication, the risks to supply chain and product integrity, and the risk of stolen intellectual property. However in order to manufacture in the Americas and be competitive, customers must find ways to save money and make local production more affordable than using overseas options.

This is where the Future Electronics Strategic Supply Chain Solutions team can help. Often the savings from improving a customer’s supply chain can be enough to make the total cost of manufacturing less than an overseas solution. These savings include having less money tied up in inventory, speeding up time to market, reducing obsolete and excess inventory and guaranteeing supply and therefore improving the efficiency of their manufacturing facility.

Future Electronics can bring value to a customer beyond delivering parts, by fundamentally improving a customer’s business.

Pointe Claire, Quebec (realtimepressrelease) November 20, 2015 – Future Electronics, a global leading distributor of electronic components, with corporate headquarters in Montreal, Quebec, has one of its distribution facilities in the United States, located near Memphis, Tennessee.

Future Electronics’ Memphis Area Distribution Center boasts the most advanced state-of-the-art technology in the industry, and is a source of pride for the company and its president, Robert Miller.

Lufft wins innovation award of Baden-Württemberg

Fellbach, Baden-Wurttemberg (realtimepressrelease) November 17, 2015 – The measurement and control technology company Lufft was selected as one winner of the “Dr. Rudolf Eberle Prize” at “Haus der Wirtschaft” in Stuttgart. The award includes prize money of 10.000 Euros. With the innovation of its new mobile road sensor MARWIS, the company from Fellbach triumphed over a field of 77 competitors. Peter Hofelich, the state secretary of the Ministry of Finance in Baden-Wurttemberg, presented the prize to Lufft managing directors Klaus Hirzel and Axel Schmitz-Hubsch. Since 1985, the Baden-Wurttemberg innovation award has celebrated medium-sized companies in the region who have developed outstanding technological innovations in the fields of industry, trade, and technological services.

At the prize ceremony, Lufft manager Klaus Hirzel explained: “Being inaugurated into the line of exceptional and creative developers in this state with this award fills us all with pride. The MARWIS sensor is a result of exceptional engineering expertise and a business plan focused on innovation rather than turnover. In doing so, we followed our credo: global thinking, advanced development, punctual and error-free availability.” Lufft is going to invest the prize money in the research and development of innovative future projects.

The innovative road sensor MARWIS impressed the 12 members of the expert jury, who are elected by the Ministry of Finance from the fields of business and technology. The mobile sensor was introduced in 2014 and is a road weather information sensor that detects road conditions and environmental data reliably. Installed on vehicles, MARWIS records data in real time and straight from the car.

Besides road surfaces (dry, humid, frozen, snow-capped and critically or chemically wet), the sensor records data such as road surface temperature, water film height, dew point temperature, ice friction, and humidity. In doing so, the sensor increases road safety, offers evidence in the case of traffic accidents, aids route planning, and enhances the efficiency of winter service.

Latter will be investigated more precisely. The wholly Lufft owned subsidiary MICKS MSR GmbH which is specialized on meteorological all-in-one systems in the field of transport, received the order to be part of a leading-edge project of the Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt). The order serves the research and development of a distance-based prediction of slippery roads and thus the advancement of the winter road maintenance. In the course of this, the award-winning MARWIS sensor goes into action for the qualification of the data models. More information about the digital test field at the A9 at: http://bit.ly/1MrVa4q.

Robert Miller, President of Future Electronics, Reinforces Strong Focus on Microcontrollers

Pointe Claire, Quebec (realtimepressrelease) November 13, 2015 – Robert Miller, President of Fture Electronics, a global leading distributor of electronic components, continues to place strong emphasis on the company’s focus on microcontrollers.

Future Electronics prides itself on its expertise in the field of microcontrollers. Todd Baker, Corporate Vice President, who works closely with Robert Miller, President of Future Electronics, recently wrote an article explaining what microcontrollers are and what they do, which was recently featured in the company’s magazine. An abridged version of the article follows herein.

For decades, 8-bit MCU architectures were the embedded system architecture of choice and absolutely dominated the worldwide market share. They were the simplest to design with, lowest power consuming, and cheapest to manufacture, which made them perfect for the high volume industrial and commercial applications of the past. Over the last few years that has drastically changed, and new processor core designs, along with smaller silicon manufacturing capabilities, have led to a great shift towards 32-bit MCU architectures. These more advanced architectures are now capable of the same higher performance they’ve always had, with much lower power consumption and price points than were formerly possible.

Approximately 80% of an embedded project’s design time is spent on writing firmware for the MCU. The MCU is almost always the first part selected on a design and it will set the course for every capacitor, voltage regulator, PHY and connector that the design will need.

Future Electronics’ Advanced Engineers help educate and support customers during this long MCU selection process. While the customer is focused on code and is calling the AE to ask for assistance with MCU bugs, the AE is able to monitor the design and recommend regulators, connectors, and other components that the engineer hasn’t even considered yet.

The Advanced Engineering Group has the know-how and the passion to be the point people in the market for our sales team and our suppliers. Our network of leading supplier partners gives us a wide product offering and the expertise to support customers.
