Power Summit 2011 to being tomorrow, March 1, 2011

February 28, 2011, Washington DC: The Commonwealth Business Council’s (CBC) 2011 Power Summit will begin tomorrow, March 1, 2011 at the Royal Commonwealth Society, London. The two day Summit will provide government and private sector representatives a platform to deliberate on the investment opportunities, growth and challenges in the energy sector. The Alliance for US India Business (AUSIB) has partnered with CBC for this Summit.

Speakers representing various countries and corporations across continents will be present at the 2011 Power Summit. Some of the speakers include Mr. Muhammad Enamul Huq MP (State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, People’s Republic of Bangladesh), Mr. Sushilkumar Shinde (Union Minister of Power, Government of India), Dr Jayatissa de Costa (Chairman, Public Utility Commission of Sri Lanka), Dr Eng Frank B Sebbowa (CEO, Electricity Regulatory Authority, Uganda) and Mr Joe Adir (CEO, Windsolare) among others.

The CBC Summit will give Governments of developing as well as developed countries, the opportunity to outline their future energy requirements and strategies to the representatives of international private sector solution providers, financiers and investors. It will also give the service providers and cutting-edge technology developers the opportunity to showcase their expertise. Delegates from across continents will participate in country specific presentations, technology focused sessions and expert panel discussions along with presentations from the Energy Ministers of different countries.

AUSIB welcomes India’s growth oriented 2011 Union Budget.

March 1, 2011, Washington DC: The Alliance for US India Business (AUSIB) welcomes India’s Union Budget for FY 2011-12, and rates it as a very investor friendly budget that could help attract more investments into India.

Sanjay Puri, AUSIB President said, “We are very happy that this budget is high on foreign investments and it has opened doors for investments in infrastructure and equity mutual funds. We look forward to working with India and US companies on utilizing this opportunity and playing our part in the Indian growth story.”

The 2011 Budget will allow foreign investors to invest in infrastructure bonds and also equity mutual funds. This could be very attractive to foreign investors, as also Indian asset management companies who can expect to see a widening of scope of investors in India. The Budget focuses on improving the basic drivers of economic growth such as education, infrastructure and agriculture. It has also tried to keep the fiscal and budgetary deficits under control, which will be important in the long-term growth of the country.

Third Future of Financial Markets (FOFM) Leadership Summit will be held at Mumbai, India from January 20 to January 22, 2011

January 19, 2011, Washington DC: The third annual Future of Financial Markets (FOFM) Leadership Summit will be held from Thursday, January 20 to Saturday, January 22 at the Renaissance Mumbai Convention Center, Powai, Mumbai, India. The Alliance for US India Business (AUSIB) has partnered with FOFM for the event and brings U.S. Congressman Curt Weldon as a keynote speaker during the three day Summit.

The theme for this year’s event is “Empowering Lives. Transforming Economies” and will discuss the growth drivers for emerging economies in redefining the international financial landscape. The Summit will include keynote addresses, panel discussions and presentations by renowned experts who will discuss financial market reforms, commodity market reforms, role of new generation markets in achieving financial inclusion among other topics. The 2010 FOFM Summit saw 200 thought leaders including 65 eminent speakers participate and discuss about ‘Driving Financial Inclusion and Equitable Growth.’

Some of the prominent speakers at FOFM 2011 include Ang Swee Tian (Chairman, Singapore Mercantile Exchange), Arshad Khan (MD, CEO, Bahrain Financial Exchange), Rundheersing Bheenick (Governor, Bank of Mauritius), and Kiran Karnik (Former President & Chairman, NASSCOM).

AUSIB concludes a successful delegation of the US’ National Foundation for Women Legislators (NFWL) to India

January 20, 2011, Washington DC: The Alliance for US India Business (AUSIB) announces the successful completion of its National Foundation for Women Legislators (NFWL) delegation to India. The nine member delegation was in India from January 09 to January 15, 2011 and participated in the Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2011 on January 12 and 13, 2011 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India.

AUSIB President, Mr. Sanjay Puri, expressed satisfaction at the outcome of the delegation and said, “The delegation exposed the NFWL delegates to the huge opportunity that the Indian market presents. They discussed the growth in Indian and U.S. markets during their various meetings, and AUSIB will now assist them in entering into MoUs with companies in both the countries. With every delegation we bring, our aim is to strengthen trade relations between India and the U.S, and the NFWL delegation has been another step forward.” He also said that AUSIB will work with the delegation on organizing student exchange programs that will further educational ties between U.S. and Indian universities.

The NFWL delegation met with various business leaders of India including those from Mahindra & Mahindra, Mahindra Satyam, Financial Technologies India Pvt. Ltd and the National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM). They also conducted meeting with policy leaders and government officials such as the former Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra and current Cabinet Minister for PWD and Tourism, Mr. Chaggan Bhujbal; the Minister for Home (Urban & Rural) Development, Food & Drug Administration, Mr Satjes Patil, the Chief Minister of New Delhi, Smt. Sheila Dixit; Chief Minister of Gujarat, Mr. Narendra Modi; Cabinet Minister for Cultural Affairs Mr Harshawardhan Patil; the Minister for Education Mr Kapil Sibal  and other prominent Members of Parliament.

AUSIB collaborates with Exhibitions India Group for Delhi International Renewable Energy Conference (DIREC) 2010

August 30, 2010, Washington D.C.: The Alliance for U.S. India Business (AUSIB) and Exhibitions India Group have agreed to work together for the upcoming Delhi International Renewable Energy Conference (DIREC) 2010. DIREC 2010 will be held in Delhi, India from 27-29 October, 2010 at the India Expo Center.

DIREC 2010 will be hosted by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, India. DIREC 2010 is a part of the series of the International Renewable Energy Conferences previously held in Washington in 2008 (WIREC), Beijing in 2005 and Bonn in 2004. With over 7000-9000 participants, 250 speakers and 600 exhibitors from 40 countries, DIREC 2010 would be an international platform for government, private sector, and civil society leaders to jointly address the goal of advancing renewable energy.

AUSIB and American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) sign MoU

September 2, 2010, Washington D.C.:

The Alliance for U.S. India Business (AUSIB) and American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding on August 31, 2010. The two will initially partner for the upcoming Delhi International Renewable Energy Conference (DIREC) 2010 to be held in October in Delhi, India.

ACORE is non-profit organization that works to bring renewable energy, in all its forms, into the mainstream of American economy and lifestyle. With a focus on trade, finance and policy, ACORE is dedicated to building a sustainable and independent energy future for the U.S.

Gujarat Delegation to visit USA in preparation of the Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2011

August 30, 2010, Washington, D.C: A high-level delegation consisting of government and corporate leaders shall visit the East Coast on Sept. 10-18, 2010 as part of the preparation for the Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2011. The Alliance for US India Business (AUSIB) shall assist the delegation in establishing contacts with representatives from various industry sectors during their visit to the U.S.
