Phorego is Launching a Global Social Transportation Network

In addition to public and private transportation, Phorego is building a new genre: Social Transportation. While public transportation is inflexible and private transportation is costly, social transportation will be fast, flexible and inexpensive or free.

The vision is big and the time is right: With slow economy and high gas prices, people wants to save money or generate new revenues. Ridesharing/Carpooling is supposed to be one solution. But current products/services in the market have not been able to address this, because many are inter-city oriented, or don’t have real-time active matching, or operate like a taxi/shuttle service, or mandate a fare and charge a fee. The end result is that the vision is still just a vision.

Convenience and ease of use is the key: Phorego delivers real-time matches to your e-mail or phone with continuous status updates; its street-level matching engine is primed for ad-hoc intra-city use. Safety is another: Phorego lets corporations, universities, governments and communities create and operate their own rideshare groups. Even the general public can do so to improve the safety factor.

Why not pick up your neighbors and get to work in 1 shared vehicle instead of 3 individually? On your way to pick up your uncle at the airport, may be you can give another arriving passenger a ride? How about those working late one night and need to get back home? The college students who want to go back home on holidays? The guys who have too much drinks in the bar at 3 o’clock in the morning? The use of social transportation is endless. Sharing vehicles let riders save time and money while drivers make some extra cash. Roads will be less congested and even the environment wins.

Currently the service is available in USA/Canada on PCs and MACs. Mobile versions are coming starting January 2013. Multi-language (French, German, Italian and Spanish, Chinese) version will be available when the service expands into Europe in 1st quarter of 2013.

As a promotion for this launch, Phorego is offering corporations, universities and communities to create their own rideshare groups for free. Start one now before it expires.

About Phorego
Phorego (fôr’i-gö) originates from the word phoresy (fôr’i-se), which is a term used to describe ‘a relationship between two organisms in nature in which one gives the other a ride’; like remoras and sharks, or fungi and bark beetles. Phorego’s vision is to transform commuting, travelling, carpooling, ridesharing into a new transportation genre: social transportation, and build a global social transportation ecosystem.

A few friends heard about our novel idea and invested some money so that ExpatOdyssey.com could be shared with everyone out there. From that point onwards, we knew that our decision for all members to have the opportunity to get or earn Free WEsharesTMor invest, was the right one.”

SearchCatalyst Highlights Why Duplicate Web Content is Bad for Small Businesses

Duplicate web page content is bad for any website because it greatly affects SEO, but SearchCatalyst, an SEO agency dealing exclusively in small business Internet marketing, says it is particularly bad news for small businesses.

Aside from negatively impacting on a user’s online experience, duplicate content is particularly disastrous for SEO. It affects the site’s credibility, which is one of the most important ways a site can rank highly, organically, on search engines like Google. Google ranks sites based on several criteria, each of which is built into its complicated search algorithm. Relevancy is the most important – does the site list content relevant to the search query? – but credibility is a close second.

However, this issue affects all businesses, big and small. An issue that is more likely to affect small businesses, or expanding ones in the processes of upgrading their websites and online presence comes down to duplicate content on developer sites. Quite often web developer domains – where developers work on websites – are indexed by Google. Developers can be completely unaware they have created duplicate content but as websites take a few months to develop they can sit on developer domains for a while and the duplicate pages will negatively affect search rankings on Google.

This generally impacts small businesses to a greater extent than larger companies because they don’t have the scope and finances to implement new pages quickly.

Google’s algorithms are highly sophisticated and can filter out sites that have duplicate content. Some may be labelled as spam as a result, whilst others will just be listed much lower down on the SERPs. Google has become much better at detecting duplicate content since the Panda algorithm update, which all small businesses and developers should be aware of.

SearchCatalyst offers affordable SEO services to small businesses looking to boost organic search rankings and gain greater online exposure at minimal cost.

SportsMark selects WinMagic Encryption technology to protect critical data at London 2012 Olympic Games

WinMagic Inc., the global innovator in disk encryption, today announced SportsMark has chosen WinMagic’s SecureDoc data security and encryption software to protect sensitive corporate hospitality program data for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Of the many events SportsMark will be involved in this year, including Super Bowl, The Masters, and the America’s Cup World Series, the London 2012 Olympic Games will be a pinnacle event. SportsMark has been preparing for this momentous event for over four years, working side by side with its clients to create unparalleled guest experiences and optimize their brand building and sales objectives. SportsMark’s clients will host more than 45,000 guests throughout the Olympic and Paralympic Games, working with a staff of over 1,000 and managing tens of thousands of Olympic event tickets on behalf of their 15 clients.

“We’ve been working with SportsMark for quite some time and we’re very pleased that they selected SecureDoc as their data encryption solution to protect the personal information of all the guests they’ll be hosting during the London 2012 Olympic Games,” said Mark Hickman, worldwide vice-president of sales at WinMagic Inc. “As an existing customer, SportsMark recognized the ease of use and flexibility of SecureDoc and we were more than happy to help ensure this continued for a project of this importance and profile.”

SportsMark’s information services team determined that they required a rapid OS and encryption deployment ready for a highly mobile and diverse workforce to securing log in onto any of their laptops at any of the locations.

“WinMagic SecureDoc was clearly the answer to our requirements,” said Scott Shuemake, systems engineer at SportsMark. “We needed an encryption solution that we could quickly and easily implement, manage centrally and provide all temporary staff with access to all the devices, so we had the flexibility to move staff around the hospitality venues across London, sometimes at short notice.”

SportsMark Group has contracted 1000 temporary hospitality event staff to work for the duration of Olympic and Paralympic Games in more than 15 pop-up offices around central London. These staff will be supplied with rented laptops that require the hard drive to be fully encrypted.

The technical solution consisted of 300 temporary licenses of WinMagic SecureDoc and SecureDoc Enterprise Server to install the SecureDoc packages and provide recovery. SportsMark also utilized WinMagic consultancy services to ensure the smoothest and quickest deployment in the fastest possible timeframe. At the end of the project, SportsMark will take advantage of SecureDoc’s Crypto erase feature to decommission the devices used for the event.

About SecureDoc
SecureDoc is a comprehensive disk encryption and data security product that secures data at rest. It has two main components: the client software used to encrypt and protect data and the server software (SecureDoc Enterprise Server or SES) used to configure, deploy, and manage server encryption for an entire organization.

Armed with a full arsenal of data protection solutions, SecureDoc provides: full disk encryption; file and folder encryption; removable media and removable media container encryption; departmental server encryption; centralized management; Active Directory and LDAP integration, and much more. SecureDoc also makes it easy to centrally manage and use standard drives and self-encrypting drives including TCG OPAL-compliant drives.

SecureDoc uses a FIPS 140-2 level 1 and level 2 certified AES 256-bit cryptographic engine to encrypt data. SecureDoc was the first product in market to introduce network-based pre-boot authentication. This technology, PBConnex, has been recognized throughout the industry as a market leading security solution significantly reducing the total cost of ownership of data encryption. Most recently, WinMagic was awarded Security Magazine’s Innovator of the Year Award in 2011 for SecureDoc and the groundbreaking functionality PBConnex offers.

WinMagic’s SecureDoc data encryption and security solution protects sensitive data stored on desktops, servers as well as portable media such as laptops and removable media including USB thumb drives and CD/DVDs. It is compatible with all editions of Microsoft Windows 7, Vista, XP, and 2000 as well as Mac OS X Lion, Snow Leopard, Leopard and Linux platforms.

New Review Site WasThatGood.com Delivers Independent Theatre Opinion

WasThatGood.com, a new site dedicated to bringing informed and independent theatre review and opinion to stage fans, has been launched in the UK.

The site has been introduced to address a demand for genuine, unbiased theatre reviews which are different from the now-standard sites which are full of intrusive advertising. WasThatGood.com will offer true, honest reviews of shows like Chicago and Billy Elliot from people who have actually been to see them and who are not promoting anything.

WasThatGood.com has been built by Robert Stuart, a big fan of theatre and shows, who was tired of trawling through websites which consisted of nothing but advertisements. The new site will offer impartial opinion, show times and the chance to buy London theatre tickets too.

Robert Stuart says, “There was clearly a gap in the market for a genuine, honest theatre review website – hence why I decided to introduce WasThatGood.com. There are far too many websites around which are advertising based and which actively promote shows – I wanted to have a place where all fans of theatre can share genuine reviews.”

In recent times the economic crisis has resulted in lots of people choosing not to go to see shows any longer for fear of wasting their money. WasThatGood.com intends to address this by giving people unbiased, genuine reviews via which they can make informed choices about which shows to go and see.

In addition to its review services WasThatGood.com will also host show time and date information and will let people search for the highest-rated shows by peer review. Users will also be able to buy tickets for shows all over the country through the site.

About WasThatGood.com

WasThatGood.com was born in an attempt to give the public a say in the world of theatre by offering an independent forum for them to share their opinions. The intent is to promote open discussion regarding the theatre, which could very well lead to improvement as theatres will have to face reality and will no longer be subject to only a handful of critics who have a channel to the public.
