Launched in 2007, Get Licensed is the brainchild of Madiha Adil, a graduate in Human Resources and Employment Relations and her husband Shahzad Ali, a former employee of G4S. Starting from small office based in Mill Hill, offering training for individuals pursuing an SIA licence, within three years, Get Licensed has grown to be the largest single provider of security training courses in the UK, with 12,000 graduates a year. The success can only be attributed to the vision of its founders, the professional training programmes on offer, and their continuous expansion through the addition of new training courses each year.

Gap in Market

When the Security Industry Authority was introduced in 2003 to regulate the industry in accordance with the Private Security act 2001, the SIA license was launched as a means of monitoring the standards of the private security industry. This called for many more accredited training companies to train and help develop a sound, professional industry. Recognising this, Shahzad Ali and his wife Madiha conceived the company Get Licensed with a commitment to be part of the process that raised standards in the security industry and build an industry that is professional and respected.

Following the criteria set by SIA on the various security courses, Get Licensed went about recruiting the right trainers for the job, a task undertaken by Madiha with her vast experience in the field of recruitment. Shahzad’s knowledge and experience from his years with Securicor now G4S, one of the UK’s leading private security providers was invaluable. What a winning combination. Starting with just one course in 2007, the basic Door Supervisor Course, three years on, Get Licensed offers 10 different training courses and now has three other regional offices, in Leeds, Manchester and West London.

“If standards in the private security industry are to be raised, then the courses have to be delivered to the highest standard and syllabus covering all aspects of the role. Our courses cover all the modules specified by SIA with the best trainers in the field of expertise. Our rigorous training standards and final assessment at the end, means that companies who employ our graduates can be assured that they have excelled in all aspects of the syllabus,” said Shahzad Ali.

“We take pride in the professional team we employ. All hold the required teaching qualifications, the PTTLS 7303 and 1886 Conflict Management as well as the recently introduced Physical Intervention Trainer Certificate. All have years of experience working and excelling in their respective fields,” said Madiha Adil.
